very helpful information, I didn't know to put soap upside down while it hardens after taking it out of the mold thank you for such an informative video

You can build a box for that mold with a piece of foam core poster board from the drug store for about 2 bucks. A knife to cut the board, a glue gun or duct tape to hold it all together and you have got all you need to make a custom size box for it. Thanks for the great video!
THANK YOU! I have a small mountain of leftovers from handmade soaps. I only buy a couple of fragrances and have kept those in separate baggies. I was amazed that a spritz of rubbing alcohol removes bubbles. Visited the Brambleberry website, they have TONS of fun stuff.
Hello, one of the things that I do when I have extra melt and pour soap, is I pour it into an ice cube tray. No matter what a small amount it is they can always be used for embeds as well as shreds. I have several that I have cut in little squares medium sized squares larger squares. That are also able to be cut down very easily to reheat them without having other colors in it. Some people think that combining all the colors wood preserve it oh, it doesn't it makes it turned Grey. I think about color if anybody knows the color wheel is is that white is the absence of color black is confusion of color gay next, and gray is in between the two where there are black and white tones. Anyway I just thought maybe I would share my little tip that has worked wonderfully for us if we have any extra colored soap. What I like is is those are always scented and you can call it Tutti Frutti or gummy soap, is one that I want to make with my grandchildren. I'm waiting on several of my molds to come in and one of them includes the gummy bears. They should be fun thank you take care of God bless. Deb
I live in the uk. I got 2kg of glycerine soap(melt n pour) from ancient wisdom for £7.50. It is difficult to get bulk soap at a good price. Looked up your etsy shop. There weren't any available. I'll look back soon. Great video with some awesome pointers.
Hi! I was taught to wrap my melt and pour soap in saran wrap after 3 hours drying in the fridge. I'm a newbie so any tips are more than welcomed. Thank u!!
I want to get started in soap-making, so I plan on using leftover soaps to start with for practice? Someone said using coconut oil can help make bars creamier and smoother. I'm using the hotel bar-style soaps, the small ones. (My mom collected tons of those little bars. I want to have a larger bar, one I can grip. These are very tiny and don't last very long.) I also have some honey soap, plus goat & rice milk soap, which I eventually want to use with my flower molds. I want to make some gift soaps for the Holiday for some family and friends. I was thinking of adding a bit of Egyptian Musk essential oil or honeysuckle essential oil to each batch for a nice light fragrance. Is this okay? I'm a novice and want to be sure I don't forget anything. I want to be sure they will come out well.
You can not melt down commercial bars. You need to use soap base made specifically for melt and pour that can be found at craft stores or online. If you try to heat up commercial bars, all it will do is make a horrible smell and expand into something un-usable because they are loaded with detergents. Cold/hot process soaps can be shaved and added to a new base, but what you are wanting to do will not work. You need to start from scratch with a base specifically designed for melt and pour soap. For fragrance oil or essential oils, you need to make sure they are skin safe and the amount used is a safe amount based on the amount of soap you're making.
@@DesertCloudSoapworks so I can only use the homemade soap bars, the honey, goat's and rice milk, glycerin bars, and others I have, right? Do I have to add soap base to them too? These bars are made by a sibling who gifted them to me. I've saved up the pieces, plus have a few small bars.
You can chop or grate the hotel soaps then let them soften in some hot or warm water. I mash it up and mold them together after that. It won’t be totally smooth, but it works. Kinda rustic lol. It’s kind of the same concept of putting a wet sliver of soap on a new bar and it adheres to the new bar.
Your silicon moulds is an insert to a wooden box. The box prevents the mould from bulging. You can even make your own wooden boxes pretty easily (if you handy with wood).
I watched a woman using bricks around her molds instead of wood. The wooden molds are pretty expensive. A couple bricks not so much. I would use at least six bricks two for each side and one for each and so it doesn't blow out for the end. Walleye it ain't going nowhere and the size will be straight as you want them. Take care Deb
I'm sorry, I was completely distracted by the adorable puppies and had to watch twice, because the first time, I was watching more for another glimpse of the dogs, lol
Dear great job..I would like to ask if you have a certain recipe for melt and pour soap base..another question my soap pH level is always 9to 10 ..is that ok
No I don't make melt and pour soap fro scratch......yet. PH levels vary greatly depending on the type of soap and all the ingredients used. Mild is always better.
I just found out there is a fragrance store in my area that does lovely scented oils.. So please. Do you have any videos on essential oils in soaps please.
Cool, this'll save the planet and waste. I'd recommend placing the mold in an ultrasonic cleaner (w/ proper water level) to it vibrates and gets rid of air in the melted, liquified piece of of soap. By the way will the microwave still be food safe with the soap vapors in it? Do you have to have a dedicated microwave to melt the pieces of soap? God bless.
The microwave is just fine. This is a specific kind of soap, melt and pour. It isn't like commercial soap like Zest or Dove which has horrible vapors when put in the microwave.
Hi. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have a question. You said not to bag your MP soap until 2 days after. Doesn't it get ash? Thanks for your prompt answer!!!
Wow, it looks good! Can you suggest another spray than the rubbing alcohol? I'm trying to make an organic soap but the item to remove the air bubble is hard to find in my country
I bought a melt and pour soap from hobby lobby, and I started melting it, then realized that the mold I had was broken... Had to return the mold to get a new one... Is it ok to re-melt a dyed melt and pour, I dyed it red... Will it separate or ruin the soap?
Very practical tutorial. The really creative and fancy soaps are great to watch being made, but those wavy blue bars look great too. I really like them and would buy something like this (snag: I'm in the UK). And not to diss your soaps in any way, some of the fantabulous creations produced by some soap makers seem like showpieces that I wouldn't want to spoil by using!
Can anyone help with why my MP keeps burning? I've turned down my microwave and doing extremely short bursts of time and have it all chopped in small pieces but with in 10 seconds it bubbles and turns rubbery....Can not get it to stay liquid.
Yes you totally can however you don't put it in the microwave you have to cut it up first also, there's plenty of tutorials online how to do it but you won't have that smooth finish like this still worth a go and doesn't look bad either my nan used to do it all the time
You don't use commercial bars for this. This soap is melt and pour, it's designed to be melted in the microwave. Also, even if you have fragrance in it, it does not make the microwave smell.

