Micah had a rough start and struggled to pull it back, it’s much harder when there’s multiple cameras watching every shot AND you know you could be in for abuse if things go wrong.
We’ve all had days when the score just slips away. Golf is hard and is unforgiving. TPC Myrtle Bech is no joke either.
The fact he dug in and kept going till the end increased my respect for him ❤

To be honest most of the strokes over par were the first 6 holes after a few battles with the trees. After that not too bad so for sure he kept grinding it out.
I’m no Micah fan or anything, but I’ll defend his score with my dying breath. People just don’t understand that tournament golf barely resembles the game people call golf on a casual Saturday morning or even some local club championship. If you’re criticizing any of these guys and you’ve never so much as pegged it in a qualifier, you need to keep your incorrect opinions to yourself

Micah is a good dude. Golf is tough. Great players have bad rounds and learning to play in tournaments is a skill. S/o Micah for grinding through the good and bad

George is a professional golfer on UA-cam. Matt Atkins is a professional golfer. Tyler, the 15-year-old, plays in tournaments all the time, in tournament conditions. These guys played well. Seems like all the UA-camrs who scramble, roll the ball, take drops from out of bounds, and take gimme's did not play well. Make of it what you want, but UA-cam golf is entertaining, not the same as tournament golf.

Micah almost always plays courses where you can blast it 340 without worrying about where it's going. When was the last time anyone saw him play a tree-lined course? I mean, Purcell Farms maybe? And that's a maybe. He doesn't test himself. He plays in the sunshine on wide open courses with hardly any trees. So really it's no wonder that he couldn't handle this. Dude just plays Disney golf.
Purcell isn’t even that tight. Most of the courses here in WNY are fairways and trees
He should play the course that Bob Does Sports did when they did the taco eating challenge. That course was nothing but trees.
Huge congrats to Matt Atkins. Guy has been busting his ass for a while and nice to see him get another opportunity on the PGA Tour. He's played a ton of Monday qualifiers and finished within a shot or 2 of getting through so I couldn't be happier for him

He had a sponsor exemption to Myrtle so the thinking is he might have talked to the organizors to give his exemption to his brother but that is unconfirmed. No clear word what he is doing that week. We will probably find out after the Byron

I shot in the 90s on day 1 one of my club championship after a blowout on the first few holes. Day 2 i shot 20 shots less in the 70s. Felt like a win.
Yeah i played in a state am for my first tournament for 5 years since high school as a 4 handicap and shot an 87 😂 putting nerves got to me. Finished 75 77 once i got myself in check

Many of these guys are just not tournament hardened. They’re all used to playing with no pressure formats or only playing with and against the same 12-15 people. I think Garrett backing out, was a smart move, based on what happened to Micah.
Yeah Garrett made the right move. Micah was never winning this qualifier, he doesn't have the mental makeup to play tourneys. George was the only guy who could have won. His short game isn't good enough, look at Cole hits it 50-100 yards shorter off the tee and beat him by four, because of his short game. Didn't help his brand, but he'll be fine.

i have no hate for Micah but i think the main reason he's hated on is because he has a really big ego. i feel like he overestimates himself. I dont care that he shot bad in the qualifier im just surprised that they let him in knowing that he would probably shoot in the 80s.
Such a good point. He comes off as such a narcissist, ego maniac, and an immature sore loser. Guy thinks he's the next big thing in golf and when scores actually count he's complete trash. People don't like fakes and he is one.

The only "youtuber" in this event that could break 80 on a true PGA setup was George or Luke. I played on a couple of PGA prep'd courses from the tips...just to see....HOLY cow, it was a completely different game to be sure (I had a 7 handicap at the time and had good distance) and yea, breaking 90 for me was AWESOME!

Finch is a hell of a stick and could absolutely break 70.
There are a number of differences between tournament golf and recreational or youtube golf. One is the amount of stress or pressure, people looking and judging your every moves, rules officials and DQ looming around?. Another big one (for many) is that you're walking, not using a golf cart and therefore there is a certain amount of progressive exertion (in the legs... and they are key in a stable golf swing). Also the courses may play a bit harder. But that's not the main thing (if you're playing a fast greens, narrow fairways, penalty zones everywhere course like mine, 😎 and have some length). The pressure, the pressure...Add true TV cameras, and you have a recipe for disaster if you're not used to it (and you loose that "competition ready" status fairly fast when you don't compete in proper such events regularly).

