To be fair, Harvey seemed to believe he knew how to handle animated films prior to Weinstein Company because of what he did with The Thief and the Cobbler/The Princess and the Cobbler when he was with Miramax
Yes, but we all know their edit of The Thief and the Cobbler did not turn out well. Bob and Harvey Weinstein learned nothing from how much they messed with / edited / cut down The Thief and the Cobbler, which is why Hayao Miyazaki made it a point to forbid them from cutting down Princess Mononoke, and why Hoodwinked Too was much worse than Hoodwinked when they had more creative control with it than Cory and Todd Edwards.
Well done, as always, Stefan! Another amazing story of a filmmaker standing up to Harvey Weinstein was when his company bought the rights to Bong Joon-ho's "Snowpiercer." Weinstein wanted to cut a pivotal scene involving a fish and Bong said the scene was emotional for him, because his father was a fisherman. Weinstein responded by saying family was important to him, too, and let the scene stay in. Bong Joon-ho's father was never a fisherman.

There's a reason for that. Like Dino Kitteh mentioned, there were a bunch of movies that Harvey Weinstein would frequently delay until they were finally released with very little publicity. Tulip Fever is a perfect example of this. It was filmed in 2014 and had about five different scheduled release dates until eventually coming out on Labour Day weekend 2017. To explain Bob's culpability, he was his brother and his closest associate and they often worked side-by-side. Peter Jackson, for example, has remarked that both of them tried to dissuade him from casting Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino in The Lord of the Rings, because those actresses had turned down Harvey's advances (the Weinsteins told Jackson a BS story that they were difficult to work with). There are exceptions like Clerks III (after Kevin Smith's conflict for Zack and Miri and the last straw with Red State, split the partnership against the Weinsteins; Jay and Silent Bob Reboot has Miramax credit without Weinstein involvement).
