Agreed. I love the old hymns. There's something unique about the way the writers of the day put their hearts inside the song. They were more or less poetic prayers set to music.

Thank you. It is a vintage 1972 Zb Custom. It was my first guitar. I bought it from a mopar restoration shop. It was up in the loft in need of repair. I had it rebuilt to learn on. I had no idea that l was the owner of a gem. I still have it. However, I usually play my BMI because it just fits my short stride better and lightweight. The ZB is a TANK.

The big wigs of country music are doing everything they can to make pedal steels obsolete.
They want to modernize country to appeal to the younger generation...(insert Rap Country).
As a "Christian Country" songwriter, I was told that some of the producers in Texas discouraged my music because it was too twangy. Instead, they want me to make it sound more like pop rock.
My reply to his statement is simply, don't expect me to change my music just to get airplay. Id rather keep being true to myself.
      Thankfully I found HLE RADIO,
an internet Christian Country station that plays the real deal.. the Honky Tonk sound of a fiddle, steel, harmonica.... and yes, even the sound of twangy telecaster... all with Christian Lyric.
So if one station on earth is all that will play my music, then fine.. I'll keep sending more. And support the station.
Thanks for reply. I appreciate folks who love the old sound. Blessings!

@@JasonWelchMusic i've learned every instrument i play for the most part on my own, by ear. I read very little music.

@@johnw2026 ... Ive always said that too. When I was in 4th grade, they invited me to join band.
The teacher put the music in front of us, then played it on the piano to show us how it sounded.
I played it note for note. She put me in first chair on my first day.
After a few months, she said I had to play it without hearing it first. I told her that was impossible. She said read the music and play it. I asked how you "read" music. ... music was heard. So she pointed to the sheet music. I said I dont know what that is. She says, "then how did you play it?"... I told her because I heard it.

@@JasonWelchMusic yep, sounds about right. There are two classes of people in this world that are under-appreciated: (1) lefties, and (2) musicians who play by ear. I happen to be both. :’-(
That band director was probably jealous that she couldn't do what you do.
Alot of church musicians who can only read music and cannot play by ear can't appreciate the fact that when you get several Holy Ghost filled musicians and singers together in one mind and one accord, playing songs they all know, in praise to God, God just has a way of inhabiting that praise, anointing that music...and it just starts sounding even better, while hearts get touched. THAT is why i don't want to learn to read music any more than i already do. Sometimes if i want to learn a new song, i go get a hymnal, find a song i've never heard and learn it from the notations, but that's about all i can do. Before i can do it in church i have to know it by heart, because i don't read music well enough to play that way in service.

Just one small criticism- since the overwhelming majority of the notes were played on the same fret, it would have been nice if the camera angle also allowed us to observe the pedal and knee lever actions since it would have given us more to watch. It would also make it a bit of a training tool for those interested in learning to play psg. Still gave it a thumbs up.

@@Sluggo01 You're welcome. It used to be a double 10 with a Day copedant before I owned it.
They had 2 or three zb customs that lacked enough parts to function properly.
So they dissasembled my c6th to use those parts to repair the other 2 e9 bodies.
Mine was completely in shambles after it was stripped of parts. Nothing was working smoothly, everything was adjusted too tight, and the changer was gummed up.
A mopar mechanic had it in the loft of his pole barn.
I took it to Tennessee to have it cleaned and serviced. The repairman had to make a few parts, and then he also had some spare parts from a broken guitar. It worked great for a few years until one lever jammed.
So my buddy Corky Owens repaired that one lever (lkl) and got it working flawlessly. The problem was that a regular screw was put where a hardened machine screw should have gone.
I know it sounds crazy, but it cured the problem. The regular screw head kept bending over and breaking off. Now that there's a machine screw there, its a perfectly timed machine. Holds its tune better than most new steels. You simply stretch the new strings and tune it. It stays that way.
I quit playing shortly after this video. I miss playing and need to try again. I just got lazy. I want to learn "Something about that Name"

@@JasonWelchMusic Put a lot of effort into getting it sounding great it does have a nice tone and I do like the mid range of the Emmons but that one that you have sounds great.
Putting that much effort into a rebuild certainly pays off but I suggest keep playing