You probably used ivory soap. Ivory soap is mostly made of air, so when you microwave it it expands

Hi, I sell already made soaps, not soap making supplies. Right now my shop is out of stock of items.
Love how neat the results are.
Is it possible to do that with other types of bar soap like Irish spring, dove, etc?
No, you can not melt down and repurpose commercial bar soap. This is melt and pour.
Yes you can

Thanks for the tips
It's interesting to see how this all works.

If your doing layers putting in the fridge can cause the layers not to stick together.
Don’t put in the fridge it will make it sweat
What is better, cooking it till its malt in a pot or using the microwave?
Whatever works best for you.
This wants me to make a soap business XD
@Mckenzie Fields that's awesome! Hows it going?
Can I use any essential oil for fragrance or does it have to be oils specifically for soapmaking? Very helpful video. Thank you

No. Commercial soap does not work with this. This is melt and pour soap.

The brand shouldn't matter.
So do you do 1 minute shake then one minute again? Or like how many times do you do that?
Just keep an eye on it and do it as long as you feel you need to until it's melted, but not boiling.
Do 30 secs at a time in the microwave to be safe and not burn the soap.
My aim is off😂😂thank you for the video!
Hi. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have a question. You said not to bag your MP soap until 2 days after. Doesn't it get ash? Thanks for your prompt answer!!!

Desert Cloud Soapworks Thank you!!!
Wow, it looks good! Can you suggest another spray than the rubbing alcohol? I'm trying to make an organic soap but the item to remove the air bubble is hard to find in my country
Rubbing alcohol cuts the surface tension. I don't know anything else that might work as a good alternative.
The rubbing alcohol completely evaporates out of the soap.
Will this work for goat milk soap?
As long as it's melt and pour.

You can re-batch M&P, but it will bleed the color into fresh M&P pieces.
If you watch your temperature. It shouldn’t bleed as long as you’re using a colorant made for soap. Not food coloring. That will bleed
Can i do this withaa store bought soap bar?
No
Yes with additives. Look on UA-cam.
Not recommended.
