I lost my big brother 6week as ago and it's not easy. I. Pray for God's comfort around you. Thank you for your utube contints. It helps us that are not too familiar with all the homesteading skills. Bless you both for giving.!
This video has the most beautiful scenery, I felt so at home watching :) and then a butterfly flew by the camera around 16:49 and I had to replay it in slow motion to see its wings:)) you guys are awesome thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge
Now your brother. Bless you for going out in public. Thank you for your sharing your lives with us. It is very private and I am honored to be part of it.
Hi Josh and Carolyn!! I love that you keep sharing book recommendations in your videos! Could you make a pantry chat that includes a reading list on different homestead topics and show us some of the books from your library? Raising animals, gardening, cooking, etc. We add books to our library each month and really love the books you have been recommending like Milk Cow Kitchen and The Art of Natural Cheesemaking. Thanks so much, Rachael
So sorry about your brother. May The Lord wrap his loving arms around you and your family & bring you all strength, peace & comfort. Another great & informative video. I don’t have much room to plant but thinking I might be able to do this on a small scale in containers to feed 2 people. Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸
Love all this information. I have to tell you that I made a bed for greens, planted, watered and they were about an inch tall or a little more and a family of quail came through and snuck between the wire barricades and ate the whole bed in one night. 😭 I was so discouraged, but seeing this video has encouraged me to try again
I live in north Texas and 99 degrees is pretty hot for us too! We've had summers of 110 with 80 percent humidity and THOSE are tough days! Love your channel and signed up for the canning wait list, so excited! God bless
Excellent info on the greens, I've always wondered how to get more than just 1 time of the harvesting on those. Thank you for this very informative method, I look forward to implementing this in my future.
I too ♥ love the Dragon stir fry mix from Baker Creek. Have you tried seeds from Uprising Seeds in Bellingham, WA ? I have had great germination rates and very sturdy, productive growth the past two years. They have quickly become one of my favorites; along with Adaptive, Renee's Garden and Baker Creek. Thanks for another great "living pantry chat!"
This helps so much! It's my first year in a new zone and it's been a lot of years since I have been able to plant a garden. I can't wait for next spring to plant with purpose and go smaller and mark things well LoL
Oh my goodness!! I'm so glad you addressed the question about the mozerella. I use it more the same way you do; pizza and lasagna. I was wondering how to freeze it. Thank you!!!
I have a question for your Q+A episode: Could you share some of your knowledge of seed saving? Part of me thinks it's just as easy as putting some seeds in a paper bag, the other part says there is more to it
So much great information, guys! We try to do several plantings to extend our season, but you’ve really laid it out well. You’ve done all the thinking 😊 thanks for sharing it with us so clearly. There is so much satisfaction in gardening and providing for your family. Good stuff! Keep up the good work 👍
Great video. I'm just planted romaine lettuce seeds today from seed in hopes they come up. The seeds were from the spring plants we purchased from a local home center. I also planted carrots and bib lettuce from seeds from seed packages about 2 weeks ago. I think they may be coming up but not totally sure.
I can understand not having the dirt on your greens, but what about brining bugs in the house with the greens? Or is that just extra protein? I also wanted to comment on how great the garden looks from what you started with!! Good job!
Great video guys full of wonderful information. Looking forward to the canning series. I know how to can(can) 😉 but the convenient food is what I am interested in something you could just pull off the shelf and heat up🥬I am definitely going to do the planting of the lettuce is in sessions great idea.
Ive newly discovered your channel and am enjoying it greatly! So much great and helpful information! PS.. Carolyn, are you Mary’s daughter ( from Marys Nest? I love her channel also!)
I have my garden in a 4’x8’ area I have 8 tomato plants, 4 hot pepper plants, 2 rows of radishes and 1 row of Per-sane. Off to the side I also have 2 small rows of Sweet peas. But I still have some Dill seeds to put in a pot. [Where can I get goose berry seeds or plant?] Been wanting to plant some for about 40 years.
I know you can’t hold my hand as I try this but I would sure like just a quick video showing exactly the plant size, how you cut it as you go etc. I didn’t hear you mention cleaning it. Bird droppings would be my concern.
you can wash your herbs, veggies, fruit. I grow a lot of stuff at my house nd never have a problem with bird droppings, i eat right off my plant after digging in my soil.
Here in central CA, any greens I've grown in the summer turn terribly bitter in the heat. Is that not a problem up there in ID? Wondering if I harvest them as microgreens, they might not get so bitter... Love your channel! One of my absolute favs!!
How old are your kiddos that are taking the hunter safety? I have a 15 year old and was thinking of enrolling him. Thanks. Looooove your videos and always looking forward to them!
Love the butterfly at 16:49. Such a quick peek of beauty! I would love to know how you mix up your daily salads. Do you have varying dressings on hand or are you making vinaigrettes daily as well?
Kinda binge-watching 😁 so I'm a little late on this. Love the idea on succession planting. Would like for you to go more in depth on this. It's basically my husband & myself. Our son doesn't care for salads. We love them. I guess I'll just play with it & see what works for us. We'll probably end up skipping a day here & there or feeding all of our neighbors lol. 😉 Thanks for sharing & God bless ❤ PS - I've always heard, "You have to eat a pack of dirt before you die."
Hi Carolyn and Josh! I took your advice last year and made some ( alot) of super greens. Im sad to say that we have not used all of it up yet. How long would you say the super greens are good for being stored in a canister with a lid before they go bad? Mine seem to not be as dark in color or smell as pungent as they once did?
Love this video as I'm trying to add greens into my family's diet year round. I am making greens powder this year! Question: HOW, oh HOW can I get rid of slugs on lettuces and greens? Also, How dangerous would it be if I missed one and it got into something that we would eat? I've heard dangerous things about slugs. Thanks!
I see landscape fabric in the background, is that how you control weeds? I’m looking at starting a brand new garden and am looking for ideas! Thank you.
I live alone, so don't need as much greens. I'm going to try sqare foot gardening in sqare cake pans so I can move my greens inside under lights when it gets cold. Any thoughts on that? Thank you.
Could you please tell me the name of the mixed greens you planted? I want to do this for the fall. Thanks 😊. BTW new subscriber! Love your videos and way of life. Thanks for sharing!!
Your canning recipes sound amazing but now that our youngest is type 1 diabetic, all those foods are off the table for us. Maybe my niche is coming up with low carb/high protein options!
Could you please give us your recipe for mozzarella? I try and make all of our mozzarella to, mostly for pizza and casseroles but I dislike the whole stretching part, it burns my hands. I have dairy goats, not a cow, but they work for me.
I’m a confident pressure/waterbath canner. Will there be a recipe book/pdf available for purchase with the recipes that are in the class without actually having to take the class to get them? Especially for the convenience foods?
Question. After going back and watching your introduction video I was curious as to how you would compare this farm with the one in the video. Is one any better than the other? Will this farm allow for more gardens or livestock?
What are y’all thoughts on freeze drying in addition or as an added measure of food preservation. There’s a company Harvest something or another and I would love anyone to comment if you have experience or an opinion.

