    Hooray...I'm so happy you made a video for your pizza sauce, Leanne. It is going to bless so many people who want to be sure they have a delicious sauce after the work of the canning process. I love the idea of using this for a meatloaf topping, brilliant. You did such a good job explaining all the important steps too. Thank you, Leanne!

    Just for the pure pleasure of getting to spend time with you as you can, I'm re-re-(re?) watching this video again. My next tomato project is a canner load of tomato juice and then all the remaining tomatoes will become another batch of this pizza sauce. I only have two jars left on the shelf, that will NOT do! Luckily that will be in at least a week so I'll have time to go buy more jars. Never thought I'd run out but have been so blessed by the garden during this past horrible summer that now I'm practically out of jars and have to buy them new as I can find them. Still so glad your pizza sauce video is here for good reference, thank you for going to all the trouble of filming it LeAnne.

    G'day LeAnne.
    Had to come back and comment as I forgot after watching it on the TV the other day. Or maybe it was last week... I can't remember.
    Loved how you saved that big boy for the seeds. Those lids making the pinging sound is the best!
    All the best my friend.

    Your tomatoes were beautiful last summer, LeAnne! Ours were pretty sad last year due to the many fires in our area - Northern California. This year, due to drought conditions, we are under severe water restrictions. Hopefully we will be able to keep our garden going and I can make this beautiful pizza sauce. Of course I will try your pizza crust recipe to go with it! I LOVED seeing your little outdoor prep area! An outdoor canning kitchen has long been a dream of mine! Thanks for sharing!

    If your canners are tall enough you can double stack the 1/2 pint jars. You do need an extra rack to separate the layers, but it will save you time.. Another time saver is to use a steam canner which doesn't take as long to come to a boil and doesn't heat the house as much.

    So glad I saw this one. Happy to discover pizza sauce can be waterbathed. Your outdoor prep area is great. Been watching your Souptember entries also. Would be interesting to see how you save your seeds-start to finish. When you save seeds are they good for more than one year?

    • @MennoniteFarmhouse
      @MennoniteFarmhouse  3 роки тому +1

      Yes seeds will last for a while… when you buy seeds at the store they only want to sell them for one season. I still have seeds from 5 years ago from we got from Monticello.

    Do you dehydrate the skins/seeds that the food mill creates to dehydrate into tomato powder? We are definitely trying that soon. We have 90 lbs of tomatoes 🍅 in our freezer from a local farm.

    • @MennoniteFarmhouse
      @MennoniteFarmhouse  Рік тому +1

    @the_mennonite_farmhous Hi Leanne! Thank you so much for your Lovely videos. You always inspire me. In HAWAII, I have a hard time finding tomatoes to can. The correct type of tomatoes (paste tomatoes). What kind of tomatoes are you using? Also, how do you save seeds to preserve? I have no experience on this snd it sounds intriguing. Lol. Do you share your seeds?

    • @MennoniteFarmhouse
      @MennoniteFarmhouse  Рік тому +1

      I use tomatoes that are a plum type, the man that gave me some tomatoes that Im now in love with said they were Italian tomatoes. I can't find anything like that on the internet. the man that gave me those tomatoes is Amish. We just smear the seeds on to a brown paper towel and let it dry completely and then label and place in a plastic baggie. I have shared my seeds on my channel in the past and will do it in the future.
