Hello I had a question I was told that I didn’t need a CDL to operate a truck under 26,001 pounds. I don’t know if this is true, i was also told that all I would need to drive this truck was to pass the air breaks part of the test, but again I don’t know if this is true and wanted to know more about this. I don’t know if you would be able to answer this. This is in texas.
No, you don't need a CDL for anything under 26,000. A lot of these non cdl trucks come with air breaks, so I don't think you need to pass any test, these trucks only requires a regular license to operate.
What if you're holding the brakes down instead of constantly pressing them? will that still lower the psi for the air brakes or is it just for constantly pressing?
If it does it's unnoticeable. It stops once the break is engaged. Then when you let go the brake, that air pressure that was pushing against the break empties out. It's hard to run out of air unless someone is intentionally pumping the air out.
If you lose 4 psi in 1 minute while holding the brakes then that means you have an air leak. It's part of your air brakes pre trip inspection...
great question
@@rogemillecastillo3183Need a video on how to fix the leaks.
@@rogemillecastillo3183 for the truck he is driving. A single straight truck i think its 3 psi per minute.
A combination vehicle like a semi is 4 psi per minute.
Haven't been OTR in awhile and when I did I didn't have pre pass, does that work in every state that has tolls. West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey killed me...
It doesn't work in every state but it has the most states where it works. Tolls are a pain in the butt, but so is carrying a wad of cash, and stopping at every toll booth :)
How much pre pass cost
Call them up, they have different levels. They connect to your bank account and replenish when it gets past a certain point. I have a friend that didn't get his on time, so he is over the road paying with cash 🙂
I roll down a mud hill and my air drops to 100 and I’m nervous at that point
You may want to shift to a lower gear before you hit the hill, so you don't have to ride the brakes so much.
Two compressors mmmm! Maybe two air tanks!!!🤔
what is reverse 1
Not sure what you mean, I've never saw a truck with more than one reverse. 🤔
@@boss-lyfemy display shows R1 when in reverse 2017 international I jus got it two days ago
@@sebastianbenson6584 Old comment, but some trucks have 2 or 3 reverse gears.
But what are going to do in heavy traffic on highway? you will have to apply the brakes many times.
Just keep your distance, and watch your speed. Heavy traffic shouldn't be a problem. It is always regenerating as you drive. It takes a lot of effort to empty the tanks.
I'm in New York to and a class B license class A permit holder. I would like to speak business.
What do you have in mind?
@@boss-lyfe lol things have changed some since then... overall right now basically l want to be home every day, minimum hard labor and mostly driving. A box was a fav but the market isn't fair 2ith cost overall prices on everything. Cargo is my aim. I want to enter smart. No financing no lease so l can sleep at night. I don't want to pay over $5-7k cash if that's possible.
@@creativemanifestation8295 Nothing wrong with that, brother. The goal is to work smarter, not harder 💪
Correction u have two gauges cuz u have two air tanks not two compressors trucks only have one compressor
Thanks brother, I get brain fog forget words a lot. Sorry about that 🙂
@@boss-lyfe you are welcome
Allways pull out 😭😭
