- The biggest statue in Indonesia is just the beginning of it. It's absolutely bonkers. If you don't know, now you know.

As an Indonesian, i think It is a great idea that you guys visited GWK and appreciated your experience there. It's true that the park is mainly known by non-Balinese Indonesian tourists, because most Indonesians don't go to Bali to hang out in a villa or go tanning by the beach, they like to 'visit' places, and GWK is a great place to showcase Balinese culture and a spectacular place in itself. It's great that foreigners like you guys get to see it. At the end of the day, what distinguished Bali from the rest of the world is the culture and the art that are pretty much represented there. You can get the most beautiful beaches, the most stunning waterfalls in other parts of the world, but you can only experience Balinese culture in Bali, and that's what makes it special.
This feels so true! We feel so lucky our waiter told us about this place, I think it changed the rest of our Bali trip and helped us know what to see and do :)
What I like about the Balinese culture is that its real, its there whether there are tourists or not.
so well put--it's not compartmentalized, it is always there and we love that
Yes balinese culture is the balinese people way of life its not there for tourist performance. Balinese people dance and perform music as part of their worship to God. Its sad that i got the opposite when i visited hawaii...the culture is superficial only for tourist show
@@richpt3646 American Bali, lol
That statue is actually INSANE... cannot believe how tall and crazy it is. I cannot fathom the size of it considering the Statue of Liberty is massive to me LOL but what an amazing time! So much culture and an amazing learning experience :)
Indonesia has some of the biggest religious objects in the world:
The biggest Hindu statue: Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK)
The biggest Buddhist temple: Borobudur Temple
The tallest Jesus statue: Jesus Christ Blesses (Jesus Buntu Burake), taller than the one in Rio de Janeiro - commissioned by the Muslim governor for a Catholic-majority town
The 3rd biggest Mosque: Istiqlal Mosque - designed by a Christian architect
I love Bali island so much. We went to Ubud for three nights. I enjoyed the yummy, cost saving meals, Ubud traditional dancing performance and Ubud monkey forest. We went to treetop adventure park and water temple (布拉坦水神廟) on the way to Northern Bali and stayed two nights in Novina (northern Bali) for watching the dolphins in the early morning. There are so many activities (including Bali SPA) and nature scenary.
Wow.. i am so inspired to go there again.. that Kecak dance at GWK is so different from the one i watched at Uluwatu (another great place). Big thank you Josh & Lis
so glad to hear! :) thank you for watching!
impressive view, I have been to Bali many times and never been to that place unfortunately. It is an underrated place, it looks beautiful.

Bold Statement - This is my favorite video on the entire journey. What an incredible day and unexpected experience. Just an amazing lifetime memory to share with your folks. Great conversation about research/planning because there definitely is a balance between using the resources we have today to satisfy our collective FOMO and discovering your own adventure. You guys won the day!
Wow, thanks for stating so boldly :) we appreciate it! We struggle to find that balance all the time, here’s hoping we remember more often!

Great video guys. We visited that place in October 2019 and that statue was amazing. Bali was such a wonderful place. We watched the show in some type of arena and you're right, it's a bit difficult to follow, but it's just mesmerising.

I appreciate that you make those videos, but I couldn't really enjoy travelling if I have to film something all the time and film it right, so that you can make a video out of it. Kudos that you do that!

Bali is unique, the natural realm,no macth for this world...jangan pernah bosan di Indonesia/Never get Bored Indonesian.
That performance is the Kecak dance, Normally they used to have the performance at the Uluwatu temple (also a must-see for the views). The performance depicts a battle from the Ramayana (Hindu Mythology), in which the monkey-like Vanaras, led by Hanuman (he's the monkey god whose tail is set on fire), help Prince Rama fight the evil King Ravana.

