Jesi Ride

A three year old horse just starting to get the idea of working under saddle and going out alone.
This video was speeded up to condense about 40 minutes to about 12 minutes.
He resisted on one section of trial going away from the barn alone. His normal response is to rapidly back up when he does not want to do something. When he did that I pulled his head around and let him spin till he stopped. On the first try on the section of trail I got off and led him through rather then fighting him. On the second try he still resisted and I backed him about 150 feet through the section, then turned him and he walked away fine. On the third try he walked through with little resistance. After that, he went fine on other sections of trail and down to the river (that he had resisted the day before). He has not done anything stupid or dangerous yet during this session but it will take some time and persistence for him to do things without thinking or resisting.

Good confidence building. Looks like a lovely horse. Mine I don't think had a start with gentle hands like yours and is a bit rough but wasnt ridden until she was 16. You'd love it down here in New Zealand the Maoris let their horses run wild in the bush along East coast into Te Uruwera and they breed very hardy sure footed resilient and when handled very calm and bomb proof. Mine took one day to be able to shoot a rifle off her back without her worrying about it.
