- 💖Mymy our pet hill Myna sings a little Filipino folk song "Bahay Kubo" and says things like "Praise the Lord",. It heard this from another Mynah belonging to an aunt who held her prayer meetings next to it, now we just repeat the phrase it says back. We think it's cute. I get a lot of hate mail over it saying that...I just delete and block if done...so please don't be judgmental and if it pushes your buttons move on. We think it's better than F** you and such. Myna speaks English and Taglish. It also says things like "I love you", it called our dog Max at dinner time and also scolds it. Also, these birds are already on the endangered list. When I got my Myna, it was not so. I would never get another myna or wild animals knowing what I know now.
If you leave a hate message you will be blocked and deleted and reported.. anything rude said falls off my back like a duck. Just saying.

Specifically this type of mynah, other types can also imitate but not as clear as this type.
Bwesit na yan napadaan ako, may sumigaw ng "pangit pangit",,, eh mag isa lang ako. Yun pala yung ganyan ibon, sabi ko, "baka ikaw".. tapos sumigaw pa "walang jowa",,, napatawa na lang ako.

Thanks. He said many more things but my hard drive crashed...he would laugh exactly like, me and, cough, call grandma, our dog, and bawl the dog out. But he never said one curse word A perfect mimic.

I know next to nothing about bird biology or anything like that at all. I'm just amazed that the bird is able to make certain sounds with the beak and a tongue. Does it have a soft palate to kind of... make certain noises? I have no idea. It's just amazing to me that the myna gets that range of vocalization. It's incredible.
My neighbor also had this bird years ago, when girls (pretty ones) would walk passed their house it would whistle (a whistle were one would see a sexy girl kinda whistle)...but if it is a guy especially an ugly one, it goes beserk saying "law-ay ka! Law-ay ka!" It means "you're ugly!" In ilonggo. Yep it knows how to speak ilonggo. i would hear it from next door often as a kid.

It learned it from an aunt's bird. The house myna lived in there, was not near any other house. Only a rain forest in Subic Freeport residential area.

Mynahs are more of ground hoppers...in the wild they spend a lot of time on the ground hopping around. Their wings are not made for long flights. We haven't done anything to it's wings. So it flys from chair to table then hops around a lot. Doesn't spend a lot of time actually flying.
Actually they are like crows walking on the ground.
@@gulonyotalaga Yes. They don't hop but walk. Walking itself is a sign of intelligence in smaller birds like Mynah. They are extremely cautious birds , will fly away to a tree at the slight rusle or movements of people or other birds.

"Kiyaw" is how this type of talking bird is called in Palawan, a province in the Philippines. Kiyaw is abundant in northern Palawan.
Ang Kiyaw po ay more ang yellow than the black.. Myna is more in black than yellow

I also had a mynah called Chillipips. His favourite food. He used to say..Feed me Chilli, feed me now! And What a leg, boy oh boy? Also sis pooh, chilli stinks...chillis got fleas and a lot more. He has passed on and so miss my feathery friend. He was an orphan, kicked out of nest so he had a human family.

Yes, I totally agree. When we bought my a in a pet store in Alabang, I didn’t know better. After moving to Palawan I realized the problem. I would never buy a wild animal again. Myna passed away last year at the age of 13.

I had a talking parrot.When I was away in abroad for two months ; I had sent him to my friend for care. That friend liked it and the parrot als won his heart.So I gave the parrot to my friend for ever

Otter Mom, I used to have myhna.bird some years have passed. He was named prince but he died. I cried a lot because I treated him as.my own son. He sang a little line of song. So sorry about Prince. Mymy died at the ripe old age of 13 or 14. I miss him saying “good mornining po” until I said it back. He learned so much more over the years, almost conversing. Miss him everyday.

we used to have a myna bird!. She would say good morning to us everyday. still remember when my brother asked me to buy her feeds, he said just buy dog food for a bird, i thought it was weird and he's just making fun of me, turns out it was really their food 😆😂
Myna also learned to say good morning. Many more things that he said in this vido mwhen he was still learning. As for dog food, mynahs cannot process iron and so we never have him dog food. Only fruits, insetcs and a special pellet for mynahs. It think that is why he lived to almost 15 years old!

I have seen two and three mynahs in an atrium talking away! I never knew this myself till last month when we visited someone who owned three in a large outdoor cage and they were all talking and singing.

Sorry, cannot breed as we had only one. Bawal na to get them. Also mynah passed away na at the ripe age of 14. We miss him terribly. I will never get another one as they are endangered na.

Geez, I can't believe you received hateful comments bc your beautiful fella (or gal?) said "Praise the Lord." What kind of lowlife would criticize that--even IF they don't believe in Gd!!! Not to mention as you said, look at all the birds who swear and who imitate their owners yelling at eachother and being mean or disrespectful. But at any rate, how could anyone fail to see the beauty in this family video and especially in this gorgeous bird--It is really almost only incidental the choice of phrase she is speaking, as she is beautiful and breathtaking no matter what she says and I had never before seen this type of bird! Your Mynah looks REALLY happy! I can also tell that MYMY is in a very loving home. Unlike other videos that I've seen that other Mynahs are in their cages.
