The "Gritty" Part of Brooklyn : Walking Bushwick with Some Rain in September 2022

- Опубліковано 28 вер 2022
- Brooklyn's Bushwick is a neighborhood with an old feel. It hasn't been completely redone and many areas retain an industrial feel. I take a walk on Flushing Avenue, Beaver Street, Bushwick Avenue and make my way west on Knickerbocker Avenue. There is a large Puerto Rican population in this neighborhood, and you can see the many restaurants, stores, and grocery vendors all here.

Thanks for showing more of NYC than midtown Manhattan. So many channels show the same thing over and over. I truly appreciate you showing us other parts of NYC and it’s a true testament as to why your channel is such a success. Thanks again and I wish you the best in all you do.
Thank you so much, I appreciate the support
@@ActionKid You’re more than welcome.
Yes , AK on these non Manhattan walks shows a different side of NYC. The neighborhood people i. e. regular people , old people going about their regular business . There are fewer young single hipsters and tourists seeing the sights and to fancy eateries and tourists traps .
I grew up in this neighborhood and haven't been back for many years. Thanks for the video and for bringing back some great memories for me.
Classic Acton Kid.. Station to station- let the images do the talking .Simply magic..
Thank you so much
The No Cash Bail rules make it even “grittier”
Assuming you are back in New York it is Nice to have you back 👍
Kenet! Do not go to Miami, our family loves your content in New York City, its tourist places, neighborhoods where the essence of this great place is that only you give to know as your video yesterday live! Action Kid is from New York! Greetings from Santiago de Chile!
He lives in Miami for the tax benefits. Savings will allow him to stream and give him the financial flexibility to provide content from many other places. There is more to life than just NYC. LOL.
Thank you for your support
Hey my dad’s luncheonette is on Myrtle Ave. I gotta watch the whole vid after work and see if you caught it on cam. 😎👍
Thank you. My family lived at 900 Myrtle Ave from the time they arrived from Ireland in the late 100s. The house no longer exists. My parents first place was 98 Schaefer St, It too is no longer standing. I was about 5 or 6 when we moved just outside Washington, DC. Neighborhoods are unrecognizable, so much garbage & graffiti. It was a very safe place back in the 1940s to 1960s, used to play out on the sidewalk and my mother would watch from the window. Guess that old saying you can’t go home is true.
Believe it or not I used to hang out in this neighborhood back in 1981 - 1991. Dated my ex-wife and later left to reset my life in Texas with a new wife. From what I see now it's an improvement to back then. I did notice the Sumner Hotel sites where it replaced an old burned out 19th century Synagogue. And the new homes lining Beaver street where there used to be commercial garages and lots. The area was grittier back then. And most people knew each other back then and as I suppose do now as well. AK thanks for taking the time to walk through this area. In my opinion it has changed and hopefully for the better.
🏙️Thanks AK for making all of your incomparable city accessible to the countless numbers of people who dream of someday walking through its streets and neighborhoods.🌆 Love your chill style!
Action Kid is not afraid to walk in the hood, even in Miami. You were awfully quiet on this one, was expecting the "hello everyone!" intro
On an action kid video watching marathon !!! TY KEN
Oh, Action Kid someone told me you did this video and I'm a little emotional because this is where I live. My Walgreens, my Green Corner Market, etc. You passed my mom's former Senior apartment building on Beaver & Ellery (where the porter was pushing that cart thing). My mom passed away in May.😢 You also passed by my apartment building 2 blocks after that. The large graffiti filled building is a former beer brewery (William Unger Brewery) from the old days when Bushwick was the capital of beer making (you probably knew that). It will be undergoing renovations soon. Thanks for the wonderful video showing a place where real, ordinary people like me live their lives everyday. I'd like to add that I'm also of Puerto Rican heritage (parents) and consider myself fortunate to still be able to live in this area.
SuzyNYC63, why can't some young entrepreneur raise the capital (through Kickstarter) to buy out the former William Unger Brewery building, renovate it, and turn it into a brewery (well, a _micro_ brewery) which could rejuvenate that part of Brooklyn?
@@Neville60001 Not sure but I personally would've loved a Trader Joe's there.🙂
This is one of the areas of which I also grew up in. My oldest sister had an apartment in the Bushwick Public housing on this corner of Humboldt Street on Flushing Ave. Spent a lot of time there. Flash back!
Bushwick used to grittier than it is now. Most of NYC was. That was part of New York's beauty. Only if you're from here, would you understand. New York is a blood type.
Thanks for showing other parts of NYC which seems quite more impressive to see! Another great content as always!!!
Well done. This is the walking route I would take to take someone on a tour of Bushwick.
Nice looking neighborhood despite the amount of the graffitis 😎Great looking houses , old but looks nice , thank you for sharing this great walk A K 🙂👍!!!
You're welcome, it was fun to explore the neighborhood and all it had to offer.
The properties design is so Incredible there as well !
Another great stream Ak,keep the excellent work up,much appreciated, your present time in NYC,with all your content is just amazing, you are really a trooper!! Me & my family salute you!!!! Stay safe x
Your videos are my favorite!! NO TALKING just the video!! There's another video where the driver of the vehicle drives around parts of NYC and it's a QUIET ride!! Thanks again!!
AK finally walked past my house 😭🫶

Really into Brooklyn actually!
Videos hit differently after travelling to the city. Great content as always.
Thank you!