I really like the term "Living pantry".

Please talk about succession planting! Specifically a timeline for what you grow all year :)
Just heard about your loss. Please accept my condolences and I will put you and yours on my prayer list. Thank you for all you do.
Kudos to you on ensuring the family and kids understand gun and hunting safety! I love that you made it part of your school program.

Moral of the story - Get mesh fence to keep out the quails !

My mom had me canning with her when I was about 10! I still love to can😊
I just got your bread class and made my first loaf!! Soooo amazing!! Thank you
I love this channel. I always feel informed.
I'd love to see how you maintain your raspberries at the end of the season or spring.
"Mockzarella"

It blows my mind how knowledgeable y'all are. How did you come by all of this information and keep up with it? Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I'm finally picking some cucumbers, things fot in ground late here in cass county ND. God Bless you guys!

Thank you for all you do! All of your information is so valuable to our family. Could you please do a mozzarella cheese recipe video??
Thanks much!

I love your videos! Are you going to do a fermenting class in the future?
Great cookbook with TONS of easy to follow fermenting recipes:
Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon
My struggle is more of planting too much! I’m still working on succession planting, and hopefully I’ll have the “too much” under control!
Love the idea of the Dehydrating green.....thanks for sharing all your knowledge.
The garden is the start of the pantry.

Great pantry chat...so much useful information.🌻
Thank you SOOO much for answering my question about the mozzarella! I'm very excited to try this!
Excellent advice. Thanks.
I broadcast sowed my lettuce, spinach and arugala this year. It's making a great living mulch with plants randomly scattered.
Such a wealth of knowledge. Thank you!

You have a beautiful location. ❤
Hunters safety is a great tool for them. My friend used to do that in Sandpoint.

I am curious, are you running water lines to your rows? I am considering adding this to my raised beds. Beautiful harvest! enjoy your vlogs.
How old are your kiddos that are taking the hunter safety? I have a 15 year old and was thinking of enrolling him. Thanks. Looooove your videos and always looking forward to them!

Amen!
Do you have struggles with predators, ie. birds or mice , eating your greens and if so recommendations what you do? Thanks, loved the garden chat
can't wait for the canning recipes

I love all the videos!!! How many acres do y’all have?
Can't wait!!!!!
May I ask what it is that you said you cover the ground with to help it break down the stems? and where to purchase it?

Over 100 raspberry plants? You can count them? Raspberries spread fast here. I couldn't count mine.
Could you please tell me the name of the mixed greens you planted? I want to do this for the fall. Thanks 😊. BTW new subscriber! Love your videos and way of life. Thanks for sharing!!
You said you didn't have to wash your greens after you harvest... What about slug germs and residue on it?
When do you put the fabric down? After each harvest or the final?

HOW do you keep squirrels out!
Call it Clobbered mozzarella!! I love you guys!!!!🤗🤗
You haven't mentioned spinach in your lettuce mixes...do you grow spinach as well?
Will lettuce germinate in the cold or do I need to start them indoors?
I have a freeze dryer, and still want a dehydrator :)
Tho-mas-arella 😘
Carolyn, where did you get your mug?
My. Condolences 😢
What about "letuce sauerkraut"? By the way, I love you channel!
Ants! They always eat my lettuce seed!! Might have to try starting it in a flat inside 🤔
RabbiTs get mine!😒
What are y’all thoughts on freeze drying in addition or as an added measure of food preservation. There’s a company Harvest something or another and I would love anyone to comment if you have experience or an opinion.
COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw it, I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!! 🤓😲😆
👍👍👍👍👍💖💖💖💖
What do you guys do about the white death flying around behind your heads there .we use tennis rackets and a lot of cursing.
I am really confused until about 12 mins. I was expecting greens but I thought it was a cheese video 😂
How can I keep squirrels, raccoons and other wildlife out of my gardens?
Add not bringing more plastic into your house to the many reasons you grow your own.
Classes?
What is your favorite to grow in your garden?
We don’t eat pork and a family do you have other videos on non-pork
Because it’s unclean food
I feel like the obvious answer here is notzerella.
Please tell me you have a still.
Instead of thinking of you as being "cheaters" I prefer to calling it "simplifying"
Because it’s unclean food
