Lived in Spain back in the 90's and they didn't use hot water heaters. Their sinks and showers used a propane set-up. Good to see that someone made a portable version for camping or van life. The doggy bath was a nice solution for indoor use. ;-)
Hey, you two! Happy whatever day it is when you see this. I didnt know about the Zodi shower when I made my list, so I'm a bit more rustic. Five gallon bucket, electric heater and a pump with shower nozzle. Have a great weekend!
Guys! WoW! What a great video, full of good tips and suggestions. That little hot water unit is awesome. Thanks for making the time to share this video. Thumbs Up
Your video just Auto played in my Q again for some reason. And oddly enough I learn something new I didn't catch on to the collapsible dog bath before. My wife and I are getting ready to pick up a very lightweight truck camper for half ton pickup. I've been using our Zodi for years tent camping with a privy shelter but I would like to be able to use the Zodi inside the truck camper and this is perfect!
That collapsible bucket for shower is such a great idea. Combine that with a shower curtain on a circular rail and you’ve got an indoor shower. Brilliant. No need to have a separate bathroom which takes space.
HI Derek and Paula That is a Really great way to get clean when your out and about thank you for the video you both are rock stars we love your video's
Ever make a hotub beside a lake using same sort of system? Simple if you have group of fiends. Use 4 logs and 3 tarps to make tub. Yes it leaks badly but who cares your next to a lake. Buy coil of copper tube for heat exchanged .Get small water pump to push water though copper tube. Keep pump dry! We use a very small genny to power pump. Foat water intake in lake and build a small fire under the coil.Heat the water as it runs through and you have a big hot tub!
Seems like a good system. I use the Helio Pressure shower and it works very well but this is taking it to the next level. Just have to figure out if the extra hassle of heating the water and carrying a bulkier system is worth it..Awesome review..thanks
Another alternative is to heat up water on the propane stove and fill either a spray bottle or lawn sprayer. Was wondering what table you have there. Thanks for sharing.
I'm a new subscriber and finally finished all your videos.😃 You guys are great and had some awesome adventures together. Derek should narrate audio books,he has a nice smooth voice.I do feel sorry for that dodge starter being used on every video, surprised you haven't had to replace it .Ha😂
How is your Zodi holding up? I purchased this exact same unit several years ago and the biggest problem I had was the pump unit failing due to water corrosion to the motor. After going through two failed pumps I finally just hooked the inlet line up to a 3.5 gallon pump up garden spray tank. The propane heating unit has worked just fine. I usually pre heat some water on my camp stove to add to the cold spray tank water. After being run through the heater coils it comes out nice and hot.
OK I love the dog bath item and I am intrigued a little bit by this system and then combining it with a good filter like in the other Boondocking video this could be another kind of system available to use. But you don’t need to use so damn much water in my opinion. That’s why you want to filter that way you can recycle it and have a shower that can last for like an hour with a very minimal amount of water.
Great video. I would also recommend a very inexpensive and compact alternative that has worked for me . You can purchase a 12v shower that plugs into standard 'cigarette' on amazon for $18. Heat a couple gallons of water on the camp stove to the desired temp and your ready to go :)
Good to see you two again. The portable shower might be OK for you younger folks ... but ... not so sure I would want to bother with it. I do have a wet bath with shower in my Class B and in a pinch I will use the bath wipes to wipe down as needed. So ... now that the nicer weather is coming do you have any travel plans coming up for this year?
Portable showers are awesome, I have a colman one that's 20 years old, and I have the big kahuna, I just don't like the small propane bottles...is there a way to recycle those bottles? Cause I stay away from all products that use them.
I've not seen that particular dog bath , can you let us know where to get that? Also, do you hang a shower curtain when you are in the van and how do you hang it? All your videos are so well done!!
After reading other posts, why not try the hot tub tarp method, but see if you can modify a coil of copper and the pump method that self-propels a "pop-pop boat" you can watch on UA-cam with no electricity.
I live off grid in alaska and I get my water from rainwater so its precious. I have the two burner model, but I only use one burner. I have an adapter hose to run it off of a 20# propane bottle. It heats 5 gallons of cold water in 5 minutes. Figure out a different battery power supply, the one it is crap. It is very delicate and breaks easily. I tapped 6 volts off of a car bnattery with a screw or you can use a 6 volt dry cell or something. Lots od ways to avoid the battery pack. Otherwise, it is awesome. well built nice and portable.
Loved this video. You have a link for the shower, I know that was what you were really reviewing, but hey, where is the link for the doggy tub??? I liked that and it would come in handy while out on a long trip, when it is cold, or you are in a more crowded area. Please, send us a link for that tub???? Please! Thanks for the great video too by the way. Lots of good info here.
Warning!... never run the heater without water flow. Rule is: water on and flowing. then turn on heater then turn off heater and run to cool the coil and then turn off water flow. If you run the heater without water you will damage the heater coil and cause a leak and need to replace the heater unit. The Heater coil is not intended to be replaced by consumer. This unit can get very hot so it is best to cycle the water to temperature and then shower without the heater. Do preheat the water outdoors if intending to shower in an enclosed space, never run the heater indoors. Enjoy and be safe.
Sure! Here's a link to the dog bath (we didn't buy it on amazon, and it seems to be currently unavailable anyway, but this should at least give you info about it - we bought it at a local store): www.amazon.com/Animal-Planet-Collapsible-Bath-Carry/dp/B00B75ZL38/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 I will have to dig out the table and get back to you :)
