Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2018
- I've made this Very Simple Jig as for making Tenons I wanted to share this very simple design and as far as I know, No one has something similar on youtube or It might be just I haven't seen it.
Anyway, I've made the Tenon Jig out of 12mm MDF as it's easy to work with and great for jigs and templates.
The sizes I needed to cut are as follows:
2 Pieces @50 x 350
1 Piece @ 300 x 350
1 Pieces @ 175 x 200
1 Piece @ 25 x 200
Now, this is a very simple build and I have a SketchUp file available from my Google Drive which is free to download You'll find the link below.

If you haven't got Sketchup don't worry it's free and I have placed a link below.

Thank you. Simple straight forward and no music. Appreciate you not going from shot to shot at warp speed & turning down the sound when using power tools. It is nice to simply listen and understand.
Thank you so much Joe you comment is very much appreciated. Cheers Anth

Thankyou so much Andy pleased the jig will help you out.
Very nice and simple jig; I made one and I love it. I'm getting crisp and accurate tenons with this thing.
I made the strips that butt up the against workpiece on the underside of the board ca. 1 cm wider in that part (up to the square hole in the jig). That way, the side of the workpiece will sit 1 cm away from the edge of the hole, and the router bit will clear the entire width of the workpiece, which is useful for when I only put 2 shoulders on a tenon. I've also made sure that those guiding strips are dead square in relation to the edge that guides the router bit bearing.
So pleased the jig has worked out well for you. Thanks for the comment Anth
thank you, seriously considering using mortise and tenon on the workbench I'm going to make seeing how it can be easy to do it. Thanks heaps :)
Hope your work bench turns out great. And pleased the jig has inspired you.
Спасибо огромное! Отличное решение и не сложное в исполнении! 👍Повторю объязательно. Желаю успехов👍👌

Looks good. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
Interesting to see how you made this, as I have just made a jig for the same purpose, but approached it completely differently than you. I mounted my router in a carriage that slides out using good quality ball bearing drawer rails, and I cut across the wood.
great jig, thanks.
Nice work! I love to see your jig is there any chance you could send a photo please. Cheers Anth
Great job! Thanks for sharing!

Very good video Anth. I will purchase the materials and get it built this week. I was looking for a practical solution (jig) for making tenons and this video solved my dilemma. Keep up the good work!

Am building a gate with 20 2x4 tenons needed. Can’t wait to make this jig! Cheers!
Sounds like a great project let me know how you get on with the gate cheers Anth.
Thank you, I was looking por a simple jig that I could make with tools a non professional has at home. This project complies with that. Greetings from Argentina.
Edit: thumbs UP and suscribed!
Thank you so much. Anth
I logged on just to give you a thumbs up and say thanks for this design. Really well thought out!

This is a great jig you've made going to attempt to make it thank you
Glad you like it thank you for the comment. Cheers Anth
This is something I will take in mind on my next project that needs tenons, actually is very simple and accurate, thanks for your expertise!!
Thank you so much pleased the video helped you out.
Super work
Thank-you very much. Cheers Anth
This is very cool! Really appreciate the plans, as well. I don't have a table saw and have tried cutting tenons in the band saw with mixed results. I have a project in work that requires about 30 tenons of the same size and I think it's well worth the time to make on of these. Subscribed! Thanks!
Thank you, I hope your project turns out great.
Very nice Jig!
Thank you so much!
We will use that here on Brasil.
Hugs friend!

I do indeed like the jig but I've cut tenons on the bandsaw and do the mortice with the router. 😎
Yeah so do I but I designed the jig for people who may not have a band saw. And hopefully it has helped them out. Cheers Anth

I have been looking for something like this, I have a large bed Headboard that needs a small jig for this type of Tenon. Thank you,
Thanks Anth. Couldn't find the link to Website or sketchup. Love the idea.
Hi Dave
Im busy with the website at the moment So I've updated the link to my Google drive. So you can now view the jig from there. Give me a shout if you get stuck.
Cheers Anth
Big thumbs up given 😂
Thank you Denny so much
Thanks for the video! I was wondering whether it's possible to cut the mortises with the Katsu router. I'm trying to figure out whether I can get away with it as my first router or I should go for a bigger one.
Hello, Yes you can cut the mortice's with the katsu although you would need a plunge base for it. Routers are very cheap now. If it were me I would go for plunge router which is the bigger type..
Hello! Thank you for this video!
Please explain, what kind of wax did you use?
Hi I use clear furniture wax or others know it as paste wax hope that helps
Very very nice attachment like it's iam also carpenter.
Thank you Amar
Wow
Thank you