I think Luke just went for it once he found out the teen was -2. He tripled the 18th. There comes a time…are you trying to qualify or just put up a respectable score.
Micah left his cousin and the good good boys (who made his UA-cam career) high and dry to focus on his own content (most of which is what he was doing at good good with challenges just with different people now) and to focus on making it pro. He shot an 85. Karma.

Not really. I've played on a few courses (well, two) just after they hosted a Challenge Tour event and yes that's no joke, but a lot of "normal" courses are "tournament courses" and barely set easier than on tournament days. The lower level federal competitions I've played, however, clearly showed me that the pressure in such events, from the rule officials to the other players being so "on it", to caddies, families and friends cheering and following (and watching you as well)... That's another level, and golf being such a "slow" sport, you have the time to make knots in your head and loose it, even when you are a usually fairly "even keeled" individual.
Grant is just always reliable. Even his character is so likable.

@@benlaforce2915 reliable in the sense of always staying on top on things and a positive attitude. Guy keeps his head on shoulders no matter what. That’s is what will make a good golfer. Anyone can shoot a low round and be stable, but to shoot high and still be stable is impressive

To Tigs defense, his putting has been a challenge which puts extra pressure on his long game. He will work through this difficult stage and learn from his mistakes. He’s a talented golfer going through a rough stretch.
This tournament to me exposed the big difference between UA-camrs and professional golfers. There is NOTHING wrong and a great accomplishment being a scratch golfer. But consistently shooting under par daily on any course at anytime is a big jump between scratch and tour golf. It’s like a good basketball player and the guys that play above the rim. I did watch the entire 2 1/2 hours at normal speed. They should have put up the yardage. Besides that I enjoyed. Keep it up Nate. You’re on to something here. It’s all new.
I had always suspected it, but these results tell me that nearly all UA-cam golf creators are fakes. Sure they are good golfers, but editing makes them look much better than they are.
I don't get all the hate towards Micah. He is a decent golfer, but is just a long hitter with no other game even approaching tour level, even mini tour level, and that is where I think the issues stem from, when you post videos about going pro and winning a "Pro Tournament" that he has in the past. Tournament golf, and youtube golf are two totally separate pressures.

personally, the people who ribbed Micah for his poor round should really stop. Hell I am just sick of them hating on him like he's friggin Putin or public enemy numero uno. he's a great guy who is a bit of a headcase on the golf course, but most of us are headcases on the course? i just don't get why he gets so much hate. Hes really a chill guy. Does he sometimes think his game is better than it really is, yes, but there are also times he is playing well but gets down on himself easily and spirals, so it balances out in my opinion. Bottom line is Micah is a good dude and people mocking him for shooting in the 80s in the Q should be ashamed
What people have a hard time understanding is your handicap in general compared to your handicap in competition (especially at this level). There are plenty of scratch golfers out there who just dont have the mental side for in competition golf. To be able to play at a high level if your struggling with mental and/or nerves is so difficult. Look at the bottom 15% of the guys on the PGA Tour and look how even they are struggling to even come close to making a Cut most weeks. Its a unique sport, very unique when it comes to Mental side.

Then you wonder why people have a good laugh? when he finally plays a course where you can't drive on the wrong fairway, take a preferred lie, scramble to 5ft for a gimmie and shoots 14 over 😂I'm not religious, but he claims to be, maybe Proverbs 27:2 would be good bedtime reading for him. Therefore, “let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips”

I don't quite get why they invited half of the field being professional golfers. If you are a professional golfer then you already have Monday qualifiers to try get into and win for entry into a PGA Tour event. Matt Atkins seems like a really great guy but he has had over 150 KFT starts and even though he has limited status there he played in over 20 events over there and one PGA Tour start in 2023 and had one PGA tour start in 2024. I can see how you can throw a couple of mini tour guys in there with the UA-cam guys but don't quite understand Matt and the other guys with many KFT starts.
Also what is there to gain to give that one spot to Matt from a sponsor perspective? He will not bring eyeballs to the event because he is just some random KFT journeyman who did not quite make it.
If I was the sponsor I would much rather have announced that I am acknowledging UA-cam Golf and inviting a YT golfer for a spot and then have a qualifier for just UA-cam golfers. Would have made a lot more sense. All I can think is that they wanted to legitimise the level of YT golf ability by having them play against actual pros, but then it's a sponsor invite, in the past this has gone to footballers or other non pro golfers. Or at least if you have to bring in pros do it with mini tour guys or guys not already having been at KFT level. Just doesn't make a lot of sense. At the end of the day no one won out of this event really.

