Do you have any tips and tricks for console users you can share with us?
What's your go to starting set up for forestry?
Do you start small or go all out with a harvester?

@@tiffa1968 Great shout. After I posted it I started thinking about front hitches and how to use them and had completely forgotten the tractors will have a hitch on the front link. It was more that I'd never ever noticed the tele's had them as well 🤦‍♀ Thanks for watching and reaching out

This has been really helpful, TY. The de-branching is a pain, the best way I have found is to kneel and chop them.

That's great to hear, thank you, glad you found it useful 😃 And thank you for taking the time to comment and leave such positive feedback.
It just takes a bit of practice and before you know it you'll fly through them

Nicely done. I couldn’t figure out how players were trimming trees. I can’t wait to try it. Your explanation was priceless.

@@PapaStitch ah that’s superb if I’ve helped! It certainly takes some getting used to, and it’s not as easy as it was on 22 but it’s do-able with a bit of practice 😀💪🏻🌲
I highly recommended stripping them and chipping them if you want to chase the money

Ahhh brilliant, I didn’t know about the modded attachment for the telehandler. Over the last few days I’ve spent nearly a million quid trying the front loaders and excavator attachments etc. This looks like the solution I was looking for. Cheers. Subbed.

Thank you, really appreciate it. I really like it, have to be a little careful with the collisions, and it certainly seems to work better when you can get a 90 degree angle which the Merlo can't, but we've all got our own styles so if it helps you out then all the better 😃🦾
Thanks again for the comment and taking the time to engage, very greatful

very informative video, as i had no idea where to start with forestry, keen to try but always got into a right mess.
would love to see about getting rid of the stumps and small bushes as ive struggled to do this , even get things to work.
would also love to see what we then do with the logs, i'll check your other vids incase you've already explained these points. but thanks again

Thanks for watching and taking the time to engage and comment. Long reply warning ....
So I did a video a few weeks back on lumber and sawmills which may help a little, but was more around the processes of the mills than anything.
For me, it all depends what way you want to go, if its story driven, financial, side operation to farming or main/large scale lumber operation.
In terms of the stumps, it's a grind (accidental pun) and can be very laborious. Personally, again depending on the style of game, a quick fix is to pain the area so you can see them easily and then go to work removing them. I remove a couple in my new series in Ep02 I think it was. But large scale, there will be some mods sooner or later that make the job a bit easier. Small headers and you can just "mow" the land to remove them essentially, which is my number one choice for ease and time.
What to do with logs is very dependent on your story. Logs/Lumber in general just as everything else has a value and seasonal price change if applicable. You can just drop it off at sale points for cash. You can use a chipper and turn it all in to wood chips and take your trailer to a sale point (so far this seems to be the best way to make money from wood), or you can own a sawmill production, drop the wood off there and that will convert it in to additional products such as long beams which can be sold, or used to build the new shed mechanics, or the temple (it needs soooo much)
Glad the video was somewhat helpful and I hope you give it a go, I personally really enjoy the forestry aspect of the game but I know a lot of people dislike the grind/repetition. Thanks again for watching 😃🌲🪚

I am too lazy for all of the cutting, measuring, lifting and transporting… I instead buy a lumber mill, place it in the area where I have a lot of trees and drag the full tree (or cut into 6.6 ton pieces) to the selling point and sell it. 😂
When I am done in that area, I sell the lumber mill. 😉
But I might miss the whole point of the game! 😉😂🤷‍♂️
In any case, it was a great video and I was able to learn a few tricks. 🙏

@@CyclEdd nothing wrong with that approach, I’ve occasionally been known to drive down a road with a full tree stuck on the front of my forks 🤣 we play as we want and works for us. One man’s insufferable grind is another man’s joy 👍🏻💪🏻

Then again, I am in the infancy of working with timber… and still finding the controls for the more advanced tools too complicated for my fingers. 😂

Shame you didn't cover processing the logs as wood chips.

    • @TheMidLifeSimster
      @TheMidLifeSimster  2 дні тому

I did consider it but it almost feels like its own topic. I want to see what Giants to with the next update as I think they'll nerf woodchips, but if not I will bring out a follow up that focuses on the processing process with some pros and cons.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, really do appreciate it