Awesome jig, how did you make the mortising hole to fit the exact dimensions of the tenoning? I didn’t see you cut it on the other piece of wood. Thanks.
Thank you so much. I'd made the mortice with a router and a 8mm router bit. Hope that helps you out. THANKS again
Dilia, I think it’s more the case that you cut your mortise first, at whatever dimension you want , and then set up the tenon jig to match. Top job Anth.
Gracias! a tu video
muchas gracias

Thank you
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love it - thanks for the clear walkthrough. I am new to woodworking and found myself wondering if a simple routertable setup might be a faster option? (I am thinking it might involve less clamping, but dont know what I dont know, so it might be less safe or less accurate?) Subscribed. :)
Hi thanks for the comment and sub. I would normally use a router table as it is quicker and more accurate. The draw back is having a dedicated router for the table. But as long as you have the space for a router table that'll definitely be the best option.
I made this jig for people with limited funds and space hopefully that's answered few questions.
Cheers Anth
@@AnthWood Big thanks for your clarification - building your spindle sander addon to my drill press this weekend. :)
Many thanks for showing and sharing this Jig, I will be making one this week, did you ever make a Mortice jig? many thanks again
Thank you I've been working on a Mortice jig to work along side the tenon jig. The trick is to make it as simple as possible and thyats the hard bit. Cheers Anth
Hi Anth, did you ever post the mortise jig that you were working on?. Cheers Mike @@AnthWood
Nice, I like it. One question - do you have any thoughts how a jig could be made that creates a tenon with rounded corners? My current process is to make a square-cornered tenon and then sand it down, but it’s a bit imprecise and not very quick so I’ve been wondering how a jig could be made to help out?
Hi personally I just round them with a sharp chisel. I've also used them square on rounded mortises as the rounded space is good for glue squeeze out. Both methods are as strong as each other.
I know trend do a jig for doing the rounded mortise and matching tennon although it costs around £200.
Thanks for the comment cheers Anth.
Hi many thanks for the video. Im sure I'll use the jig a lot. One thing I dont know - what is a template following router bit? A picture would be great. Many thanks again.
Hello Marilyn here is a link for the template router bits hope it helps amzn.to/3hjiW8Y
@@AnthWood many thanks
What's the make of the router and I'm
glad to see a radial arm saw still in use.
The router make is a Katsu trimmer router I've had it for years and has never let me down best thing is its really cheap here is a link for the router amzn.to/2QcOtAO
Hey Anthony, I just subscribed to your channel. I hope some day you start making videos again!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks for subbing! I will be starting making videos again shortly. Thanks for your support and have subscribed to your Chanel Cheers Anth
Great idea, now how to you make the mortise
I will be shortly
Do you have a video for a mortice jig? The tenon jig looks great.
Hi Anthony Not as yet but I am working on a simple design hopefully in the next month.
Nice video. Subscribed. Do have recommendations for where to buy wood on Tyneside?
Cheers for the sub. The is a supplier called Quay timber ne6 2xx is the post code. They do all timber plus reclaimed, so plenty of choice.
Hope that helps

@@AnthWood Cheers Anth. I used to live near their previous site in Ouseburn, I'll check them out.

Hola Raul Muchas gracias por el comentario que su apoyo continuo significa mucho para mí. Gracias de nuevo.
Thank God someone uses metric. Why can't us yanks switch? I don't do woodworking in fractions. Metric, I can do the math in my head without burning out a brain cell. Nice jig ,good video, I'll be making one of these. Thanks
Thank you so much for the comment I'm an old school engineer and was educated in fractions it took a while to adjust to metric but so pleased I did. There is a detailed sketchup model with measurement on my website which is free If you was a copy the link is in the description.
I second that I'm from Argentina and here we are used to metric system.
@@AnthWood greetings from Argentina.
Very useful and in metric system
ta muito bom joia
Muito obrigado
Great video, but it seems a section is missing? You stated how far down from the top to draw your line for the opening, but not how far up from the bottom. What are the exact detentions of the opening? Your SketchUp drawing shows different dimensions on each end of the opening. Also, no measurements in SketchUp. Thanks!
Hi Tina Thank you for pointing that out I have now updated the sketchup model with all dimensions so if you would like the file its on my website. How that helps
