Let me give you a little tip on remounting these little suckers, just leave in the sun for about an hour , let the rubber heat up a little, then they will go on so much easier, your welcome.
Just changed my inner tube on my tiller. Took 15 minutes and no fowl language. What I would advise is use three 6 inch c clamps to help hold the tire from popping back up. As you pry the tire bead onto the rim keep adding c clamps to squeeze the tire to hold it in place as you move your screw driver around. Lubricate the tire bead with any kind of oil. This helps the tire bead to slide down your screw driver. Went faster and smoother than expected. Hope this helps fellow DIY.
Great tips and advice. Thank you for sharing 👍😁
Oil can cause the tire to deteriorate. Tire shops use liquid soap
@@danielebrparish4271 use cooking oil
Very sound advise, yet I feel the use of the foul, not fowl, which pertains to birds, language, indeed helps sometimes when pursuing a job like this.
Lucky
20 minutes and two tubes. THANKS MAN!!! 👍
I did this yesterday. I ended up putting on the ground like you did and used my knees to put weight on it as I got the tire around the rim. It was a lot easier that way. Great video.
a 4" pvc coupler under the hub helps too
I just took my tires and the inner tubes I purchased on Amazon to my local tire shop and they installed them for $10 apiece. Well worth it to save the aggravation, potential damage to the tire, the inner tubes and to myself. 🤓
Glad that worked for you but most tire shops and even lawn mower repair shops won't do tires except to plug a hole in a flat.
@@muffs55mercury61 I guess I'm just lucky to live in Idaho. Our tire shops go out of the way to help customers. Maybe it's because I live in a rural area where the tendency is to always help out others whenever you can. Besides, it's great marketing tool for them since the next time I need to buy tires for one of my vehicles, they will be the first place I consider.
@@rvalens2 Yes rural areas are like that. I live in one. There is a small shop that would likely do it for me but I'd feel a little out of place if I were to ask him to mount tires that I didn't buy from him. He is a used tire seller and doesn't get wholesale discounts from tire makers so he doesn't deal in new tires.
Thank you! I had no idea a tire place would do this.
@@runningdastreetsVA You're welcome. However, not all tire shops will mount them for you. But it doesn't hurt to ask. Les Schwab was where I took mine.
Another tip is with the tubes I got the valve stem on the tube leans a little in the direction it needs to go into the hole on the rim. I inflate the tube a little and mark the intertube on the side the valve stem leans. I didn't do that the first time so when I aired up the tire the valve stem popped out of the hole and went to the other side of the rim. I had to break it all down and turn the tube in the other direction then it work perfectly.
Awesome tip. Thanks. 😁👍
Thank you very much. It says 5 years ago number one leading video on this subject thanks a lot
You gotta be careful not to pinch the tube and put a hole in it. That happened to me on the first one I did. I went to harbor freight and got a couple of tire spoons after that. Makes it a little easier.
😁👍
Your video is the after of the before and after learning to put on the tire right😅. Thanks a ton
Well done, thanks! This is exactly what I have to do. I was just trying to figure out how to break the bead and you got out the PB Blaster, which I just happen to have a can of sitting on the shelf! Time to get to work! Thanks again!
Good luck. It can be aggravating. I finally put foam in all four of my tires. No more air loss now. 😁👍
Glad i have the modern tire that half as thick. Easy to stretch and not dry rotted. The amazon option looks great after watching this. 😂
Thank you! Watching you sweat it out almost made me not try but I had done one a few years ago and really needed this mower running today! I didn't take the tire off the rim though...
👍😁 that’s awesome. You saved big $
Good video from a regular guy giving helpful tips.
Good video, reminded me of the steps I knew but haven't used in a few years. Tire installed, fingers all intact. Thanks
Heck yeah. 👍😁
Thank you for saving me $50.00 instead of having the mechanic do it. Vice grip on the valve; nice touch!
