The printer was a bit complicated to hook up ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 but it does the job very efficiently. I like the ink wells versus the ink cartages that cost an arm and a leg. It prints quickly and the quality is excellent. It shuts off when not in use, so you have to remember to turn it on. Overall, it exceeds my expectations. I'll update my review in a couple of months.
Very entertaining. We have been running an M2 DTG for 2 years. We love it. Great quality and we are not having to charge our customers a setup fee per color. $15 is way too low. We dont charge below $20. We have mastered the no cracking and with some trial and error we have our pretreat measurements down. There is a learning curve, as with anything.
How do you not get it to crack? And how long is it taking you to make a shirt on average? Also which printer do you have? if you dont mind answering these

I'm glad I held off on DTG and got our wide format print/cut instead. Those white toner laser printers are looking real good right now, especially for the low maintenance.

I sold mine too! Too many steps. Expensive. The fear of the breakdowns and the cost of repairs scared me. I’d rather do screen transfers. Worst business mistake I’ve made to date. Live and learn!

Sounds like you just may not have been equipped for the machine. My old company I worked for did 600k/year with a 4 man team running one Brother GTX. Just depends on who you are and what you’re working style is.

My man, I make about 40 shirts per day on an Epson f2160 and it takes me 2 - 2.5 hours.
I have worked hard to refine the process and I don't pretreat shirts the day before because I feel like the ink fades on the shirt quicker if you do.
There is definitely space to make a small to medium sized business work in the day and this climate.
I was thinking about making some content about it myself, just not sure if people are interested in that kinda thing.

@@JV-fj7nv THIS sounds like realistic figures with this machine. a single operator 20/25 an hour easily. while something is being pretreating, something is being cured in the heat press, something is being printed in the Epson. be like chef in the kitchen :)

Great video, there's something about you when you talk about t-shirt printing there's definitely a passion there, don't know whether it's because your doing more speaking jobs or because you've been doing it for years but you seem more passionate about that venture. Hey! I'm a fan of DiY and was thinking of making a DTG printer myself. Considering that building my own printer lowers the huge investment and the only cost would be material and ink would it be worthwhile as it becomes much more affordable?

That's so true about constent hours of dealing with customers designs going back N forth making sure the design is perfect... sometimes took hours to wait for response due to work reason, life ect. . That's why you need to make sure the customer has everything ready for you.

You should definitally look at the opendtg or katana. There is another one but I forgot. OpenDTG uses kothari which is a great rip and printing software, affordable units and ink(you can use other brand inks with this also!) It is super affordable way of getting professional looking dtg prints still 1/3 the cost of the epson! They have great customer service and a forum which you can get SOO much help from!
you have said everything i have said for the past 2 years after i bought my epson. People thought i was crazy. The quality is great, soft but too damn expensive and if you dont use it every week the head clogs, and then its 2k to repair. Also you can really only use cotton. That pre treat is sticky as hell too, machine will also clog. You are on point with everything you said. I got so tired of arguing with these guys, i use transfers now, fast cheap high profit margin.

Your channel is pretty cool. Always something fun to watch and learn from. So, this other company that hit you up with half the steps and cost...was it iColor dye sub laser printer?
One thing I miss here is (and I am no expert so don't judge) but can you not use the DTG machine for other things too? Like for printing on things like phone cases. Sounds like potentially that would reduce the steps and improve your ROI (not just cases but just diversifying in general).
