Exquisite Narration. In the early 1970’s when I was 18, and living on Beacon Hill in Boston, I would frequent a “Butch” bar, as it was referred to then, called Sporters. Leaning against the central rectangular bar one night, much to my surprise I turned and noticed Rod McKuen sitting at the bar, nursing a beer. and seeming relaxed and at home.
