Ok just tried this for the rear mount. Worked like a charm! Car feels like a new car. Smoother idle, no grinding noise before shifting etc. So much easier than the factory manual method of raising the steering rack. Thanks man!!

A great video. I especially like that you gave info on the bolt sizes. Wish more would do this as finding the right size tools takes a lot of the time when first doing things.

So that is what my shaking under load is. Thanks so much for this video!

You're welcome! It's a contributing factor, but its good to check inner CV joints too! If it's one inner CV, it'll vibrate when turning one direction under load

@@TutorialGenius Thanks for the tip. I do notice it more when turning right and accelerating. Was planning to redo the front end on my 2004 Vue when it warms up this spring here in MN and was suspecting a rear transmission mount but had no idea how to get at it without your video. I should sort it out with the help of your videos.

@@retroenergy2358 Not a problem! If it's when turning right, it usually indicates the left side is the problem (if it's inner CV). But new front end will work just as well! I did mine recently and uploaded videos for mostly everything suspension on the Vue. Good luck with it all! Hope it warms up soon!

I love this Video thank you so much. After 300k miles on my vue time to change these. Love the fact they have Honda engines and Transmissions in them. They'll last forever if you take care of them ( at least the V6 engine in this body style vue is Honda. ).

Thank you for this video I’m going to do this

  • @robertgary3561

Oh wow that’s much easier than what the manual says. It has you disconnect and raise the steering rack and remove the bracket from the transmission

While I applaud TutorialGenius for documenting this work, I would never recommend putting a used motor mount into a vehicle if a new part is available and reasonably priced. Even if the used mount was FREE I wouldn't use it if the new part is affordably priced. The reason is that my time is more valuable than many of these parts and I want to do this work once and know that its done right so I can be done with it for another 100k miles if possible. Remember you've got to spend time calling/searching local junk yards for a vehicle that may have an acceptable part and possibly even spend time removing the part, so you've got another hour or more plus travel time and gas to go get it. Now if you cannot afford a new part then I get it, you've got to do what your budget allows.

Each to their own: Sometimes you don't have the luxury of finding new parts.
The same logic really applies to buying a used car vs a new car. We don't all have that luxury.

@@TutorialGenius Notice that I said in my original reply, "if the new part is available and reasonably priced". These mounts are readily available even the original GM Part# is available for a reasonable price at RockAuto. Sure, there are plenty of parts that are no longer available and then the salvage yard or ebay is your only source. I've been there buying parts many times, when I had no other choice.

There is one more transmission mount in the drivers side wheel well. The transmission rests on this mount. So 4 total mounts

    • @TutorialGenius
      @TutorialGenius  11 місяців тому

Not all models have this 4th mount, but yes, some do

    • @kevinchambers4930

Yes, the Honda 3.5 V6 has this 4th mount under the transaxle on the drivers side. It's GM part # (22726738). Good luck finding it in stock though... The other 3 mounts are readily available though.

You can get the rear out with out removing the sway bar

If you have the 5 speed auto trans you need to raise the steering rack if you don’t use this method. This is way easier.
