CONGRATULATIONS for your new campervan. We caravanned for over 20 years but gave up when we retired to Germany, I have to say you have made me very envious! This is the first time I have watched your chanel but I have subscribed and am very much looking forward to your adventures in Henry.
We are also looking forward to our adventures!! The 'not knowing' when we would get our van has caused us a few issues as our next biggish holiday is in Canada. But we have a few long weekends planned before a fortnight in Brittany in August.
Small but perfectly formed! Unfortunately, because we really had no idea when it would arrive (we were originally told November 2021 and then the date kept being put back a few months), our first big adventure in it is not until August. But we certainly plan to spend as much time away in it before than as we can.
Amazing what can be fitted in such a small van ,we downsized from a motor home to a Eldiss CV20 ,18 months ago, 5.9 metres long ,best van we have had , love it, enjoy your travels
It is what some would call 'cozy' but it does have everything we need in it. It is ideal for our local Cornish lanes, although I haven't been brave enough to take it through Mevagissey yet!!
Most of our videos will be about our adventures in Henry but some will be about our beautiful county of Cornwall and others about our holidays without Henry.
Thanks for that. There's no right or wrong when choosing a campervan/motorhome. If it's right for you then it's the right unit. Everyone is individual and has different wants/needs. Many happy journeys and stay healthy
Looks a really nice van and I hope you absolutely enjoy it. For us, the layout of the Auto-sleeper Symbol works better as we like the larger lounge and it only takes minutes to make up the bed. Also, as we go to some remote locations, we like the full cooker in the Symbol. It's a good job we don't all like the same! Look forward to your adventures.
We spent many a happy hour trying to decide what we wanted from a campervan. We've camped in tents for all of our lives so we are used to 'roughing' it!
@@whichwaynow We had caravans for 32 years and got the MH when we retired and bought a flat. We must be soft as we have never camped Ha Ha. Have many happy adventures.
There are so many campervans and motorhomes on the market that it really is difficult to know where to start looking. We knew what we really wanted and this ticks all of the boxes.
Lovely van 😊. We’ve just sold our 5.41m van and bought a 6.36m van because we have three dogs and it was sadly just a bit too small. The 5.41m van is the perfect size for parking and I’m hoping the transition to the bigger van goes smoothly for us. Good luck on your travels.
I can imagine a 5.41m van with three dogs would be cosy! Luckily it is just the 2 of us and so far we've found it the perfect length - time will tell when we go on a longer trip! Good luck with your new van
Thank you. It is so refreshing to see a review of a occupied van, it brings the 'real' size into clearer focus. I notice you were running a electric kettle - did you specify uprated electrics?
Firstly many congratulations on 2 things your wedding anniversary and your van looks absolutely awesome 👌 back in 2019 we were in the process of buying a tourer but sad to say covid spoilt it been furloughed a lot and we had to spend our savings 😢 and now we’ve have to downgrade to a tent!!!! Still living in hope that just maybe one day we get one (tourer) we used to eurocamp all over Europe absolutely awesome had some great holidays but now we have a little girl but not little any more as she’s growing so fast (4) our next trip is down to deven from Sheffield a long 5 hour drive but hopefully we’ll be ok!!! Any way take care and safe travels 👌👌👌👌
We've been tent camping for all of our lives and absolutely loved it. We now want to do a bit more touring and thought that the van as the ideal way to do it. Devon is beautiful (look out for our video on Friday about our 3 nights on Dartmoor!) and I'm sure your little girl will love it.
Hi both, what a great van. We recently stayed with a group of people in North Wales, one of which had a Fiat Wildax. It was very similar to your Hymer and we were very impressed. We were almost tempted away from our VW. 😄 I have subbed to your channel. We're looking forward to seeing how you get on and we're likely to be watching your trip across France in September from somewhere in France ourselves. We'll give you a toot and a wave if we see you. Good luck and keep the vlogs coming. Mal, Ruth and Raffy.
Thanks Mal, Ruth and Raffy. We've been to France on numerous occasions but mainly down to the Med. This time we are planning to explore the villages and towns of Brittany and down to Bordeaux. Have a great trip and we'll look out for VW's!!!
Nice looking van 😊 We have the same on a 6.3m Yellowstone and love it. Agree with all the bike rack comments, we have gone down the tow bar route. One of the best accessories we have is a silver screen, on the bulky side but fantastic at preventing condensation
Nice video! We also have a Fiat Ducato van. Your van looks alot like ours, albeit ours is a bit bigger, 5.9 meters. And our bed is an automatic pull-down bed, which saves lots of space.
I can imagine that a pull down bed would save so much space! They say that buying a camper van is like buying a boat - the 1st one is too small, the 2nd too big and the 3rd just right!!! I just hope if this is the case, we don't have to wait over 2 years for the 2nd and 3rd ones!
