    Donny , you are avery fortunate man to have all of this on your doorstep.
    More importantly the desire , ability and skill to make the most of it.
    I am very envious but at the same time happy that someone is doing and enjoying the things I wish I could.
    Keep up the good work mate you help a lot of people stay sane.

      Thanks crf9993.. I also read your comment on The Scottish Isle ..so I looked them up as I had never heard of them. I heard them when I was there this time as they are just along the road from Eilean Shona where I land in this episode. I noticed they are having to leave the island too.. so have my sympathy. I guess its hard living in a very small community.. I knew the second last owner of the Glenuig Inn.. he had a hard time there because of how the local community reacts ..he had to sell up eventually ..someone else bought it ..and I see its for sale again ..its just the way these small communities are ... if they dont accept you.

    Just such a beautiful video Donny...your footage is stunning, really showing the beautiful scenery at its best. I've been to all those lochs but didn't know there was a north channel to Moidart, so that's on my list now!

    • @donnywilcox

      The north channel access in my favourite way in to Moidart Colin ..but it dries out as the tide falls. Loch Moidart itself is only a few feet deep in most places ..except for the south channel ..its deep :-D

    Thanks Donny, brought back great memories. I was lucky enough to stop in Roshven boathouse cottage last year (In front of Roshven house) for a weeks holiday and I kayaked in all the places captured in your beautiful video - Arisaig skerries, Loch Nan Uamh, Loch Ailort, Eilean nan Gobhor, Smirisary beach and loch Moidart. When I was kayaking down the north channel I came across a stoat in the middle of the channel swimming from the mainland to Eilean Shona. In fact it tried scrabbling up side of my kayak, presumably to try and “hitch a ride” but I quickly moved a few yards on. It successfully managed to get across to the island. Looking forward to the third part because every year I stop at Fascadale cottage which as you know, you will pass on your way home.

      Thanks alex ..I have the rest of Moidart and round the point uploaded now.. it shows Loch Moidart at its best.. but I flew by Fascadale so not much to be seen ..but Im sure you will recognise the quick glimpses of the Ardnamurchan coastline :-D

    Alright Donny...guid tae see Peanweanach bothy again, used to go there a lot, on foot and by boat.The Landowner of Ardnish has turned it into a private to let bothy, entirely up to him ofcourse. the bothy didnt look right to my eye wi steel shutters on windows...Great coast round that way as your excellent footage shows...qaulity as usual Donny! Thanks

    • @donnywilcox
      @donnywilcox  2 місяці тому +1

      I stayed it the bothy a few times too kevin. IO suspect they took it off the MBA as they can now rent it out to the many small businesses that take folks kayaking around that area. They advertise "kayaking tours even for beginners regardless the weather" .. I think they paddle around Loch Ailort and then stay in the old bothy ..paying someones business a fortune to take them there

    Eilean Shona and Shona Beag feature in a UA-cam channel run by a couple who have 'rented' a cottage on Shona Beag. (not going well presently) There are a lot of historical stone works in that area including the old jetty you seem to have moored up by in this episode. A fascinating area. Thanks again.

    • @donnywilcox
      @donnywilcox  2 місяці тому

      Hi Dudleys Dad..I hadnt heard of The Scottish Isle channel until you and another mentioned it so I googled them to see what they were up too. I enjoyed watching a few of their videos .. although I am aware there are others on Eilean Shone (Shona Beag is part of Eilean Shona) ..so they are not quite the only two. Sadly they are leaving the area. You will see more of Eilean Shona in the latest upload.. the cottage they were doing up is just along from the main pier I show in this video

    • @nathaire
      @nathaire 2 місяці тому

      @@donnywilcox Shona Beag is owned by a different family to Eilean Shona. In fact I knew the three previous occupants of the cottage that Scott and Katie are living in so I can speak from a place of knowledge. I actually know quite a lot about this but cannot really get involved but what I can say is there is more to that story than you are being told. All is not as it is being presented. What I can say is that having lived at Shepherds Cottage on Eilean Shona for almost four years I know the owner of Eilean Shona extremely well and not only is she a very amiable person but as my landlord was more than reasonable.

    You were right in the back garden of "The Scottish Isle" and in their last video there was a semi deflated abonded SIB which I am assuming was not you.

    • @donnywilcox
