I recently had a rare and wonderful opportunity to spend many hours filming and photographing a wild bald eagle, over several days. This video is really a study of the relaxed behavior and personality of an eagle - up close. I hope you find it enjoyable.

It has to be difficult to decide when to switch between still and video because both you captured are just incredible.

It can be! For flight and action, I prefer shooting stills in most cases, but then I also wish I had it on video. I need to build one of those tandem rigs and run both cameras at once. ;-)

I frequently go to the Upper Delaware River to view the eagles but even live, never with the clarity that you provided in this video. Fabulous!!

I've said it many times before about your photos. MAGNIFIK! I like the combination of the stills and video; they give me different perspectives. I loved watching Edgar grooming her/himself.

never seen a bald eagle in his habitat in such clarity, not even in those documentarys on TV😯

Believe me, it was such a privilege to be so close and for the eagle to be relaxed and doing its normal things.

Thank you sharing yet another remarkable video. What a 3-way match-up - your truly outstanding & skillful use of two incredible Nikon tools, the z9 & razor sharp 600mm. I agree with you, there are a number of images where this magnificent creature appears to study you, as much you are studying it. And that ending, zoom in close up is beyond words. A masterful video! Again, THANK YOU!

Another great video,,,,,I do enjoy the stills, but keeping your distance shows the bird is very comfortable with you around,,,

Fabulous images. I really enjoyed this video. I am really jealous of you guys in the US where you have such magnificent birds roaming wild and can clearly get close enough to get such great images. Here in the UK we have Golden Eagles and White Tailed Eagles but, with the exception of a handful of white-tails, they are limited to the remote areas of Scotland unless you want to photograph captured birds - which I don't! I was able to get a few shots of a pair of White-Tails back in January when they were hanging around Pulborough Brooks - a local nature reserve, but they were a long way from the hides and viewing stations so, even with my Z9 and Z 800 PF and crop mode, the birds appear small in the various images I took. Next year I plan to visit the island of Mull in Scotland where I hope to get closer to these magnificent birds, but in the meantime, I will just enjoy your great images and turn a jealous shade of green!!!

This eagle was much closer than normal, and for a wild animal was not too concerned about humans. This was a great opportunity! Often times they are too far away to photograph. Video can be a bit more forgiving of distance, though.

That’s four hours away from me coming from Virginia. I might have to make a trip up there.

It's a great place - like everywhere - if you're there at the right time for what you're after. The eagle activity will die down in a week or two and be done for the year, but late spring and summer bring other things. Feel free to reach out if you want more info and I'll try to help as best I can.

Cool moments with the eagles. I think you are overcooking your still images. They look vastly different than the video footage. I love the texture slider too, but you may want to pull back a bit. Just my 2 cents

So do you have both the 600 and 400 now?

I do. I know it might seem redundant, but they really both have their perfect scenarios.

I bet if more people would start nature watching/photography, there would be less anger and violence in the world.

I think you're right. Just being out there is very calming and therapeutic.