Micah’s driver gets him into the most trouble he needs to worry less about smashing the ball and just getting a shot on the fairway. Once his driver takes some strokes away from him his iron game starts to lack as well.

There's a lot of comments about how tough tournament golf is and that the You-tubers aren't used to it. But all these guys grew up playing junior golf and even college golf, so it's not like they don't have experience playing tournament golf. I am a big fan of George but he pretty much choked on 18 twice. Going into 18 with a two-stroke lead and then losing.

I think one thing to note is that Myrtle Beach TPC was in as close to tournament conditions that it could be for this event. Most of these guys, including Micah and Grant, don’t normally play PGA courses in full tournament conditions. Micah and Grant and FP are good golfers but not tour level players. The players that did well had experience with those kinds of conditions.
I am a 14 HCP. I played Chambers Bay earlier this year and shot an 88 from about 6300 yards (I’m 56 and that is about right for my 220-240 yard drives). I seriously doubt, at tournament conditions with lightning greens I’d get anywhere near that. So I hope they cut Micah and others some slack.
Likewise I have had the privilege to play Four Seasons in Frisco near tournament time and many months later. The same course played very differently, and for a weekend hack, it was nearly 15 shots different.
When you title a video about Micah Morris, it may actually be useful to talk about him. We didn't need an entire recap and summary of every player.
I've always wondered how the fellas who play on sunny days, in t-shirt and comment on the wind (that I could fart harder than) would cope on a British links course. Play Royal Cinque Ports, Aldeburgh or Carnoustie on a properly blowy day, grey clouds skudding by.

We all know he can play. He won that tournament a while back. We seen he can put together a -6 round but he cracked and this course and greens were tough. It happens . I think he was more worthy than a few of the others just talking ability but he just shit the bed hard .

Micah is a solid amateur golfer. Admittedly with the personality of a wet blanket. That aside, I don't think many people had a bad word to say about him until he began his "I'm going to turn pro" stint. That was never going to succeed - and while I'm sure it was done in part to get more views, ultimately it's made him look a bit silly and he doesn't seem to have recovered.
Again, his dour personality doesn't help. While leaving Good Good may have been his desire, at least he could join in with those who are genuinely entertaining. Good luck to him.

Lastly, many of these guys gimme A LOT because of how much match play they play. Also, none of these events are “Opens” whether named them or not, they’re invitationals. If we created a UA-cam tour, we’d make a requirement of 50+ videos in your UA-cam library, a 10 handicap or lower, and no pro tour players permitted. Then run regional qualifiers if you have too many entrants to the main Q. It’s not that hard. If we can get an audience fast enough (we’re trying hard) we’ll do it if nobody else will.

The Q was absolutely the worst editing, hated watch, but watched live non the less to see George bobble in the end. Sucks.
There needs to be a YT golf TOUR. Everyone talks about EVENTS, which have no series, and aren’t inclusive/or exclusive to/of UA-cam golfers, by including PGA Tour pros. If someone won’t make a fair UA-cam tour that includes ALL UA-cam golfers that want to be involved, or at the very least, allow YT golfers to qualify to play, then WE WILL create it. The largest problem is that the people who have the audience have the best chance of making this happen, and making it work. The main 12-15 accounts that play matches against each other, and only each other, or PGA pros are not the only competitive golfers in the YT space. This could be actually badass, and a good feed to GROW the whole sport.

When Micah was pushing the professional golf future he was a little tough to get behind. He was less positive, making the content less fun. Now he’s just having a blast and I love it. Who cares about this tourney. Go be happy with your wife and life and make a living off our views! Most of the hate is jealousy!
