Thanks, the motor has quite good shields in place, like X-ring rubber shield and top of that another dust/rubber cover. I'll do shields cleaning some day. The best video for showing some details :-) It looks like the water goes in between the axle cap. I would add water resistant grease in there.
im using a Shimano EP8 with 9000km+. I won't touch it until it gets out of warranty. After that I want to be sure to have ready for the overhauling the necessary roller bearings and sealings before opening it. I don't think it makes sense to reassemble the drive unit with the same pieces. Thanks for your nice video anyway
@@RMFUNTIK I've done the cleaning and greasing the motor and I think I have found the source of that black grease, looks like it comes from the snap ring that holds the big gear on the shaft, I removed it and all the grease around it was black. 👍
rattle noise? no it's still rattles, but less, but that was not the point of the video, bosch says it's not ment to be service... but we can see what happens after 5000 km
@@RMFUNTIKFirst of all great video. 2 suggestions......1. The blue thermal paste. I think you should replace it. Once you open the motor the paste breaks and you lose the good contact. And I have also seen on other motors that the paste covers more surface on the board, close to the edge where you see all the small pins. 2. It is a good idea to remove the crank arms and apply grease on the cranks from the outside of the motor casing for better protection. I still think that the motor was fine and it was too early for this kind of service.....
@mallias2683 I agree, greasing around the drive side outer circlip with thick grease after every ride might prevent moisture getting between the shaft and freewheel.

@@vashon100 well Bosch say you can ride in wet conditions, but not rides over water or something like that, but seeing people have problems with their bike after some time.. and repair ain't cheap, so I do not recommend, it's even not safe to store that bike after a ride in the house, short-circuit might cause fire... I have over 11,000km on my gen 4 and never serviced. This video may change that.
I might soon replace bike with new bosch gen 5 version.
