Loved this series of videos. Great for Disney math nerds.
I LOVED Genie + in Disneyland. Such a great time and worth the extra $20. I haven't tried WDW yet, but I will be soon. All of your videos are so helpful and easy to understand! Thank you so much!
I'm glad you found it helpful in Disneyland! Just be prepared for significantly less availability at WDW so you don't get disappointed :)
2 weeks til trip time! Perfect timing for this series 😀
Ooh, we've got almost the same schedule! I'm headed out west in 19 days :)
Yay! Becky Rules!!! Thank you.
We're going in May.
Can you do an updated video of this since you’ve had more time to gather data? This is great!!!
Thank you for Disneyland content!
Becky you are a rock star! As always, this is great info delivered in a way we can all understand. Thank you!
Back to Orlando!!
Thank you SO much, we really enjoy these videos. We used your strategy for our recent Disney World trip and it was amazing. We are getting ready for a summer trip to Disneyland and are looking forward to applying the information you shared in this series.
Thanks for the feedback, Amina! Good to hear that it worked for you :)
Nailed it again guys. Amazing content. So helpful
Thanks Becky, this was super. We’re taking two smallish first-timers to DL in June and it’s nice to know + should be really worth it to make their trip more fun :) Their fave rides will surely be the non LL, but nice to make up time in lines elsewhere. I’d love to know more about the morning strategies for both parks in CA, now that everything has changed. I imagine it’s hard to decipher, esp with less data, but when you all feel you have any clue, I’d love to hear about it. Meantime, Toon Town is shut down for quite some time, so my guess is the smaller kid things are just that much more packed… Thus rope drop more necessary. Anyway, we’re braving it! 😀 Ty again!
I'm headed there at the end of this month ... but without my smallish family members. Ha! But, our awesome in-parks person, Chrissy just took her daughter to Disneyland for a couple of days recently. I'll ask her for input!
@@touringplans thx, & have fun!!
disneyland genie+ is almost worth it for the photopass alone.
Are these findings still holding true with an additional year's worth of data?
this is extremely helpful :) thank you!
I love these updates so much! Thank you! Can I attend Disneyland in the morning and stack genie+ for California Adventure after 1:00 pm?
You sure can! It'll automatically push any second-park reservations out past the park-hop time.
Have not been on a trip in a few years so wanted to get Touring Plans like always to try and get one over on all the lines. So I was surprised to see you guys doing a tutorial on this. Does Touring Plans incorporate this into the plans? I mean I always like to use the plans, but here it sounds like we should use the Genie???
Free Genie will supposedly plan your day for you, but doesn't do a good job.
Genie+ is more like a replacement for FastPass+. Just like TouringPlans helped you make the best use of FastPass+, we want to help you make the best use of Genie+ if you choose to purchase it. You can save time with TouringPlans, you can save time with Genie+, and you can save time with a combination.
What about more planning tips for Disney world. In particular HS or MK
That should eventually be part of the next series of TP Teaches episodes that are going to be about WDW Planning. But if you're on IG, you can also look me up @raisingminniemes, and I have a different "strategy" posted every Saturday - most of them are either for MK or HS.
Hi Becky. Great video. I have a touring plans subscription. Is there somewhere I can see those charts up close not in the video?
You can see it on our blog! Look for "How Has Genie+ Availability Changed?"
@@touringplans I was looking for Disneyland and DCA. Didn’t see it in that blog post. Thanks.
When calculating the price per hour of savings vs. Disney World, you need to somehow factor in the fact that you get unlimited PhotoPass downloads with the Disneyland Genie+, where you don’t get that at DisneyWorld. Buying one week of PhotoPass photos at Disneyland in advance costs $79, so you’re saving that much with Genie+ if you want photos.
This is a good point, and I actually considered it. But since the whole calculation is cost per minute saved, there wasn't a good way to factor the photopass into it. It is _very_ valuable though.
@@touringplans It's definitely hard to decide how to factor it in, but here's an example. We're taking our granddaughter to Disneyland for two days in a couple of months. We typically pre-purchase the PhotoPass plan, so we can basically deduct $79 from the $120 we spend on Genie+, because we would have spent that much anyway. So Genie+ in effect only costs us $41 for the two days. Basically, in our case, the cost per hour saved is 1/3 what you used in your video. It will definitely vary with number of people and number of days, though.
Thank you for this timely Disneyland video! i’m sure this is how Genie plus is supposed to work - one ride after another but it fails in comparison in WDW for parks like Hollywood Studios.
We will be in DLR the end of April and I’m a little worried about the crowds with the nighttime entertainment coming back. Our park reservation for Friday the 29th is for DCA. Do you think we will be able to hop to Disneyland park for fireworks? Do they reach full capacity for park hopping?
Also, we will have Littles with us for five days so I’m trying to decide whether to do fantasy land rides in the morning with no Genie plus or the major rides with no lines and also do Genie plus in the afternoon for the same major rides and fit fantasyland rides in where we can.
Do you have a tutorial on how to use Genie plus with non-Genie plus rides to get the best use of time?
Thanks again! Love your tutorials! 🤩
I've also got a DCA reservation for the 29th ;) I plan on hopping back and forth, but am admittedly going to try to hit the Disneyland nighttime entertainment on Thursday hoping it's ever so slightly less crowded.
My personal strategy is going to be doing all of the fantasyland rides at rope drop. You can get more of them done in a short amount of time than heading with the herds to the headliners first thing.
@@touringplans Thanks! Are they doing fireworks on Friday night only at DLR?
We're predicting fireworks and parade on each night, not just weekends! You can always check the TouringPlans Crowd Calendar for that info. touringplans.com/disneyland-resort/crowd-calendar/date/2022-04-28
Do you need to buy the genie + to get access to the ILL ?
Good question! No, they are totally separate, so you can decide to pass on Genie+ but still purchase ILL if you'd like.
If your first park is Disneyland, can you book Genie+ attractions for DCA before you tap into DCA? Or do you have to wait until you parkhop and tap into DCA after 1300?
Your first reservation can still be for DCA - it'll just bump out your return time to after 1 pm. You just have to tap into one park or the other, but then if you have park hoppers you can book for either.
