Glad to hear you guys discussion Yianni and the concussion. I watched that match and instantly thought of Shapiro and what yall were saying about his coaches letting him wrestle earlier in the season. I thought Yianni's coaches should've stepped in here too.
“Don’t leave it up to the ref” is not practical in top end collegiate matches with any regularity
Yeah I was thinking that too. Plus he went and got the takedown and it's not his fault the ref don't wanna call it a TD.
The reaction time rule needs to be changed to say, "If it looks like a takedown, it's a takedown.

Robert Carter is wrong. Brooks didn't transfer to Penn State.
Nagao was a freaking nightmare last year. Everyone who wrestled him was literally scared of getting hurt underneath the kid... For whatever reason, we've seen a more mellow version but I wouldn't count him out...
I'm still out there on Beau. He has the skills but he just never pulls the trigger. He waits and waits and waits until he beats himself. If his head isn't right, Bo loses... It's all a head game with him.
i’ve noticed that too about Ryan in the background. I always was very curious of that. Maybe he desires most to be in their ear right after the match. Maybe he thinks that that’s where he is best utilized..only thing I can think of. Still, would be difficult for me, as a big time coach, not to be right i’m the mat.
Despite the bad controversial call, one thing is certain Braeden Davis broke the 125 upset curse in a miraculous fashion haha 😂

Wayne,. you are correct on your assessment of the 57, 65 qualifying of the weight. Zane Richards and Nick Lee will go to the Pan am olympic qualifiers at the end of the month in hopes of making the finals (which won’t be wrestled) and to qualify the weight for the united states. If ..either were to lose in the semis say…then the weight for the time being won’t be qualified. We will then have the olympic trials in which the winner of that would get one last chance to qualify the weight by placing top 3 at the last chance qualifier. This is a bad ass tournament that you don’t want to put your eggs in its basket.
Davis and Mesenbrink really bring serious firepower to Penn State this year! Haven't had a 125 guy forever!!! They seriously have a chance to have every single guy on the roster on the podium at Nationals... Could they have every single wrestler place top 3??? It is absolutely possible...
OK State and Penn State have the most awesome freshmen of pretty much anyone. Sooo crazy thinking OK State lost a bunch of guys to the portal but have these new freshmen that are just killing it!!!

I did not have fun when I wrestled oh so many years ago. I got so nervous and hyper ventilated that it was unpleasant. Try wrestling for six minutes and you are at 50 or 60 % before the match even begins. I'm glad I did it however. It toughened me up, it taught me a lot about myself, and it produced a lifelong fan. Cael's philosophy should spread throughout the wrestling rooms of America...also the workplace, boardrooms, all sports teams, everywhere. The grind, grind, grind philosophy doesn't do it anymore, especially with recent generations.
Ramos Boilermakers wrestles Northwestern Minnesota, & Illinois. I think McKee is his biggest match the rest of the way. He will probably win the rest of the way heading into BIG10s. I dont want to wish the season away but I cant wait for the conference championships, more precisely the BIG10s to start

In regards to the Messenbrink Hepner match…I thought a couple things that I credit Ohio State coaches with. 1- being smart enough to choose top in the third. That put their wrestler in the best position to earn points cause it wasn’t going to happen on their feet. 2- When he had the cradle locked up at the end, the coaches gave Hepner the ok to go with it and try it . Shows that they realized that them giving up a major or decision at this point of the match made no difference. In other words, if the cradle doesn’t work ..who cares. Now he ended up not listening to the coaches and just let time run out and that decision is on him and kind of lame.
Another thought in the same kind of ball park is Welsh at the end of the Starocci match. He showed his youth. What’s more important…saying that you lost only 4-2 to Starocci…or going balls to the wall and absolutely doing anything possible, no matter how ridiculous it may seem , to try and get that winning takedown at the end to snap the 60 match winning streak? You put yourself in position to do this.. who cares if you try and get taken down and lose 7-2 instead of 4-2. At least you will have no regrets on not trying something at the end and hey..you never know what can happen. One slick unexpected takedown wins this match. Instead you did exactly what Starocci expected you to do. Do a bunch of very low risk, low reward half shots to make the conclusion of the match be close. Blah.
Guys, let’s not sugar-coat the Penn state wrestling fan noise problem. Look at the faces in the crowd. Everyone in the first ten rows looks like they showed their AARP card to get a discount on seats.
I love Penn state but let’s act like the lack of crowd noise and the older fan base isn’t an issue.

I don’t understand why anyone thinks PENN STATE had a down match against Ohio State…..When they won 8 matches. Is the expectation to sweep all 10?
My O/U for Iowa wins on individual matches against PENN STATE is 2.
The music at Rec Hall is so that the Penn State coaches can talk amongst themselves without anyone hearing their convos.
Stalling being called consistently and effectively by all refs would eliminate lack of action, going out of bounds, and would create more scoring. I feel it’s definitely easier to lay on the mat, than trying to turn a guy laying on the mat. Hit the bottom guy more with stalls.
Do you think refs assume Penn State as a whole scores more, and call less stalls in the match on the other team?
Richie Figs thought he was Jon Jones in an MMA match against Spratley. Suspended the rest of the season. I hate wrestlers who are getting beat & get dirty

Question for Wayne - How many Penn State starters can beat the starter at the next weight up?
For example, who wins Levi versus Mitchell? Or Carter versus Bernie?
I'd say Starocci over Truax in a close one...and that's it.

semifinals NCAAs are ALWAYS THE GREATEST. a close second is NCAA Quarterfinals.
Take with a grain of salt anything Pat throws darts at as far as the skin check thing. He hates Iowa and goes out of his way at times to exaggerate circumstances.
I've had such a hard time with the refs this year. More than probably any year in the past. It has been so subjective and just all over the place!!! They really need to solidify the rules and train the refs...

Figueroa should have been disqualified by the elbow but that goes back to my wacky referees just making weird calls all of them very subjective and no consistency anywhere!!!
Penn st was gross.. best in the country and they get a cheat off the bat.. and Ohio state still wrestled tough
They won 2 matches at the end of the day . I agree it was a takedown , so they win 3 matches , they still lose overall so to say the WORD cheat , really ?? 🤔
