Buddy is playing the custom made air brushed guitar that Jimi played at Woodstock. Jimi gave it to Buddy as a gift. How cool is that?! Fairwell Buddy, you'll be missed. -Gary Draper George "BUDDY" Miles Sept. 5, 1947 - Feb. 26, 2008
The reason there weren't many people there is because it was a private party. Only a certain amount of people were invited. I can't tell you how fortunate I feel to have been able to be there and videotape it. It's a day I'll never forget. Take care and thanks for your comment. -Gary
OMG ! this one gave me chills it was so funky. that Bass, the guitar, and Buddy's vocals. I can't believe the there weren't more people than that there.
Buddy Miles sang lead vocals for Santana for four (4) years folks... he has a great voice and composed songs using the guitar. He can also be seen playing a Jaguar with Santana on "Them Changes." Randy is impressive.
Thanks for the feedback Tom. It was a private party at San Juan Island (northwest of Seattle) with a limited number of invited guests. I felt really blessed to have been there and the given the oppertunity to videotape the event.
Buddy seems like a guy who would be really easy to talk to. Have you ever seen any interviews with him? He's in a few Hendrix documentaries and other '60s commentary videos.
Coming from a Hendrix background I originally was ignorant of Randy,,,But I warmed to him as I respected how he dedicated his musical career to Jimi, That should be humbling to those whom really "believe they are in this world to be like none other", we do need Guys like Randy to extend Jimi's message to future generations...and Hearing Randy jamming with the great Buddy? Magical, You know Buddy the musician would never jam with anyone who he dint think eat sweated and bled music!.peace..Vonj
I saw Randy Hansen at a Hendrix tribute gig at BB kings blues club at universal city, LA. There were a guitarist there who played left handed and had his daughter on drums. It was the most impressive Hendrix impersonator I ve ever seen, anyone know his name? This was around 2005.
This was a private party on private property at San Juan Island (northwest of Seattle) so I assume they legally couldn't have too many people there without getting in trouble. Buddy and Randy were good friends with the property owners. I'm so blessed to have been there. I will never forget that day :-)
This would have been quite a ways before 2008. I saw him in Portland perform within a year of his death. He was was in poor health, and barely sang or played the drums (there was a different, main drummer playing for the band). His band basically carried him. I had the feeling that a band formed to give him his last tour. It was a fairly small venue, and only about 1/3 third full. This was pretty sad to me, but I'm glad I got to see him.
That is sad to hear. Buddy was such an incredibly talented person and loved by so many people. I videotaped this on August 13, 1994. It was a private party near Friday Harbor on San Juan Island.
Hi Kathy, How ya doin'? I'm just on my way out the door to go see Duffy Bishop. They're playing in Ballard tonight. I'll give you a phone call later tonight. BTW, I posted this video two years ago, but I videotaped the concert on August 13, 1994. -Gary

I think Buddy should have had a chair in the front of the stage. He was an amazing talent. Underappreciated.

@ugotstobkidn well jimi was a real nice guy, too. what did the chick do to get cursed out?
❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Be nice if Hansen was gifted that guitar.
uhhm, yeah, he played drums. ....with HENDRIX!
How is the guitar player making those noises with his mouth. heh, heh, heh.
I really hate the guitar tone or sound. Buddy Miles rocks---did.
All Jimi's pro-band members are dead... Kinda weird to say.. They were all pretty young still.
