The only thing worse than losing your home in the fire was NOT losing your home in the fire. 😂. Being stuck there with a home you can't live in, instead of getting 500,000 dollar check. That sucked.😂

yep our house was the only one that survived in the neighborhood, everyone got a half million dollar check and moved away, we had the go to court and fight the insurance companies to pay for damage to our house and we are still doing repairs , I wish our house would have just burned down and we could move somewhere nicer. the peoples who's houses survived are the ones that ones that got screwed.

My concern would be finding home owners insurance companies that would even want to insure a homeowner there or how extremely expensive it would be.

I understand your concern completely. We have some really solid relationships with different insurance agents here in the area that have been able to help our buyers get good insurance for decent rates, but California in general has experienced a huge increase in overall insurance costs. I know they are working on it to see how they can mitigate the rate increases, but I think we're going to see these higher rates for a while.

@@TheNorCalLife well that’s quite hopeful. My husband and I will be looking in your area in July to in a couple of years possibly move there if we don’t get priced out of home costs or homeowners insurance cost.

In 2006 the ex and I looked through the area. It's a beautiful part of the Siera range. Lots of healthy air there.

Definitely one of the many reasons we love this area.

I had the good fortune to visit Paradise in 2002 and found it to be a beautiful and charming town. After the tragedy of 2018 and the enormous recovery efforts, your assessment and advice to new arrivals seems to me very fair and balanced. Wishing you and the town of Paradise much success in the future as rebuilding continues.

Thank you so much for compliment! I hope you get to visit Paradise again as it returns to its former glory! There are a lot of committed people in the rebuilding process and we are very excited and fortunate to be apart of finding homes for people there! Thank you for watching our videos!

Well, I still have my property on Foster, but if you told me that at some point you could buy property in Calif for around $40k/acre I would have said you were nuts. But here it is. I was just there yesterday and there are still areas that are barren with the exception of undergrowth beginning to overtake properties. It is once again possible for a large scale fire, but not on the level of the Camp Fire.

The cost of land has certainly gone up! Are you planning to rebuild?

No homeowners insurance coverage in paradise or magalia ca. 85 people that they were able to find. Over 2500 people give or take died in the fire. Reason why it's not disclosed is because they were not able to be found anywhere the fire destroyed all DNA on pretty much anything and anywhere. Parades the new out of towers who have moved in complained on how our parade was ran and what was in the parade and took put our ecv part of the parade which is a huge part of history. There is no employment unless u want to work at a gas station. There is also a major drug issue in magalia paradise and crime rate is getting better however it goes in waves. Road paving is only going to be done when the underground electrical lines are all In place. And that won't be completed for years. The main roads to exit our town has wait times for over 45 min at times. Rental rates are at its highest u will not rent a home for under 2500 a month. Apartments are over 1200 dollars a month. Please don't sugar coat paradise please tell your potential clients the truth so they are not upset when they make a big move to the town.

Thanks for the brutal honesty. Your comment needs to be pinned to the top of this post, then copy-&-pasted to other such Sierra Foothill posts. I love it here, but you have to tell people what they're getting into. You don't want the mountain towns to resemble the claustrophobic valley towns, but people need to understand the reality of the trade-offs.

Excellent reply ! We also have went thru the fire thank God no loss but came back after and bought again. The town obviously wouldn't be the same but it's not headed in a good direction I feel. Like other disasters people with money see an opportunity and they come in and start to make changes and since the town needs more revenue they are grabbing at almost anything that comes along, as bad as construction companies getting around inspections, yes it's true ! I know I'm in the business and I have people in real estate . People from other towns are coming up here and ripping thru traffic and not respectful at all. Not trying to take away form this area but talking like it's all so beautiful and quaint is not quite so and it won't be if all this continues

I have heard that the big deal is that the trees burnt down and it’s changed the feel of the town. Did they put in sewers?

    • @TheNorCalLife

The feel of the town has changed since pre-Camp Fire, but its building back quickly and is once again creating a tight knit community feeling with great community activities happening all the time. We love it!

@@TheNorCalLife I would think that with homes being built to latest WUI standards, and the fact that Paradise is no longer as densely packed as it once was, that you would be correct. But I have spoken to a number of my friends still there and they have been getting dropped.