Baby steps! Nice work...about to go do mine now
Worked up a sweat there, Van. It saved me a whole lot of money because I don't have a riding mower. :-) ATB & GL Always
Haha. Maybe one day it will help someone you know lol. I hope you have a great week. And thanks for watching 😁👍
I went through three, new inner tubes, somehow puncturing them on the step at 3:46. The tools I used must have punctured the tube, as I was fighting to get that last step done. I was so careful, so careful, yet wasted my time and money. As I watched this video at this step, I was thinking he was going to do the same. It seems to me that at that step the rim needs to be elevated so that the tire could ride to the inner part of the rim so that it makes more slack. Since you don't know where the tub is sitting inside there when doing that. It would seem that a more blunt device be used to pry the tire over the rim in that step.
The other thing I did was completely remove the tire to cut off the 2 patches I had put in previously. I also put in a 5.5 inch wide by 4 feet scrap of vinyl flooring to protect the tube from all the things that try to poke through when mowing. The tubes that I purchased were 15 x 6, but the tubes are way small to fill in all that space in the tire.
Thanks for the video! Nothing like changing one in the summer heat! Lol Appreciate it!
The stepping on it while using both screwdrivers is the important technique! Lol. Thanks for the video
love how your videos are about saving time n money. Great installation, I enjoyed watching this :)) much love from Australia.
Awesome. Thanks. Maybe this video will help someone you know. 😁👍
Going to do mine after seeing how you did this. Most helpful video. Thanks Bro.
Great video! Thank you! Also sometimes northern or fleet farm has those tires for sale new for around $25. I went for the tube to save $5 bucks tho cause I'm cheap. Honestly great video. It helped me to be patient when getting rubber off and on the rim. I love these videos. God smiles when we use our phone to do good. God bless you all.
Same here. Have a good one and thanks for watching 😁👍
Sometimes it's not the tire leaking but a rusty rim so you'll need a tube unless you buy a new rim as well. $65 for the tire and rim around here...
I wouldn't put B'laster on it. It's a solvent and will break down and soften rubber. Ru-Glyde tire lube is best, but some use dish soap, yet I avoid that too.
tire beads are heavily reinforced- PB blaster will eventually swell/ruin the bead, but it would take years
Have to install 2 tubes into a Deere cart. Glad I found your video, thanks brother.
No problem I appreciate you 👍😁
Thanks buddy. Something I thought would be so simple. Viewers be sure to remove tire lip from stem side of wheel. The locking pliers were crucial
Nice, exactly the video I was looking for, and no special tools needed!
Actually, he has what looks to be a modified bent screwdriver to catch the inside of the wheel.
The vice grips makes it so much easier....I used (2) vice grips.on the rim...made it so much easier
Nice job - thanks for posting! I like the suggestion and will give this a go too!
Nicely done. You might mention the need to inspect the tire as it may have a nail/thorn/foreign object that punctured it still stuck in it that needs to be removed before replacing/repairing the inner tube. Careful not to jab or tear your skin as you feel for the foreign object. I speak from painful experience on this subject. Cheers all.
Great information. Thanks for the feedback. Sucks getting stuff stuck into your fingers though. 👍😁
the best way to check for remaining puncture objects is to drag a shop rag around the inside instead of your fingers. The shop rag will catch on any sharp objects instead of your finger :-)
Thank you, your video help me out alot
Yes, patients is the word we need to do. I don't know how long it took you, you show it just fine
The comments help out to. Thank the comments
Thanks for the tips man it really worked for me
My tire lost its seal. Did not want to find an air compressor. This is what I needed to get the job done. Had to mute the audio... sounded like a porno... hnngh... come on babay... yeah... hnngh... ahh... whew!
Did her today. Your vida helped. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I was having trouble with the valve stem wanting to retract back into tire. Used a small hose clamp on stem to keep it from happening.
I just learned from you. And took off my stupid tire from rim 5 minutes ago thank a lot
Thanks for showing all starting with taking the wheel off. Mine was a bit different but good reference.
