So fun fact the French in between World War One and World War Two were modernizing at such a slow pace that regular troops were still using World War One equipment while what few elite forces they had was using newer modern equipment due to commanders thinking that World War Two was going to be like World War One.

Not entirely true A lot of the soldiers were using modern equipment (MAS 36, FM 24, MAS 38 to an extent), but WW1 era weapons did still get used (Lebel in a Sniper role, Berthier carbines for assault squads, Berthier long rifles, RSC, and Meniuer rifles for reserve troops, Chauchat for AA crews, the only one that is still used in a wide scale is the Ruby , since the SA 1935 is not very plentiful, oh yeah... The Hotchkiss 1914, a modernized version of the Hotchkiss 1909 is still used too due to no other alternatives being there or plentiful)
