Nicko is not only insanely talented but unique and versatile. His incorporation of jazz and funk into metal, along with his own idiosyncrasies, make him metal's Stewart Copeland. Thank goodness he joined Iron Maiden. I love Clive, who's also very unique, but he's not as prolific, and he would have run out of ideas to contribute.
That's a common thing amongst us metal drummers. When you're really into the music you play drums with your mouth too, replicating what you're doing on the drums with random noises.
Great drumming from Nicko.. Funny when it's Steve Harris's bass guitar that's isolated, there are alot of experts who don't think it's actually Harris playing the bass! That's because we know Nicks drumming sound,that is why there are no dislikes but the bass tracks! All the experts come online then, talking about sloppy playing which is so funny but yet very annoying. That's Harris's style of playing and you couldn't play it any tidier!
This is the drum god NICKO! Clive wasnt able to play as technically as this. Nicko is a beast, drum jesus. Nicko is a way more talented and technical drummer than Clive ever was.
Utter nonsense. Clive was mostly a technique-centered player. He was an innovator. Strictly speaking, Clive's stuff was more difficult to play than Nicko. Had he stayed with Maiden, God knows what he'd be doing before he got ill. I love Nicko of course, and he has my favorite drum setup of all time, but he'll be the first to tell you that he's a student of CBs in that respect. Clive is why I became a drummer and never used a second bass drum. No disrespect to NM of course, but Clive was the (slightly) superior drummer.

Raphael Johnson Clives bass paterns are lot easier and his playing does not swing like Nickos, Nicko makes much cooler and much more fills than he did. Clive was nit able to do bass patterns like in this video. Clive was in troubles with number of the beast and his playing there is pretty damn simple and easy. Nicko plays it much more technically than him and Nickos playing there is awesome. Even i can play the number of the beast like nicko and it is much more technical than Clives playing.
I love Nicko, but he's doing nothing differently from Clive. Any drummer knows that Clive was slightly more technical oriented, but we don't know what he would have done had he stayed. I do love Nicko's set much better though. Its my favorite of all time.

Bigger set maybe, but there's no difference, right down to the ghost notes that only drummers can hear. Nicko was a student of Clive's, in many ways. Had Clive stayed with the band, who knows what he would have done. I love Nicko, but I don't recall Clive needing to yell every time he hits a drum like he's doing Kung Fu. Nicko is great though.
Raphael Johnson so what if he yells like he’s in a Kung Fu movie? John Bonham yells whenever he would do a fill, even in studio he would tell when drumming.

Clive was so good, he was like a drum machine. Unfortunately that ment no character. Which Nicko brings in truckloads.

Listening to the vocals in the background should have been a clue.
It's fun to listen to him despite problems with timing, obvious mistakes and the fact that he is playing every song different every time he performs.