Thanks, this worked for me. Thank you for the demonstration.
You’rere a strong dude!!
Thank you so much for making this video it was easy to follow and extremely helpful :)
No problem. I appreciate you watching and commenting 😁👍
Thanks so much I save some money and gained knowledge ❤
Thanks for the help dude, appreciate it👍🏿
You made that look so easy thanks
Thanks for the tutorial brother
Vise grips on the valve stem. Genius! The valve disappearing back into the rim has always driven me mad.
geez put the cap on there
Thanks for your help,I did it😂.
I have the same Popular Mechanics blue screw driver! I bought it 25 years ago I think in Walmart. Time goes by so fast.
I believe that’s where mine came from too lol
OMG you sound just like me, with the comemaw's and you can do it. LMAO. I am so frustrated with this tire and I watched your video and I laughed so hard because of that. I am no longer frustrated. LMAO
😁 thanks.
looks like that PB Blaster stuff really helped out
My hero. Let me try now.
That was very helpful we got a slime tube and it didn't have anything to hold the stem in the hole I only needed to see how you kept it in there all good now
I know this is an old video, But Great simple video, save myself from going to the tire shop. Thanks
Your welcome.
Got my tube orderd thru ur link, hope you get a kickback from it.
I have all four tires to do this year. Tubes coming in tomorrow
I always use tire-spoons rather than screwdrivers when installing tubes. Screwdrivers are more likely to puncture the tube unlike tire-spoons.
Great video thanks. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again
Thanks brother. Have a great week and thanks for watching
this is something my husband would watch, I have no idea about this
It’s cool. I appreciate the channel support and the comment. Have a great week. And thanks for watching 😁👍
Should have taken the wheel rim completely off and filed the welding splatter smooth . They weld two halves together and leave the welding splatter there because the tires are tubeless , you put a tube in there and it rubs on the splatter and goes flat , don't ask me how I know lol
Great instructional video! I purchased the wheel assemblies off Amazon and they started leaking air after the warranty expired. I will install inner tubes into those Amazon wheels next, thanks!
Great vid, thank you sir👍🏻
Good stuff buddy!
Thanks brother. Maybe it will help someone you know. 😁👍
I LOVE IT!!!!!
The amount of anxiety I got while watching you use 2 screwdrivers is immeasurable. 😂
Good Job 👍
use some soap ( Dawn ) or some of the snot they use at the tire shop.
Makes it easier to slide on, just like KY.
nice job, thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
Great Video, Liked and Subscribed!👍
Thanks. And thanks for watching 😁👍
Legend!
Thank You Sir!
likes from me bud :} great for others to learn and you made it look easy :}
Thanks. It was really hot outside working on this. 😁👍 thanks for watching and for commenting 😁👍
I checked where it was leaking in case something is poking through the tire. In my case it was just dry, cracked on the tread so I ran a tube. I broke the bead with a vise. I removed any weld splatter on the inside of the wheel. Ran a peice of duct tape all around the inside of the rim so the inner tube doesn't rub on anything I missed. I used baby powder to make things slide. Wiped everything clean. Had to use vise grip also on valve stem until installed and filled.
I hope I can find my Fancy Schwinn tire tools. When I was a kid the screwdriver always found the new tube while wrestling the tire back on. That's where I got my experience patching brand new tubes.
Good video. I kind'a figured that's about what it would take. Hell I'm already bleedn just taking the wheel off
...... come on baby ! Final words to get that tube in , lol
I had to add a tube to my wheel barrel! Don't pinch the tube! Got it! 👍
Yeah. Definitely don’t pinch the tube. Lol. Thanks for watching Papa Texas. 😁👍
*wheelbarrow
Good work . I use longer pry bars for more leverage. If able to ,I have put a round bar in the center hole for ritating the tire back on , like a tire machine does. Keep up the good work ppl! 😊
Great video 👏
Thanks. Maybe it will help someone you know. 😁👍
Thank you very much!
Thanks!
