As a fellow person with a damaged spine due to years of rugger, football and generally moving around all the time I am happy that the worst is behind you. After full disc replacement surgery in my lower spine one of the most fundamental factors that took my mind off the chronic pain was watching Inspector lewis/morse/endeavor family. keep away from meds that contain opiods and the pain will be, initially, part of life, seoncarily, tuned out, and finally phased out. good luck to you and all other fellow chronic pain sufferers. by the by, watching GBN is similar to watching the BBC during the 80s and early 90s (my years in Britain). I am thankful to all the work you and the team put in to keep the Brit culture alive. It is the England i would love to remember. The boarding school years, weekend passes to London, prep and the saturday away rugby games.
Back pain is horrible. I had a spell a few weeks ago where getting up from a sitting position was agony. I was more comfortable standing but that only lasted for a few minutes and was force to sit again, repeating the cycle over and over.
@kevin nassiri I was always dissapointed there wasn't a follow up series called, "Hathaway". The way the TV industry is these days I doubt there ever will be.

It must be remembered that is most definitely not the case for everyone! Otherwise people with a new diagnosis of chronic pain will wonder why they can’t tune it out. I have lived with chronic pain syndrome for 18yrs There are times that tne mind can transcend, particularly if there is a focused event we need or wish to attend. However, this may well bring payback. Please don’t feel you’re not doing a good enough job if it’s hard difficult or feels impossible to tune out.

In some cases, mine for instance, it’s a degenerative condition that only ever gets worse. If it’s definitely diagnosed ‘Chronic Pain’ I’m unaware that it’s even possible to go ‘through’ it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pleased that you’re getting better, I just don’t think giving anyone false hope is helpful tbh

I had cervical spine surgery to totally remove 2 discs. It went really well but the pain afterwards was unbelievable. You'll be fine Laurence, take care of yourself and rest as much as you can. It will get better and you will feel normal again. Take care x
I have a large cervicsl osteophyte ( bone spur) impinging on my spine as well as osteoarthritis, stenosis etc. I get periods tingly, numbness, dizziness and pain but have been told by several doctors unless life becomes unbearable, do not get an operation because it’s not only excruciating but it takes several years to really recover.
Right there with ya, Mr Fox. For me, I noticed the pain would fluctuate and it helped me to hang on while it diminished. Good luck to you and speedy recovery.
