My son passed away in December of last year and this song came to me in a dream, thinking my son was telling me he enjoyed it. Can't listen to it without crying now. My band is going to be learning it soon to honour him.
Such a great song. Rest In Peace, Neil 🥁💙

Indeed, I could listen to Manhattan Project, Marathon, Territories, and Middletown Dreams in a row all day long. The bass and drums on these songs is simply sick. The lyrics are top notch and so meaningful. Along with Mystic Rhythms ... that makes Power Windows easily one of my favorite albums.

Reggie, Rushes Music that way its composed is very complex yet Balanced...the stuff that Alex composes is something from the old days of Beethoven, Bach, that era, to play that complex music back in the 70s so good like someone who plays it when they are established, to write music and compose it is Masterclass, he is the best Guitarist of all time....I think hes better then EVH for the sole reason of the complexity of the music written...and I know its hard to compare Guitarist, like Page, EVH, Hendrix, but I think hes a step above...they are all great...my edge goes to Alex.

On that album Geddy silenced almost all the synths for Alex's solos though the songs are dominated by them. A show of respect. The result is not more hollow due to heavy reverbing of gtr sound and razor sharp, complex rhythm work by Neil and Geddy. Fascinating.

One of my absolute favorite songs with Rush. I remember when i first heard this song, it absolute blow me away. And specially the synth melody sling in the middle is something that i can hear a million times over and over. This is one of their best albums together with Signals. Keep drumming in heaven Neil. Thanks for so many incredible moments when i was sad, your drumming and Rush music always kept me going.

Greetings: That is not a "melody...". That is fill. However, Geddy- still rocks it good... As always. Sometimes it is difficult 2 think he never wanted 2 play piano / keyboard / synth. He learned 2 help evolve the band. Fortunately his playing supercedes his voice here. The later years were stressful on him. RIP Neil.

This one has all the Rush trademarks.
Incredible individual mastery of their respective instruments.
They're all three on fire here, especially Neil.
Multiple changes of pace, jazzy improv part in the middle, Geddy hitting that note one more time.
Most of all, that patented Rush groooove is present. Deep in the pocket, all of them.
So blessed to be alive when they were performing.

No. The answer is really that simple. They are one of the most creative bands, and certainly the most technically proficient band, IMHO, that I've ever heard. They sound like no other, and most people who hear them for the first time can't believe that they are only a 3 piece band. Their music is so ... full ... as one commentator so aptly put it. The sounds they produce and their arrangements are so stunningly complex and the transitions are beautiful and powerful. They are a great, great band and influenced so many others.

Aw man... I was sooo into this and caught in this greatness... I saw Neil having fun at the end there and just thought of how much I miss him, how much WE all miss him. Love this band like family I’ve never met. Such gifts they have given us with their talent.

This is amazing and Power Windows probably my favorite Rush album. Only one complaint. I have seen a few live videos of this on UA-cam and the audiences are always lame during this song. What is their problem? I saw this on the Clockwork Angels tour and it was incredible. Read one review of Clockwork Angels tour and a guy complained that they played a "bunch of new stuff then a bunch of 80's stuff he didn't know". Didn't know the Power Windows stuff? What are you doing at a Rush show?

Favourite song from 'Power Windows'. Lyrics filled with truth. This is how most people live their lives in the Western World. There's always that thing which will make things better down the line. Neil, you've go that knack...

I watched Rush live, on video, MTV (LOL) and owned all of their albums from 1977 - 2015. I attended many concerts (15?) including their final show. Awesome. Every time I heard a new song or b-side live, whether in person or on video (ie: Middletown, Digital Man, Natural Science, Turn the Page) I was always blown away. These guys are the best live band ever. They won't be replaced until something drastically changes in the music industry. Love Rush.

Nearly 40 years of listening to this song and I never realized almost the entire song could be played with just a snare, base drum, hi-hat, ride, and a couple crash cymbals. There’s one single trip around the toms that doesn’t occur till all the way after the 4 minute mark. I wonder if it was a conscious effort by Neil to stay off the toms as much as possible on this song.

it's so heart warming seeing neil goofing/smiling while he plays (=celebrates) the drums, I'll sure miss that ..., but, after all, his (& theirs) retirement after 40+ years is more than well deserved: just think of all he, & the whole of RUSH, did & gave us music- & lyrics-lovers ... !

To those criticize the vocals. As long as he's on pitch, and isn't using any aid (pitch correction). He was like 60 years old for god sake. This song was written when he was 34. Saying the vocals are terrible is just inaccurate. They're not great, but the song isn't ruined by it.

Maybe my favorite of the entire catalog. Not their most complicated or imaginative. But the theme of the song, with all of its highs and lows, just crushes me every time. That last keyboard chord ... chills.
