And governments, just as the German regime did in the 1930s did, rely on the wider population's trust in their governments' use of their fascist state actions are only focussed on extremists and the "where there is smoke there must be fire" form of cover.

That of course rolls on into issues of breaches under the Geneva Convention without even considering International War Crimes. The idea that any Statute of Law should be interpreted as endorsing any prosecution to suppress a legitimate International Law would be extraordinary.