Go to geger beach at Nusa Dua. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained
Garuda is our national emblem. It represnt strenght honour and bravery
thank you for sharing this!
hi, I am planning to visit Bali by end of this month. really inspired by your videos. After watching this video, I am definitely going to this place.
One question though, does this show happen every day? what are the timings of this show?
Hi, the show is available every hour since noon.
💞💞
Didnt know this existed now ill plan a visit for june when we go
Thank you
awesome, have a wonderful time!
Im excited to see this thanks to you guys xxx
I remember last time there in 2018, the statue wasn't build yet. Gosh, that's massive!
Wayan Limbak is the figure who created Kecak Dance. In 1930, Limbak had popularized this dance abroad and was assisted by Walter Spies, a German painter. Tari Kecak actually originated from a Balinese ancient ritual called “Sanghyang Dance” in which dancers fall into a trance. The male dancers who dance Kecak will shout the word ‘Cak Cak Cak’. From that sound, then the name of the dance is Kecak Dance.
we love the visual and sounds that go so well together in the kecak dance. thank you for this information!
go to uluwatu padang padang beach and aling aling waterfall
At 2:43 that is GWK "Garuda Wishnu Kencana"
Garuda was the mount or vehicle of Lord Vishnu
Kencana in Balinese and Bahasa means GOLD.
Vishnu in Hindu mythology is one of the 3 main Hindu gods -- the other two main Gods are Brahma and Mahesh (Shiva)
But that GWK cultural park is something not to miss.
totally agree! it was so beautiful :)
Owned and managed by Alam Sutera Realty, Tbk, the construction of the 120.9 m (397 ft) statue of Vishnu riding his mount Garuda was completed in August 2018. The park has a land area of about 60 hectares and is 263 m (863 ft) above sea level.
So it was completed just before the Covid lockdown.... relatively a new creation... as compared to the other side of Bali... So no really new reviews...
You guys would be among the earliest International tourists to visit GWK...
thank you for teaching all of this!
"You don't have to wear shoes"
😂😂😂
I come across your vlogs by accident. Nice to see people from Hawaii travel further than Japan and the ninth Island 😛
Hubby and I also live in Hawaii and we plan to retire in Indonesia this year. I always want to retire in Bali but Bali is getting more and more expensive to rent a decent place there, so we will try Jogjakarta or Solo first 🙂
Kecak dance, it's called, they shout "cak-cak-cak", hence the name.
Do you advise swinging to Borobura after spending a few days in Bali ?
🌹🙏🌹
Indian Hindutva must see this content video. How majority muslim countrry like Indonesia really proud with their Hindu heritage. Bali is the proud of Indonesia.
I see a FairPrice plastic bag! 😀
Bali sorga nyata ,selamat datang di bali
Dia! Terima kasih
good video Lisa and Josh, do you have to wear mask even outdoor there?!
hey Chris, thanks for watching! and yeah, the rules in Indonesia involve wearing a mask outdoors
@@LisaAndJosh cool good to know, I'm currently in Phuket, trying to see the possibility of hopping to Bali next month. Have been following all your trips, keep it up guys! Y'all are such a nice couple
VOLCANO....DANAU SEGARA ANAK....GUNUNG RINJANI LOMBOK
Do you need RTPCR to enter Bali airport while taking the flight back home from Bali airport? My home country doesnt need test to enter the country.
I think the performance was intended for entertaining purposes and practice for special occasion or something. Because there were some huge monster statue lantern called "Ogoh Ogoh" carried by a lot of people.
That lantern will be paraded & burnt on Saka New Year. Almost look like "Avatar Day" scene in Nickelodeon series called The Legend of Aang.
Salam dari Kuta Lombok Mandalika
Go to Labuan Bajo and Komodo Island
I have been in bali once

There's a song that says.
You carry me when some carry their Gods.
You feed me lord, when some feed their Gods
You fight for me,when some fight for their Gods
Jesus, You no se use me play o.
Um, my name is wisnu
Why did my parents give me the name of God

👌😎👍
Saya tidak begitu tahu tentang kamera, tapi videomu terlihat bagus. Kamera apa yang kamu pakai?
terima kasih! kami menggunakan iphone dan Sony A6600 :)
Are you sure that's not gecko poo? I'm gonna say it's gecko poo. Fruit bat poo is notoriously purple.
Any plans to jump aboard a fast boat for a couple of nights on, say, Gili Air? If so, please say hi to my friends :)
had no idea! we were informed it was a fruit bat! and we definitely wanted to visit the Gilis, but it's not really in the cards for this part of our trip yet :)
Bali the city of Aussie bogans
Hello guys❤️…..can i have the driver contact?
Selamat datang di Bali om, tante… nikmati surga dunia ;)

Bali is to be explored not consumed.

When to some places u will know if the culture is everything... So don't judging the cultures..
WHAT VISA YOU HAVE TO STAY THAT LONG?? NOT VOA THAT'S FOR SURE
VOA FOR SURE!
It is amusing that as tourists, you don't look up the net to understand and research the place u paid so much to visit!!
haha that's an interesting observation. the majority of our travels have been over-researching online before visiting a place and we found that sometimes takes away from the specialness of the visit! so we have recently learned to look things up after and instead, stay focused on what it is happening there and learn from the people around us!
I think your disappointment in Jakarta has paid off 😊😊
we haven't been to Jakarta yet, but would love to :)
100€ for One day 😮😮😮 come to Portugal 😂🤣😂🤣
let me tell you, first of all, stop giving fake titles for viewers to click on ur videos. i guess you guys are newbie to bali..
