- It's amazing how human memory works. Due to implicit memory (emotional memory), I was able to remember the place I visited at the age of 5. That's 28 years later. One may ask how is that possible? To find the exact place and even the people who lived there? The answer is; Implicit memory. You see, when I was 5, during our vacation stay in the village of Belaya Tserkov (White Church, area an hour away from Kiev), I almost drowned in the river that you will see in this video, my father saved my life. This emotional near-death experience was imprinted in my implicit memory. I later realized what the cause of it was. The thing is that as a child I was always hyper active and curious, so I always challenged adults around me when I would get bored or with lack of stimulus to discover something new. So I found that the chicken house in front of the house, where we stayed in Belaya Tserkov with an old lady and her niece and children, had chickens laying out eggs, so I would take the eggs and through them onto the dirt road like white oval bombs that explode. This made the old lady very angry and she was always running after me with a tree stick to give me a beating. I guess this made me feel guilty and sooner or later the universe caught up with me by teaching a lesson in that river.
