I do the Roadmap of Your Life Tag.
This is an original tag created by Tristan @Tristan-L-Space-Books ‪@Tristan-L-Space-Books‬
I was tagged by Pat ‪@BookChatWithPat8668‬
    There are only two prompts:
1.)What is a book that reminds you of or takes place in each place that you've lived? This could mean country, state/province, city/town, and or apartment/house. Just come up with a book that really resonates with you and the time you spent in each place where you've had a mailing address!
2.) Since a roadmap not only shows you where you've been, but also where you're going, what is a book that reminds you of or takes place in your next destination? Or a place you'd like to live in?
    Books Mentioned:
Queens New York: Dick and Jane
Long Island New York: A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
New York, NY: A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O'Connor
Seattle, WA: Where I'm Calling From by Raymond Carver
Long Island City: Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson
Jersey City, NJ: The Piano Shop on the Left Bank by Thad Carhart
Central Virginia: Salvation on Sand Mountain by Dennis Covington
Providence, RI: Fargo, Rock City by Chuck Klosterman
Pinnacle, NC: The Human Stain by Philip Roth
Berea, KY: Through Another Lens: My Years with Edward Weston by Charis Wilson
Ararat, NC: The Gods Drink Whiskey by Stephen T. Asma
Jackson, MS: Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier
Winston-Salem, NC: Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Pittsburgh, PA: Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon

Thanks for the tag, James! You’ve certainly moved around. This will probably be the shortest tag video I ever do. 🤣 I’ll have to think of a way to make it interesting. 🤔

Knowing you had a stint in Seattle (my hometown) and read Carver while there pleases me a ridiculous amount. And The Piano Shop on the Left Bank! I read that when I took up piano again in my 40s after a long hiatus. Wait, there’s more. An appearance by Edward Weston. Mention of Natchez Trace, which takes me back to the Michael Martin Murphey song. Hitting all the sweet spots today my friend.

I was probably thinking of Weston because I went to a retrospective of Imogen Cunningham's work over the weekend and it included a couple of portraits of Weston. Glad you liked it.

I love this tag! You've lived in a fascinating assortment of places, James. I'm surprised you moved south after first reading Flannery O'Connor...

Very interesting tag! I enjoyed hearing about your roadmap books. I need to read Confederacy of Dunces; I think it is already on my TBR list.

Thanks for watching, Linda. "Confederacy of Dunces" is one of my all-time favorites and one of the funniest books I've ever read.

Polyglot Reading recently recommended Oblomov by Ivan Goncharov from 1859. Within a few pages I laughed out loud reminded of A Confederacy of Dunces forty years ago. I'm confident this will continue to thrill me. Then I'll reread Flannery O'Connor. Thanks.

Oblomov sounds like my kind of book, but it has never made it onto my reading pile yet.

Hi James, I found your channel through Pat and I also did this tag. I was brought up in Brooklyn and my partner was brought up in Queens and then Long Island. Now we both live in Hawaii. You lost your queen’s accent.😊 just subscribe to your channel. Aloha.

Thanks for watching Marilyn. Subscribing to your channel. I never had much of a Queens/LI/Outerboro accent. My parents sure do. Maybe I watched too much television?

A wide array of interesting books - I’m fond of Queens myself (which I’ve only dipped into as a visitor) and I won’t hold against you the disreputability of former residents whom I’m sure left before you came on the scene.

Thanks, David. We're not all like old-what's-his-name! Most visitors only pass through Queens on the way from the airport to Manhattan or Brooklyn, but it's the borough that I spent the most time in and has a lot of great neighborhoods.