What is the link for the portable dog bath? That is perfect. I am currently using a Sterilite file folder box. I like yours better, because it is collapsible, and it has a drain before I have to drill my plastic storage container.
How does the shower flow compare to a regular shower? I'm hoping to get something that resembles a good normal shower.... is that too much to ask for? :)
Is a shower like that able to wash your hair properly? Guess it's a question more for Paula as she has longer hair haha or is the shower more for quick washes then waiting until a proper shower comes around to wash hair/shave etc?? Great to have another video from you guys :)
Wouldn't you inevitably get overspray when standing in that doggy bath? i'd sew a curtain to the doggy bath and sew the other end of the curtain to a hula hoop and then hang the hoop on the ceiling somehow so you can have curtain walls. Or you could attach one of those children's tunnel toys to the dog bath.. but I think that wouldn't leave much elbow room. Hmmm. Great vid!
I found two similar circular pop-up pet baths, both advertise a patented design without poles, I couldn't find any that require poles: northstatesind.com/product/36-inch-medium-pet-bath-splash-pool/ and www.doogusa.com/products/pop-up-pool-bath the doog doesn't appear to have a drain port/valve.
. . . did not find the zodi shower pump, or the burner reliable, or stable over time.... and somewhat of a blowtorch effect in a defined space around flammable materials other better options sos . . .
+moon glow Thanks for the feedback moon glow! We've been very happy with our Zodi, but are always interested in alternatives. What others have you tried?
thanks, great video. Just bought one on ebay, after watching your video. $148.00 us with free shipping. plus it comes with a tripod shower pole. I realy like watching your videos. hope to be full time on the road at some point. it just seems that less is more. I have a 4br house and 2car garage thats sept from the house and a couple extra sheeds. Plus a 3 story building with stoer front. iI have just mad some great buys and been in the right place at the right time. I owe nothing but still looking to go on the road. the stress of day to day life, up keep ,grass ect is just getting to be to much. I want to keep the store because it has two apartments above it ,but sell the rest. That way there is always a place to come back to,I leave one open at all time just in case family come to stay, you two along with others give people the drive to live a simple life. thanks for the great videos, there are a lot of us who live a life of waiting on freedom. when it can be yours if you realy want it. As long as H.U.D does not mess it up with the new laws they want to pass in the USA. thanks again
I think I'd rather do a wash tub inside the van as opposed to a shower. It just seems like it would be easier, even if it requires double the water. Heat the water on the stove, and it would take less set up time. That's just me though. It's not like I've ever done it in real life...ha, ha.
I suggest while you are taking shower inside your van standing in that dog bath.....you could just attach a pipe to the dog bath darning spot and put the other end of same pipe outside your van ......that would be convenient rather than picking up the dog bath filled with watter......and reduce the possibility of accidently spilling Gray water in uaa van
Hey Blondre3000! Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we tend to have difficulty keeping up with replies in the comments. It's the Grand Canyon Table by a company called Travel Chair. We purchased it from Mountain Equipment Coop, here in Canada a few years ago and have been VERY happy with it. Here's a link to where we purchased it: www.mec.ca/en/product/5036-212/Grand-Canyon-Table
She hast to show him how to back up because it’s just an open field and he probably doesn’t have a level on the dashboard and oh my gosh I can’t believe I watched that.
That’s a whole lot of water when you’re Boondocking compared to the recycling set up I just watched in another video that gives you a shower with 64 ounces. Yes half a gallon of water. And all those parts only cost about $100. Now if you want heat yes that would be extra. But that shower system recycles the water through a filter and allows you to really conserve the water you have when you’re Boondocking or even if you’re on a very low water supply somewhere in the house. This is nice but you’re throwing this water away with this system instead of capturing it reusing it while you shower and then re-capturing it again as gray water for some other future use. If you want to know more about that one then you need to message me or find my channel and I think there’s an email or my Instagram and you can find me there. I did not create this other system I just think it’s better.
It has been brought to my attention by several UA-camrs that I crossed a boundary when I posted a link on their channel to a video asking for help with a personal issue. I apologize for doing so. In my moment of desperation I did not fully think my actions through. I have deleted my link on your channel and humbly ask for your forgiveness.
Hey nice guy and a good demonstration but a expensive shity shower system!! lots of better systems out there where they filter the water and reuse it. Just sayin
I have needed this many times. Truck stop showers are about $15 per pop.
great video guys! it's so good you"re "back on the air"!
That's really clever! I never camped in my life, so I'm always amazed at all these portable solutions to things.
Lived in Spain back in the 90's and they didn't use hot water heaters. Their sinks and showers used a propane set-up. Good to see that someone made a portable version for camping or van life. The doggy bath was a nice solution for indoor use. ;-)
You Sir have a very good voice/tone for instruction videos. Well done. I enjoyed this.
That is super handy! Love the idea of one of these while we are wild camping in Alaska! Thanks for the review and demo!
I purchased one of those units and my wife and I love it for off grid camping. Nice warm showers
Enjoy your videos. Glad you're out camping again.
Hey, you two! Happy whatever day it is when you see this. I didnt know about the Zodi shower when I made my list, so I'm a bit more rustic. Five gallon bucket, electric heater and a pump with shower nozzle. Have a great weekend!

