This guy was wise man. His believe about us seeing a new sun everyday was kind of absurd but they had no type of knowledge about the stars so it’s understandable. He never forced or claimed his believes were absolute. He talked as a spectator, not as someone claiming to know something for certain as he could have been mistaken, like the sun for example. This guy had it clear
I studied a lot of philosophy. I never was introduced to Xenophanes (or to Diogenes of Sinope, either!). The lecturer here seems very good teacher, and Xenophanes sounds like a man after my own heart, e.g., thinking celebrities [athletes] are just wastes. X might agree with the psychoanalyst Wilfred Bion: social customs are shared hallucinoses aka social psychoses.
Greek Philosophical conceptions of the Divine like Xenophanes became a major on Western Christian theology, even though certain core parts of Xenophanes taught are clearly unreconcilable conflict with The Bible.
The Absolute One, being all-inclusive, is thus the One Absolute Being in which all relative beings, live, move and have their Being, the All in One in All, the Whole that is ever greater than the sum of it's constituents the One without a second.
Lol. This Guy sounds pretty cool and his theories are intresting and all. But He's being overshadowed by the other Xenophanes from the ahh goofy vs exe mod. I feel bad for this guy which is being overshadowed by an ahh goofy evil hegdehog
Well, a few things. First, we should always be skeptical about claims of divine revelation, especially if we only have someone else's word for it. Second, about Africa, it is true that the Egyptians were quite advanced in math (and superstition) for a while before any Greek philosopher came along. However, there is no direct evidence of P. going to Egypt himself. There was, however, plenty of trade between the Greek world and Egypt, so he may have learned via transported books or traveling scholars or the practical knowledge that sailors and traders would have picked up.
I really appreciate your crash courses on philosophers. Thank you sooooooo much. 💕❤️👍💯✔️

Yup, early Christianity wrestled with Greek/Roman philosophy and did a lot of picking and choosing.
