I saw your recent kalki interview. Ennakkum katta kural. Kural Valayaradhu kashtam nu sollara ellarum. I am trying my best to make it flexible. I got really comforted after seeing your interview. You inspire me. Thank you maam. We have met in train with my kids in 2006.
I never tire of saying this - Aruna ji, the grace, transparency, feel and knowledge with which you talk about the darker side of a musician’s life and use THAT experience to help us transform our music is invaluable. They say that the best parenting happens when we remember our own childhood. Likewise, the best music education is imparted when the guru remembers her own journey, especially the downside moments of the musical journey. As someone who is childless by circumstance, and has chosen music as the baby to nurture, I am so grateful to Aruna ji for her continuous support in my musical journey. Thank you for baring your vulnerable side and using that as the tool to enhance our musical growth. Though I had heard about this episode in Pt Arvind Parekh’s baithak, it was a pleasure to hear this again. In another video, your simple but powerful sentence “the power of repetition in music” allowed me to delve deeper into thinking that it was the done thing to keep practising one alankar 1000s of times in a day. These are lessons “told” by several but “explained” only by a few. Thank you for everything.
Amma, I really admire you for all that you have done to master this art. It is very very humble of you to not only share your success stories but also candidly share the hardships you have been through and your moments of self doubt too. They are such an inspiration. I am a student of music who wishes to fly too. Whenever i came back from attending a concert, I always used to think that I will never be able to sing Manodharma sangeetham and that maybe I do not have that special quality that it takes. But I once heard your lecture where you had said that you used to feel that way too. That was a turning point for me and I decided that I shall continue my pursuit too. You are such an inspiration. My pranams to you.
Mam, I also have a sad feeling mam 😢😔 I like Carnatic music and singing Carnatic songs so much!! But i never got a chance to get trained by a guru. Everytime i join, for some reason or the other, i was forced to discontinue the class. 😔 Till now i want to learn carnatic music from a guru. But I'm deprived of it.
If you really want to learn than what is stopping you. There is big difference between when you say I want to do something or I will do some thing.. If you really want to learn.. Find a guru.. Any guru that you admire.. Contact them.. Approach them.. That's it.. All the best.
