Russian President Vladimir Putin met his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, in Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat. This marks their first interaction, taking place during a summit honouring the 300th birth anniversary of 18th-century Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy. Earlier, the Kremlin said that key bilateral issues, including the ongoing West Asia crisis, are on the agenda of the meeting. The meeting comes as tensions escalate in the region following Iran's missile attack on Israel. Meanwhile, the US accuses Iran of supplying weapons, including Fath 360 missiles, to Russia. Western governments claim that Iran is fuelling Putin's war machine in Ukraine. In return, reports suggest Iran is seeking Russian Su-35 jets and S-400 defence systems.