A Good One With Sweat!
Haha. Digging in brother 😁👍
Great video.
👍😁
My tire was shot, so I ordered a new one from Walmart, (and a tube too) and damn these are hard to get off the rim lol! And even harder to get the brand new one back on haha! I was dripping sweat just getting the old one off ha, I was like hmm, I should check youtube for ideas to make it easier to get on the new one. One thing I'll have to mention, on MY lawnmower, the rim is slightly smaller on one side, (the side with the valve) about a 1/4 inch smaller diameter, so that helps a little to get it on! I didn't think I'd be able to get this damn thing on haha! And yes get the smaller side in first then put on the tube. Like he did. Lube would definitely help. I thought of using some soapy water, (and then letting it dry first) idk.
just like automotive rims- they have a depressed well where you can place the bead to give more room to slip the tire over the rim. there's also a hump which keeps the beads out of there during tire failure in motion. look for that depression in your rim.
Great sharing
Thank you 😁👍
Perfect
Nice to have RIGHT TOOL😟🤫😢😪😥😒☹️
Mine cub cadet has a carter pin. No barring in the rear.
Now mine didn't come off as easy. Hitting with hammer or standing on it. But I stuck a block under it. On the rim. And used two bars and a stationary hole to press off. After easy peasy theres a grease insert on mine. Will grease while off.
Great video thank you
I appreciate you 👍😁
*cotter pin
I'm a typical millennial lackluster practical skills doing part-time work on my grandfather's Ranch.
Thank you very much for showing me how to do this you have no idea how much embarrassment you've saved me
👍😁 I hope it worked out well for ya.
Wow, I have a hard time thinking that tube will up in that nasty inner wheel. Just tons of corrosion in there. I minimally wire brush it with an attachment on my drill.
Nothing like that Georgia heat. 🥵
Sure there is....Georgia humidity. We don’t trust no air we can’t drink.
thank you 🙂
Ugh, you make it look sooooooo easy 😭
It’s definitely not easy lol 😁👍
That’s for the vice grip trick or you just put the valve stem on it and it would keep it from slipping in that button on it with a pair of vise grips is way better
I think PB blaster bad for rubber. Use straight dish soap drops of water. pour a boiling kettle on it first to soften.
Your 100% correct. 😁👍
I noticed you're using screwdrivers. Tire irons will pinch the tube. The spoons are too long. Works great if you're going back with tubeless. I have an idea how to use tire irons to keep from pinching the tube. Put a 4×4 in the ground kinda short with the end up. Drill a hole to insert a short piece of rebar. Set your rim on that. That'll keep the rim from dropping keeping the tube near the bottom away from being pinched.
Thank you for the great advice and tip. 😁👍
Lam.Tot Well.Done
Looks like a couple of mini pry bars would help out there. My father would break down a tire an patch the tube way back when they used tubes.
I was in college and the car needed a tire. We lived on the family farm and he went out to the garage house and brought one out. I took it down to this old guy in town who'd been in business for like a million years. He looked at the tire and his eyes lit up.
It was an old tire, in fact it was so old it was premetric and maybe 50s or early 60s vintage. The guy put it on the car, though, with no problem.
Craftsman tire e clips work well. John Deere require a pair of Snap Ring Pliers. Guess they need to feel special! Lol
You did it quick. I prefer to take the tire completely of the rim to clean and check the inside of the tire itself, and I clean the rust and welding ‘tit’s off the inside of the rim where’s the new tube is gonna rest, I’ve seen them eff the tube up. 🤔
I found a new solution. I bought a new tire and wheel assembly from Amazon last week. I did a video on it.
@@VansWorldGlad that you consider slave labor a decent solution. Jeff Bezos and the People’s Party of China appreciate your suggestion, much more than I do.
I like your foot and two arm trick. You're right it does take 3 hands to do this job.
Fast indeed!
I would of sanded the rust and looked for any foreign objects that might be in the tire or floating around but good job none the less.
