Hey Jon. Very interesting presentation! I've got a question - what is THE most coveted 1st pressing? I really only know of the butcher cover of the Beatles "Yesterday and Today", so would be interested to get your thoughts on others. DaveR
Hi Dave - that's a difficult question. Do you rate it by most sought after, or most valuable, or the band that has the rarest 1st pressing perhaps? So many to choose from, but notables would of course include that Butcher's cover you mention. How about a 1st UK 'blue triangle' pressing of 'Dark Side of the Moon' from Pink Floyd? Certainly a more popular record, better known to most, has a very strong selling and buying after-market, and known to audiophiles worldwide as the most sought after sound for that particular record. That's just one more example. I could have chosen 10 others.
Very good first video. There should really be a followup part mentioned where you discuss countering ideas like when remasters are regarded as superior.
This is a records value as an artefact not as a sonic experience although generally closest to the tape will sound best for analogue. It’s all the same with digital until a remastering. Oh and if it was mastered for CD and vinyl separately will count too.

Hi, is there a way to tell where in the line of pressing an LP is, from the information in the matrix area? My LP is first run. Thanks.
