Unfortunately, that is true. Although there are still some left who teach the old system, it is not prevalent. The reason is that HKD schools have become daycare facilities, and most adults do not like to be thrown or lack the health and athleticism to adequately perform the techniques. Contrary to the opinions of many, not everyone is a cage fighter, nor will they ever be. In addition, they shouldn’t be. It’s a very hard way to make, in the vast majority of cases, a meager living ,with no healthcare, retirement, vacation, dental, sick time, or any other benefit. Traditional martial arts are scoffed at now, but they are vastly better suited for the majority of the population than true combat sports.
