Nice video The one thing that I might add is that ...When doing a lot of detail I usually clear coat the lure first so that mistakes can be removed real easy, before airbrushing or adding foil. The other benefit is that it really adds depth to the finished lure. Rock on man,,, keep them coming.
Thanks man! Funny I said that too somewhere in the video but i must have cut it out :D haha I totally agree on what you say and I do that too, this technique or idea was more focused for those who do not have that control yet over the airbrush to paint nice fins. As you know it takes finesse, and knowledge about your paints. And beginners are going to struggle with that or even some experienced painters I know can not do detailing like that because of physical limitations. But as you said if you want realism, depth and beauty in your lure, painting between coats is the way to go :D Thanks for the compliment and your comment is a good attribution to this video too :D
Great idea. I always struggle with fins. Thanks
Happy to help! Thank you for your comment!
I cut a bunch of fins off menhaden and dried them out, glued them on and clear coated them. Looks great and last forever once coated. Touch up the edge with white and clear coat again.
That is a great tip! Can not get them more realistic right?! 😄
Nice to see someone here explain it simple and clear.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much for the comment!
It appears that the technique may give the fins a 3D effect also...👍👍👍
Definitely! If you would invest a little more time in them to paint some more details and maybe even a tiny shadow underneath the fins, you can really make them pop and look 3D
This is exactly what I've been asking thank you for making this look easy. Your an awesome artist as usual
Thank you so much Brian! Really glad I could help!

Hi
Almost there....the great problem for me, apply the foiling in the body..with glue sometimes don´t pass all, and when is like this, paper autoglue, we note to much the paper...
Maybe You have some tricks :)
My lures are all for saltwatter, so they need a lot of brightness...
Regards, and once again, THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE to teach us!
Hi man! Thank you for your comment! Have you tried aluminium tape yet? This is probably the most commun used foil for saltwater lures. And you can give that fin with aluminium tape any color you want with some transparent paints ( for example with candy2o or wicked detail paints) Other then that the foil I used has an addhesive back and is quite thin, it sticks well and once you clear coat it its all good. I try to avoid thicker foils ;) they are hard to work with
