I've got to say, I quite enjoyed watching your mass unboxing video of a bunch of hardware a few days ago, and then seeing the individual reviews pop up in the following days like this one. It creates a nice continuity and connection between your videos. Smart move, and keep it up where possible. 😉

we need the max fan rpm to know the noise levels, just saying subjectively "how quiet the card remained" dont work for other people.
my take on the card that it could not possibly be quiet because of the big power draw of the 1080ti, im sure it hit 2000rpm and silence starts at 800rpm on avg

I'm currently running an OC GTX 1080 from Inno3D. It's capable of 4K, so there was no real need to upgrade so short time after it's release to the "ti" version, but anyway I've ordered the Aorus Xtreme now and can't wait it's delivery. I'm just curious if it is worth the huge amount of bucks spent, I'm really hoping it will impress me and I won't regret replacing my 1080. It's a luxury move, of course.

  • @weecious

Why wouldn't you include GTX 1080 Extreme Edition OC..? It'd be interesting to see how it stacks up against Founders Edition 1080 Ti.

Its actually a quadrupled 3-phase so it actually would probably have worse voltage regulation than the reference card although it still does have a higher power headroom

According to tomshardware.de it uses an uP9511 8 phase buck controller
which is configured for 6 phases. For each of the 6 phases a uP9111 is
used for phase doubling. What is your source?

This means in a lot of games it'll hit between 60 to 100 FPS so don't get a 144hz monitor if you plan on running 4k and don't plan on seeing more than 60 FPS if you buy or own a 60hz refresh rate screen. You are only capable of seeing as many FPS as your monitor can display.

you say even with the overclock it didnt hit 70 degrees... 3 minutes later, running at 73 degrees in BF1 tank scene...
aside from that small slip, really enjoyed the video, and this solidified my order for an AORUS 1080ti

    • @Hardwareunboxed

The BF1 footage is demo footage of the benchmark pass. It was not recorded using the Gigabyte card, rather it was recorded by whatever card I used when I first tested the game.

This card is massive, is it a 3 or 2.5 slot card? I hope cards bigger then 2 slots dont become the norm, I understand trying to keep the card cool but EVGA's FTW 3 is a 2 slot card. It would be really cool if you could watercool a GTX 1080ti!!

I had a question. I already do have a Sapphire Nitro+ Rx 580 8 gigs limited edition with i7 7700k and a LG 27 inch 1080p IPS 5ms GTG 1ms MBR response time 75hz freesync monitor. If I want to do two way crossfire in near future, do you recommend it? Thank you.
Edit:- I have a cooler master v850 850watt power supply 80+ gold rated and MSI z270 gaming m7 motherboard and sufficient cooling in my nzxt s340 Elite because of front mounted 280mm rad of Corsair h115i and 4 case fans(including the aio cooler fans), 2 of them are 140mm intake fans ( came with the aio cooler) and the other two are 120 mm top and rear exhaust fans ( came with nzxt s340 Elite).

OngoingTech I can't sell my graphics card because it is not old. It is a Sapphire Nitro plus Rx 580 8 gigs limited edition which came out just some weeks ago. I built the PC some days ago. It's fully new.

    • @DonViper77
      @DonViper77 7 років тому +3

I got a slightly worse model of the rx 580, and I`d say you are set for now and atleast another year on 1080p.
You can just chill out and oc the card to 1500mhz if needed (You won't need it now) and in a year or so with the new gpus out there you can reinvest in a better card + monitor..

    • @Darkseth88

And those games, that support Multi GPU, only scale with 130-170 % performance... So no, i wouldN#t recommend it too :) If your 580 is too slow at some point, upgrade to a better one. Single GPU > Multi GPU all the way ^^

    • @Darkseth88
      @Darkseth88 7 років тому +2

If you have enough money for a GTX 1080 ti, then 600 dollar for a Monitor is a piece of cake. Monitors last MUCH longer than ANY GPU could. And you benefti from a Monitor 100% of the time. From a GPU only while gaming. ^^
So there is no problem spending more money for a good Monitor, than for your GPU.

so I have this card and it causes games to crash in gaming mode and OC mode. I unistalled aorus software and use msi afterburner. so far it is only stable with a 12mhz UNDERCLOCK from stock, with power limit slider to 150%. those are the only 2 settings I change and its stable for now. However the card still ramps up to over 2k MHz in games but it does dip and hit voltage limit sometimes. can anyone help me should I be happy with this card or return it ???
all very confusing I wish I could just click OC mode and be GTG but I want to know if my card is a dud or not, TY

Also your input on how the Ultrawide experience is would be great. I'm not sure if I want a 1080p 144Hz, 1440p 60Hz or Ultrawide 144Hz. Would love a great color gamut and good refresh rates. Actually that copper plate will dissipate heat like crazy, even without a fan. It's a heat magnet. Slap a microfan on that and she'd do even better ofcourse. There's also a dielectric factor to consider which does influence chip speed slightly but it's likely not close enough to do this measurably. I can tell you that there is a secret design anyone can employ to any chip, making space in and around it more superconductive, but it takes more space and a lot more power. I know a workaround but no time for that. It's funny because the tech was discovered in 1983ish but the inventor was killed. My father told me about it while he worked at rca in princeton before ge bought 'em out.

Don't see the point in investing for these type of 1080 Ti variants or any other "extreme" version of a GPU when they will all hit the wall when running on air regardless of the power delivery. It does makes sense when the user is going watercooling/LN2 mode. I guess other than looks and bling, it's pointless at a technical view. Also not to mention silicon lottery.

Hey Steve, I'm in Melbourne and I just purchased one of these cards. Loving the OC performance profile on an Ultra wide. Do you know what manual OC settings in the Aorus software you used to push this card to it's absolute limits? When I touch these settings i tend to get display errors and i need to reset it to default.

Got one on order(Non extreme model). Should be here in a couple of days. Looking forward to using it. It will replace my older 290x. I expect serious performance gains.

why is it i see everywhere, that the founders 1080 ti temps are in the 80's i have mine overclocked to 2050 mhz core and 6000 mhz mem and my temps never, ever get above 75 even in a mini itx bit fenix case....... confused.
Even after 2 hours benchmarking on village, firestrike and valley.

Dual 8pin power connectors. So gaming with GTX 1080 Ti is nearly like gaming with iron [dry or steam iron {not iron (Fe) in periodic table } ]

Why can't more manufacturers make dual slot cards. triple slot cards suck. This card is pretty awesome but it's too big. I'd like to be able to use my other pcie slots geez.

Random question about AMD Vega: Does anyone know if Vega will feature a card with the performance similiar to a GTX 1070 with a lower price? Or are Vega GPU's meant to be a more pricey gen/series?

There was a "leak" of a benchmark where a supposed Vega chip out performed a 1070 and fell slightly behind a 1080. But that was a leak and they can't be confirmed so keep that in mind

According to more leaks for the first 2 months Vega supply will be limited to 16k units. Also several Big Vega leaks 687F:C1 that is the model number for Big Vega popping up in the leaks have shown some tests where an OC 1070 beats it, other tests it was roughly around 1080/1080 OC levels (Star wars 4k test, Also Doom 4k test) Honestly noone knows anything fully currently (The public) Vega does use HBM2 which much more pricey then GDDR5X/GDDR5 memory hence so I wouldnt expect Vega to be as cheap and some may say. Just my 2 cents