We have a similar layout in our 6m Autocruise carrera 4. 8 years later and we still love it. The bed, as you say, is very comfortable, especially with a topper. Regarding a bike rack, you might find that a door hung one won't handle two electric bikes, due to the stress on the hinges. We added a tow bar and bought an Atera strada dl3, which folds back, allowing you to open the rear doors without taking the rack, or even the bikes off. You will find lots of things to add as you go along. Gaslow refillable lpg, solar panels for off grid, etc etc..... enjoy.
Thank goodness for people like you giving advice and for Google otherwise we would be completely lost!!! It is one of those things that it is going to take a long time before we've got the exact additions that we want.
Great review guys, it’s the same layout/furniture as our Burstner but ours is 6m so we can fit our full size bikes, paddle boards, fire pit and logs under the bed. A pair of MiRider folders will fit under yours though. Don’t put them outside as others have said they will be stolen! 👍🏼🚐
Great stuff guys. Looks a beautiful van and you are going to get a lot of amazing trips in him. We just ordered a van from Auto Sleepers - we’ve been told 8 months - we’re hoping for 12 but it will probably be 15. Crazy lead times at the moment. Anyway, good luck with YT, we’ve had a channel for 18 Months now and it’s been a lot of fun Subbed to see more of what you guys get up to 👍👍👍👍
Good luck with the delivery of your new van although it does seem that vans are coming through rather quicker now. I think we unfortunately ordered ours at just the wrong time! I love the videography on your channel, I've just subscribed!
Just a thought - our first van was a 6m Auto Cruise so also pretty tight on space. We were told to use a brand new watering can to fill the water tank - it works well although it did need an extension fitting to the spout. We still use it in our present 7m Knaus, still have the long, blue hose but have only used it once in 12 years! Enjoy your new 'toy'.
Congratulations 29 yrs like your van very much got more in than you would think from the outside very nice enjoy 51yrs we have been Married not killed each other yet 🙂🙂🙂
We've got a long way to go to catch up with you - well done for not killing each other!!! The van is a perfect size for the wonderful Cornish countryside.
Hi there and congratulations on the new van. I really like your arrangement for storing the table and chairs. Are you able to share more details (or links to the table, chairs and brackets used?. Many thanks.
At the moment we get about 31 mpg but that is with the bike rack and 2 bikes which obviously add to the weight and won't help the aerodynamics! We've been on numerous trips since we've had Henry (as can be seen from this channel) and still think that we couldn't have made a better choice.
With the tiny lanes that we are surrounded by, for us it really is the perfect size - although I may change my opinion when we spend a couple of months in him next year!!!
Are you going cold weather camping if so what is the insulation for walls ceiling and floor...? And what solar power, and is it truma water and heating?
At the moment we don't have any solar panels, but we are currently looking to see what the best ones are. The Truma boiler operates both water and heating.
The Ayers Rock is a great short wheel base campervan. The rear storage solutions are the best on the market. Can I suggest you fit some mudflaps as the projections from the right front wheel will damage the electric step mechanism. Get some from Peugeot or Citroën as they're cheaper than the Fiat ones.
Can I suggest you don't get a bike rack, E bikes are heavy, I went down that route. Long story short, I had a tow bar fitted and now have a Thule tow bar bike rack. It's an awesome bit of kit. Remember, if you have a door mounted bike rack, you have to clear the back lights to be legal, which means humping the bikes up high ! Food for thought, maybe.
We were very fortunate that we had a fixed price when we ordered it. I know that prices have risen considerably since then but I'm not sure what the latest costs are.
As we say, we are very new to this! I have just ordered a microphone so hopefully the sound will be better in future videos. It won't be here in time for this weeks video but keep your eyes (and ears) out for ones after that!!!
Beware of Electric bikes hanging off the rear door! We had a Peugeot Boxer with two normal bikes and the door became twisted. As you probably know electric bikes are heavy.
Because of the advise of you and others, we are currently looking at a chassis mounted rack. AS we are new to campervanning, all advise is greatly received.
Whilst I appreciate that we have probably lost money on it, as we intend to keep it for many years we wanted a van that had exactly our own specifications and feel it was worth it.
Not true.....we have just taken delivery of our Hymer Campervan.....currently worth £10,000+ more than we paid for it 18 months ago. Also, second hand prices are often more than buying new because of long lead times on new vans. Campervans in general are holding up very well price wise. Finally.....we are not interested in selling. Our van is good for at least the next 20 years.
Thanks for letting us know. Please bear with us as we are on a very steep learning curve as this is only our second ever video. Keep watching to see if we get any better!
We've tent camped for all of our lives and never had a TV then. We are all different, but for us it feels more like we're on holiday not watching TV and playing cards or board games or even chatting!!
Gorgeous interior. Like the stealthy exterior as well.
Thanks, so far we're really pleased with everything!

Thanks - we are very happy with Henry!

Perfect van for your adventure's, nice to be able to purchase a new van that no one has slept in or messed around with, have fun
Buying new means that we have a van to the exact specification that we feel is best for us. It's just a shame about the 26 month wait!!!
Thanks for a great review. What a gorgeous van Henry is. See you on the road maybe!
We are very pleased with Henry and will look out for you on the road (and in campsites!!).
