Huang Xing Qiao (the girl yeseo picked that didnt have the best vocals in her demo stage) is actually a pretty talented vocalist. The only thing is shes weak in dance skills and isn't really trained in stamina as a typical idol trainee would be. So her vocals were unfortunately far from stable in the demo stage because she had to dance and sing at the same time. I'd say Yeseo had probably heard her at her best at some point before choosing her.
Just wait until a couple more episodes in, and then you'll see why Yeseo picked Huang Xing Qiao for her cell... Her vocals weren't showcased the best in the demo stage, she'll shine a couple more episodes in though!!!!
and the fact Yeseo got closer and became good friend with Xing Qiao until the end :') They really make a harmonius cell 😆 Besides, the reason why Yeseo choose Mashiro is because they are already friends from the same company, 143 Entertainment.

I think even if someone's vocal isn't stable it doesn't mean they have a bad voice? She has a very pleasant tone when singing. A very similar case is with Rose from BLACKPINK, her vocals when performing are shaky but when singing in place is spectacular! Give Xing Qiao a chance!!
if we all tried to sing in foreign language we will make a lot of terrible pronunciation and often to sing in a higher pitch (it happens when you talk/sing in foreign language there's like an explanation for this but i forgot) well all in all, i applaud those girls who are not even fluent to sing in korean and did their best to learn it in a short time span (literally within a week or less to learn the dance and song) those who are fluent are definitely in advantage. still kudos to all these girls for trying their best to achieve their dreams

Also the reason they would get thrice the benefit for performing an EBS song is because they would have to compete against two teams (BTS team vs EXO team vs Seventeen team) instead of just 1 team (Yes or Yes team 1 vs Yes or Yes team 2, for example). So because they have more competition, they get thrice the benefit if they win.

Funny thing about it is that i fell in love to Huang Xingqiao's voice in demo song because how solid her voice when she belted out the chorus and the high bridge. Like lets be honest, how many popular visual girls like Xingqiao in kpop right now can belt with that vocal tone? I would say super few or worst none. My point is Xingqiao being Visual Vocalist is so rare in kpop because visuals usually either being rapper/dancer, sub vocal/lead dancer, main dancer, visual & center but she's a different case.🤫

honestly, i started watching the show mainly bc of yujin and was really biased towards her, but after seeing the other girl's talents and getting to know them as well I do think that yujin didn't deserve to be much higher in that top9, it was a fair place imo. i definitely don't agree with half of that top9 but with her position I actually do, she did amazing, but there were better performances
keep an eye out for Kim Bora and Nagai Manami they both got in "The fifth season" team. Kim Bora is amazing she is easily the best vocalist of the show and plus she's in cherry bullet together with May (in cell with yujin and cai bing) and Jiwon (she's gonna perform yes or yes)
Xing Qiao vocals is great but yeah this is just the demo she's prolly so nervous which makes her neck muscle tensed to belt them notes, plus it's while dancing. There's many compilations of her singing live & she sounds great. I think it's the case of many of the contestants too, the messed up here but there are many other compilations of them slaying the vocals.
also i just want to say that you should keep an eye on bora and chaehyun (they were my 2 top picks) really good vocalists and really good leadership skills
The whole top 9 was very logical, the only unexpected one was ayana getting the 9th over yurina but even that is justifiable and caibing getting 8th cuz she had a naturally charismatic face without even trying much. Hikaru and the boombayah members proved that japanese trainees aint just about being cute. Yeseo's leadership and professional way of dealing with problems mid performance made her deserving of her rank. Xiaoting showed a lot of her solid dancing and her rapping skills in her performance. Rui Qi had the best stage presence amongst all the performances of trainees that performed alone. Jiyoon showed the best vocal performance amongst all the trainees in the demo perfs. Yujin showed her experience in her performance, you thought she shouldve been in the top 5 but i think her place was justified there. Youngeun's rapping and dancing was very solid, caibing is one i didnt agree with, she got in just cuz her face is naturally charismatic but she didnt do anything beyond that. Ayana deserves her spot cuz if you watched her performance, she guided ruan very well and she was very good despite being given a difficult song to perform by mnet...
this shows how influenced people can be by screen time. when you told dayeon to ‘not choose hikaru’ even though dayeon was one of the best performers in the demo stage. because she wasn’t shown much you didn’t even remember. shana too, she did amazing. there’s so many moments in this reaction where you disregard and are borderline hateful towards certain contestants because you don’t know them well, when they are literally so talented and it was shown in the demo stage. ngl this was kinda stressful to watch, you mentioned how you were aware of mnet’s editing but it rlly seems like you aren’t.
oh and the top 9 was perfectly fine. of course yujin is great but others are also great, she’s not the best in the show. you really underestimated yeseo too, your face when she was revealed as no2, like she’s great, she deserves it. oh and you were surprised for jiyoon too? that was one of the less surprising ones, it’s like you totally forgot about her performance. you fell for the trap of mnet and the only ones you really pay attention to are xiaoting, hikaru, su rui qi and that’s pretty much about it. there’s so many more talented contestants.

plus her korean wasn't even that great so she's definitely a good singer when speaking her mother tongue.
