Claude Debussy (1862 - 1918)
Sonata for Cello and Piano in D minor (1915)
Maurice Gendron - Violoncello
Christian Ivaldi - Piano
1967, Paris
IMHO one of the veeeery greatest, if not THE greatest cellist of the 20th century! I have been lucky enough to know him personally, to attend several of his recitals, and to have extended conversations with him. What an intelligent and charming person! What a fantastic MUSICIAN! And Debussy's sonata is a masterpiece, of course.
Possibly the most inspiring interpretation of this sonata.
The most refined and sensitive cellist ever.
i have the honor and pleasure of learning piano form Maurice Gendron´s grandson... i'll be eternally grateful :)
I've heard many renditions of this but this one is my favorite.
Fantastic performance! Probably my favorite of the Debussy on UA-cam.
Listen Rostropovich's version 😉
A masterpiece. I don't actually play anything outside of D minor since I heard this : )
very beautiful
Gendron is magical... ably supported by Christian...
Quand la virtuosité est porté au sublime, il semble que la beauté qui s'en échappe nous touche au plus profond sans que rien ne vienne l'expliquer.
amazing
Marvelous.
@monologtube I'm not sure, although all I have ever seen or heard this Sonata performed by Gendron is this recording.
hmmm prekrásne
Incomparably greater

Christian Ivaldi - Piano
There is one another recording of Debussy sonata by Gendron with Francais on piano.

Mi amor, espero que lo disfrutes. Un abrazo bien fuerte. Tengo tantas ganas de que estos abrazos y besos virtuales que siempre te mando se conviertan en una hermosa realidad. Te amo tanto.
