Spot on with the Head Failure problems. I purchased a 2011 Navara D40 off my Neighbor for $1000 (said i could have for nothing but didnt seem right so i paid $1000). To cut a very long story short we discovered that at some stage someone had installed the WRONG radiator cap on it. Radiator cap on this model is a Blanking Cap. (Again) !!! Cut a long story short i rang NISSAN for the correct cap. Shit you not they attempted to sell me the wrong cap which caused the failure from the start.
they are ment to have a flat cap on the radiator and the pressure cap on the header tank. If they are mixed up it pushes the coolant out the header tank
You're an awesome teacher, Daniel, thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills with us much appreciated. Glad I became a subscriber to your channel these videos are very informative thank you my friend they are the best cheers.
I've got a problem finding what caused my head gasket to blow but what I did notice the temp gauge went up down very fast twice I pulled over boiling cooled everything down refilled with water. Wouldn't start dark oil around cap ware pressure blew it out and bubbles in coolent box what would cause that would you know
Did you ever use a thermal imaging camera of infrared thermometer to scan the head and block? I have noticed that there is a common hot spot on the right side of the engine, between cylinder 3 and 4, behind the turbo. Obviously you need to do the check when the engine is hot. The temps in that area are 40 degrees higher than other parts of the head. Bleeding etc doesn't seem to help.
Currently pulling off the head of my yd25, great informative video. Just wondering if the front timing chain plate has to come off in order to get the head off. Cheers
It doesn't but make sure you only take off the bolts that bolt onto the head. If you take the other ones out below it then leaver it you'll break the silicon seal on them. Then you would have to take it off to reseal it properly
Hey blood how are you doing i have a yd 25 it was overheating i changed the gasket but now the its still doing the Same man what could be the isue again thanx
Hey boeta thanks for the uploads helps a lot i have a nissan navara d40 2013 yd 25 i have problems with power she is pulling strong next day she is week what can i check km now is 260.000
Yes but you gotta make sure you don't take off any bolts from below the head or you will break the silicon seal and will have to take off the cover to reseal
Great info! Just starting to put mine back together on the stand and was wondering if you think putting the head on first then the timing chains etc is the best or vice versa.
@@yd2532 yes primed the diesel fuel system, timing seems correct, followed your video 😊 Maybe its compression, don't know how to check on a diesel engine, if the rings are no good, i will end up selling the car lol
get the cams to 10 and 2 then turn the bottom chain so that you can put the pin into the fuel pump (this is top dead center) then take out the pin and put on the top chain lining up the marks on the sprockets and chain.
@@yd2532 ok sweet thanks, i already had it correct, but then i stressed out because i thought the main crank had to be in a certain way, the head gasket was done in 2020, cost me $4000 and failed, the amount of errors and missing washers bolts etc, is ridiculous.
Hi there, such a great video!. I do have a question: do you know how to calibrate/adjust a brand new fuel pump to the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets, is there a guide how to do that (if needed at all). Much appreciate your advise...
I have a video showing how to setup the timing chains. The pump is just a pressure pump it’s not timed so you can spin it and it doesn’t matter as long as you setup the chains properly
Like your video in ok school what's the pounds on the head bolts I work in pounds if you could let me no that would be good I'm just about to do a head replacement on my Nissan navara d40 turbo diesel
Great vids and info as usual Daniel. Already have one of your duplex chain kits fitted to my D40 (other reliability upgrades to come in the future) I have just replaced all 4 injectors on my manual D40 due to injector rattle on cyl 1. Ute had only done 100,000km. Running almost perfectly now (far quieter) but I think I can still hear a very light rattle at light load around two thousand rpm. Any ideas? I coded the injectors with no issue. Brand new genuine scv with rail pressure actual and target checked on scan tool and tracking very well. Are they prone to big/little end failure after injector rattle? I'd actually already pulled the oil pan and no metallic flakes whatsoever.
@@yd2532 definitely brand new genuine Denso replacement. All bought from auto parts supply QLD came in authentic new Denso boxing/packaging with QR codes and so forth. Thing is the injector rattle that was previously present in cylinder 1 is gone. That sound was quite pronounced and obvious. This Less obvious rattle at light throttle load still sounds as though it's definitely coming from one cylinder.
Gday man, just did a turbo swap for a customer, just regarding the rear cover on the head, in a D40 do you know if the rear cover can be replaced easily in the car?
I think I have a blown head again probably around 15000ks ago I had a new head put on it it always seemed it had a heap of pressure in it I just drove it now iam stressing anyway its bubbly from the over flow when you go for s short drive and stop it sounds like it's overheating and hot but it isn't never Moved of half on gauge and hasn't lost any water any where and heaters don't work for about 15 mins till car warms up any help would be great
@@Tasfarmer don't drive it any further, I just had the same issue. Was heater pipe connection blown at the firewall. Mechanic fixed the heater hose connections but didn't bleed the cooling system and done head gasket. So, not trusting him anymore, I'm doing head swap myself. Sick build man enjoying your content keep it up! Question, what causes the exhaust manifold to crack on d22 and how do we prevent this from happening?
I've never cracked one but my mates that drive them through water have. So might be because of the manifold being cooled too fast