Terrific demo
Just bought one..
thanks!
I love it! What a great idea. I find if I used a portable shower I use less water than in my RV shower. Thanks for the great video!
get that minty fresh feeling where ever you are.
AWESOME REVIEW ON THIS PORTABLE SHOWER YOUNG MAN. THANKS!!!..
Thoroughly enjoyed watching all of your videos! Thank you!
Iam so glad that you two are back GOD BLESS YOU
Awesome, good review good workable system for those of us who don't have showers in our vans.THX
Great useful video. Well done. You really have it figured out.
What a neat set up. Great info vid and done very well.
Great solution for keeping clean in the wilderness 👍👍👍
Thanks Tony!
make sure you turn off the burner before stopping the pump, not running water through the system will fry the Burner
Thanks for the thorough review...been looking at this system and just wanted to see how it all works. Awesome!
HI Derek and Paula That is a Really great way to get clean when your out and about thank you for the video you both are rock stars we love your video's
Love the dog bath! I thought of a metal tub but this is much better! Cheers ~

Great idea with the collapsable dog tub thing thanks for the share !

🤣🤣🤣 Ok, backup!. Ok, stahp!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Parked right across at least 2 wildlife trails. 🤪 Ha! Nailed it! 🙄😳
wonderful demo of the shower; what about the little giggle around the fire ring?
Another alternative is to heat up water on the propane stove and fill either a spray bottle or lawn sprayer. Was wondering what table you have there. Thanks for sharing.
Nice piece of gear!
Yeah, my favorite traveling You Tubers are back!
small usage note: you are not supposed to light the propane without the water pump on. dangerous if the water turns to steam in the burner unit.
cool. o wounder if butane is lil cleaner to burn.

Best video of on the go showering!!
Are those chairs comfortable? I love how small they pack up. Thanks for sharing your tips!
What happens if we stop running water and the burner is still lite.
Does it over heat and burn up?
That is the best idea for a water reservoir
Looking for that portable pet bath. Do you know if it is still available? TY.
Loved this video. You have a link for the shower, I know that was what you were really reviewing, but hey, where is the link for the doggy tub??? Thats nice but feel like it take for ever to set up i stick to pump up sprayer an heating up some water
2:15 to skip to the actual start of the video.
Awesome thank you!!!
what diameter is the submersible pump? I want to use this on a water tank but the tank Has a pretty narrow opening

My piezo broke on this can it be fixed?
Where did you get the pop up dog shower tent bowl thing?
Thanks for the Hot showers product I found it on Amazon but can you at least gave the name of the product for the dog bath thank you.
Can you share the name of your folding table and collapsible bucket?
Sure! Here's a link to the dog bath (we didn't buy it on amazon, and it seems to be currently unavailable anyway, but this should at least give you info about it - we bought it at a local store): www.amazon.com/Animal-Planet-Collapsible-Bath-Carry/dp/B00B75ZL38/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
I will have to dig out the table and get back to you :)
love the dog bath. where did you find that particular style?
Where did you find your dog bath?
long time love the videos where did you buy your camping van. I would like to have a van like your but not new just like yours
What is the link for the portable dog bath? That is perfect. I am currently using a Sterilite file folder box. I like yours better, because it is collapsible, and it has a drain before I have to drill my plastic storage container.
i’d also like to know where the portable dog bath is from. was a link ever provided??
How does the shower flow compare to a regular shower? I'm hoping to get something that resembles a good normal shower.... is that too much to ask for? :)

Awesome shower but the part about doing it inside the van in a doggy shower on my knees is too far for me.
Great as well for anyone with a dog.
I think I'd rather do a wash tub inside the van as opposed to a shower. It just seems like it would be easier, even if it requires double the water. Heat the water on the stove, and it would take less set up time. That's just me though. It's not like I've ever done it in real life...ha, ha.
tabcan a lot more than double the water if do a tub
04:44... It's more sturdy... As it almost falls out of lid...
Judging by the number of responses I guess I'll never find out what table that is

Sweet! Thanks so much man! Been looking for a table that's sturdy but packs reasonably small, this one looks pretty good!
The actual thing part of the video you want to see starts at 2:12.
Everything before that is just BS.

You see the secret to a good marriage @12:00
There are fully-clothed videos about the Zodi hot water shower, and then there is Taylor VanBeek's (censored) video.
Can you bathe a baby in that dog bath?
👍
Zodi extreme
Sticking your finger thru that hole was a bit rude
too many parts n takes to long to heat up...get a small instant on demand...MUCH better.
Hey nice guy and a good demonstration but a expensive shity shower system!! lots of better systems out there where they filter the water and reuse it. Just sayin
NEEDS MORE WIFEY!