House of YES‼️ Best club in Brooklyn!
Wonderful video well done !!👌👌
Enjoyed this walk! 😃
Same . I live in the American southwest and my particular city has 3X the trash on the streets than they do . And they have 4X the people . Thanks for uploading Action Kid .
Extremely dangerous area after dark.
👍👍👍🎥👍👍👍Thank you friend
Flushing Ave is the only area that still looks the same, new building here and there but majority is the same!💪🇵🇷🔥
Thank you for sharing video nice great walk and☔️ be cool oh Wow never heard in NYC about Birria Estilo Jijuana Taco 🌮Mexico B.C and great Enjoyed walk! ☁️☔️❤️🗽👍
Hey ,AK! What's up! It's been a while you were in Brooklyn and particularly this neighborhood I guess! So cool !!! Bushwick seems to be the old one and quite decent !!!
Great Vid!
Seems like it's a center for businesses in Bushwick!
Thank you for showing Bushwick! Some of the street art there is really nice. Some very talented street artists that are better than your usual graffiti ones. Some really nice buildings there, too with nice apartments. Area that I haven't seen. I'm more used to the Myrtle-Wykoff area when I visit.
ROFL 😄 The GRITTY not so PRETTY neighborhood of Flushing and Bushwick Ave, AK. LOL
The Bushwick Collective is an amazing area. Great urban art if youre missing 5Pointz
Absolutely!
My old hang out when I was kid in bush wick my still live out there and also brother and sister, my little brother is the blazing skin tattoo shop knickerbocker
It would help if you pointed camera up at the street sign as you pass, thanks!
Other than the last area it seems fine (during the day).
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gritty indeed , but I like the neighborhood it has potential . With alot of diverse ethnicity that makes it unique . Brooklyn has a kool vibe 😎 AK, hope you didn't get to wet during filming thanks .
Could you go to Brighton Beach sometime?
If he wants to show True Grit he should have stayed in Florida, more than just 'rain' to film there..😱😱
We'll see plenty of Florida content when he returns to the state.
@@HengMiao When it's all over!
Long time follower of your channel & I like to keep it real & honestly not trying to be mean so I don't need anybody coming at me for being honest & actually saying my thought instead of keeping it to myself like some of you others are doing. This video was kind of just aah for me. I mean if your going to take us someplace we don't normally get to go & then not say anything at least let us look around. You went past a lot of interesting things to be looked at but for like the 1st 35 minutes we were pretty much seeing just what was right in front of you. Even at street corners you didn't let us look left or right for different view. Not until you got to Knickerbocker station did you really start letting us see thing other then straight ahead. Who knows maybe you didn't realize what you were doing & even if you did it on purpose it is your video so you can do what ya want. Just my thoughts. Have a blessed day..
The freaks must come out at night . Just looks like another ordinary day in an urban inner city neighborhood to me .
Hi.AK
Sidewalk bush-wick'd..
Bushwick is such an interesting place to walk around. I really enjoy looking at the Bushwick Collective and getting lunch at Bunna Cafe when I’m there!
what school did you go to in New York AK? I remember you looking around at Halloween last year👍♥️ I think you would enjoy visiting the UK🇬🇧
Show us the Grit… 😂🤣😂🤣
could you upload subtitles in spanish
Love your videos. But please be careful walking around the city as it is not safe. It’s like walking around inside Rikers island (the city jail) with all the criminality. I was raised in Queens, moved out twenty years ago to the suburbs for work. With that being said, most of my family is licensed to carry and we don’t even want to step foot inside the confines of NYC. God bless.
Would you like to upload them with subtitles in Spanish
This area is most depressing. Even the graffiti is uninteresting.
The park by the name Maria she was marry a drug dealer that became a snitch and harry kill her by mistake
What a shame the kids that live here have no respect for their own hood.
I wish you did not walk so fast past things, like that amazing grafetti. And some of the details on the buildings look interesting. Maybe it is not a good thing to stop and film things.?? It would not be respectful??
Bushwick MTS
This isn’t the real Bushwick , go back to late 80’s 90’s n early 2000’s, Bushwick then was the truth, real gritty, u might not make it home grit.
