Thank you! My keyboard can play midifiles. I download guitar pro tabs of the songs I cover, and I convert them to midi with guitar pro. I then delete the keyboard tracks I'm going to play (usually the most prominent tracks). I play along to the midifile, so I record the midifile and me playing at the same time. But I record audio and video seperately, to get a better quality recording. :)
Hylke, after doing so many CoF covers on keyboard, I have a few questions: -who is your personal favorite CoF keyboardist? -who would you say is the *best* keyboardist? (as *objective* as possible) -what is your favorite CoF song to play? -who is your favorite metal keyboardist in general? Current CoF keyboardist Lindsay told me she found some of the Cruelty album stuff the hardest (for instance Beneath the Howling Stars on the last tour) Cheers
I can say the best keyboard player Cradle had was Lecter. If I was Keyboardist I'd chose to play Cruelty B.T.O, Bathory Aria, Lord Abortion and a lot of VEmpire and Principle of Evil Made Flesh songs as all instrumental ones. My guess If you want to know! :v
Those are a lot of hard questions. I don't really know who my favorite CoF keyboardist is, but I like the keyboard stuff on Midian very much, which also contains the most difficult CoF songs I've covered (although I haven't covered a lot of songs from Cruelty). In fact, the hardest songs one can play on an instrument are usually also the most fun to play. :) However, I do enjoy The Principle of Evil Made Flesh the most of CoF albums, but that's because of the raw sound (the keyboards on that album are relatively easy). As for my favorite metal keyboardist, that'ld probably Mustis, based primarily on Spiritual Black Dimensions. It's one of my all-time favorite collection of soundwaves of any genre, and therefore it's very hard not to proclaim Mustis to be some kind of half-god (although I read somewhere that Shagrath may have written a lot of SBD as well, but let's not worry about that here). I do want to mention though that my favorite "keyboardist" of all time is J.S. Bach. His fugue's are among the finest pieces of music ever written. :)
Hylke95 Thanks for the reply, Hylke. Yeah, Mustiis has some neat stuff as well, although I'm not too much of a fan of the very *orchestral* keyboard/synth he uses on later albums. I perfer keyboard in the vein of PoEmF/DaHE/CatB/Midian (CoF) and EDT/SBD (Dimmu)
Frandalf Stormcrow As a Cradle fan and the one who got Hylke into Cradle of Filth (most of his COF covers are done at my request :P ) I have to agree with all that has been said. My favorite Cradle of Filth keyboardist... it is a tie between Benjamin Ryan and Lecter, probably Ryan could be on the first spot as his works on the early COF demos and on Principle are simply majestic + he has composed a lot of the material on Dusk and V Empire. Though Cruelty's evil strings also hold a special place in my heart. For the favorite keyboardist in general part... I would be tempted to say Hylke as he is the mastermind behind our band's compositions. ;) However, since I am required to be as objective as possible, I will go with Dimrost of Bishop of Hexen. His compositions off Archives of an Enchanted Philosophy are otherworldly and basically took what Cradle and Dimmu started with Principle/Stormblast to a whole new level! Since I am a vocalist and not keyboardist, I will have to say that my favorite COF songs to SING are in this order: #1 Summer Dying Fast, #2 Of Mist And Midnight Skies, #3 Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids, #4 The Rape And Ruin of Angels, #5 From The Cradle To Enslave And if I were to discuss of my personal favorite vocalist, it will be a hard picking as I have been inspired to begin singing black metal due to Shagrath and Lord Vampyr, but as time went by, my style leaned more towards early stage Dani Filth mixed with typical black metal shrieks. Also, I tend to sometimes do a little raspy singing a-la Lordi. :)

It really gets me in the mood for christmas. :)

nice to play ate christmas
Thanks for this very helpful good job!
Thank you!
Thanks for covering one of CoF's best songs up to date!!! T_T We should cover this sometime in the future as well :P
Yes, Thank you!
WOW! That's neat stuff there! :D
No, it's tuned correctly. :)
@akumashindorballomu Yeah, we should. :P
I mean, when you press for example "C" your keyboard actually play the "A#" note and so on.... :)
Do you have the music sheet for this one?
No, but I do have a midifile of this song. Shall I send it to you? I still have your e-mail address. :P
are you playing half tone higher on your keyboard?
Who did this midi song lol
I don't know who made the guitar pro file, but it's on ultimate-guitar. :)
Not that I know. :)
Did you pre-record the song in midi form & then play on top of it? This is genius! This is extreme talent!!
Сильно заметна неестественность звука.
I believe he was being sarcastic....
