Watching you work is SO fun! What a great tutorial through the process. I'm actually kind of proud of myself for going through those steps (currently) and I know I have learned so much from you. I'd love to see you do a smaller U-shape kitchen, maybe with a peninsula - - for those of us who would love an island but space doesn't permit. Thanks again for sharing your wisdom and "eye". I feel like you are very generous with us.
Utterly fasinating! I’ve come to realise my current kitchen is laid out perfectly, except in wall ovens which I now want (save my back)👍🏻Shame as we are moving so I will just replicate it somewhat. I’m going for a U layout with peninsula instead of an island, as I’ve the wall space. Means I’ve never had a kitchen island in my lifetime, heyho.
I would put the bin between the sink and the cooking station. Imagine peeling an oignon, cutting it fine and throwing the oignon into the pan. It would be helpful if you could shovel the peel layer of the oignon immediately down into the bin. 😊
Such an interesting video! While I also value symmetry, if it were my kitchen I would have wanted the cooktop with ventilation (to the outside, somehow!) and some prep space (and a feature backsplash next to the fridge, and a double wall oven on the other side from the fridge. Then the combi would have been in the island base and the island top would have just the sink and all that beautiful prep space. Since there’s a pantry, I’m a lot less hung up on getting storage cabinets in that wall.
Great video, fantastic advice and hearing your thought process is invaluable. Are you also going to do a video on the butlers pantry? Would be great to understand more about how you see these two spaces complementing each other!
nice tutorial to follow but i wonder as a beginner in kitchen design if you do not mind sharing the where one can learn the symbols of the design , ie a drawer bank , a book or tutorials
Making the space between the back wall of cabinets and the island larger might be more aesthetically pleasing with the scale, but seems like it would make it less functional by increasing size of the triangle. It also seems like increasing the distance there would invite people walking through and getting in the way of the cook. It also seems that even if you have countertops behind the doors if small appliances are there also it might limit the landing space availability and the island is too far away from the oven to be landing space. I also have questions about the energy efficiency and practicality of placing ovens next to the fridge or freezer.
I hate dining areas. I think that they are the most useless use of space in any home. You use the dining table 3-4 times/year on special occasions unless you never work and have parties and gatherings the whole time. I would replace the table with a pool table. Much better for family entertainment and sometimes friends hanging out etc...

I agree, after filming I changed my mind and would swap the bin and dishwasher around. 👍

My thoughts exactly. I was very surprised Michael chose to put the ovens in the middle with no countertops (except behind closed doors) on that run.
Fantastic video I am planning my kitchen at the moment open plan large kitchen dinner with living room, very helpful, thank you 😀
Completely agree with all you said. Very informative video.
This layout will, undoubtedly, look stunning but I guess the sous-chef will be in the pantry with the air fryer....
Very interesting and informative video.

I would put the dishwasher on the right hand side of the sink
people have 3 ovens?

Did I miss it? But why would anyone want their hob pointed at the wall? Depressing view.
🤔 The hob was on the island. So you would be stood looking out into the room with the garden view on your right.
