For those of you asking about running it on a server:
1) Install server instead of client
2) make a folder for the server and set the directory to the folder
3) run the minecraft server file first (set the eula to true and set your preferred settings)
4) run the forge minecraft server file

So nostalgic because of u I know how to install mods
When I download Forge, everything works correctly- but when I try and open the actual Forge installer, it takes me to this weird page with Internet Explorer telling me to either Save, Save As, or just Open the file. No matter what I do it takes me to this little tab where I can "track my downloads."
Not only is this disappointing because your tutorial is the first one to make sense to me, but also because after over 4 years of trying to download mods onto MineCraft I'm still having the same problem.
I actually started crying a little because I was so close to finally doing it- if anyone has had this problem and fixed it PLEASE help me... I've retried this tutorial multiple times but nothing is changing.

I found out what you have to do
1:update java on java.com
do the thing that he does in the video and when it takes you to internet explorer click "open with" then java should be there then click java and wait a couple seconds then the forge thing will pop up!

TIP: make sure you have a computer that can hold this amount of data (such as Alienware). I can't stress this enough
My computer can handle it (computer proceeds to have a meltdown). But it can handle graphics pretty good and I have like over 100 gigabytes in my computer plus an unused hard drive with 1TB. Please say yes

I Download it off of Tlauncher which has all kinds of forge versions. it works for every mod. :)

Whenever I download ford it says I have to use a app to use it and whenever I use a app it’s doesn’t work I try internet explorer but it doesn’t work
so you need to download the file launcher, try this link, www.lifewire.com/jar-file-4138386 and it'll show oyu what you need, hope this helps!

you need to go to your files and go to downloads and find it and then you open it from there
The same problem was for me but when you are at the forge website click INSTALLER WINDOWS it worked for me i have the mod now.Hopefully it works for you!
