Poor Ted. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it was for him specially when the interpreter said she is here because of YOU and there’s a clear language barrier and they are discussing him. I had a flash back of kids taunting me in middle school when I spoke zero English.
That's Erine/Erin/Euaerin/E.U.E.rine/Euerine/Lee Hyemin. You can call her whatever you want haha, her real name is Lee Hyemin, she used to be a model before debut and is the tallest in the group at 175.5 cm, she's the main rapper, visual and lead dancer. She used to be one of the lead vocalists/vocalists.
As a teacher myself, applause to the director. He might be harsh but he is exactly what I want to be in my teaching career. I'd love a job at his academy! ^^
I know right! although his approach is unorthodox, I can't help but see the logic in it. I mean, why waste your time and resources on kids who don't even want to be there. and if he has the instinct to tell that from the consultation it's his prerogative to deny them entry. I can imagine it's hell on the finances though. but then again, this is an unpopular opinion I guess
Hannah Mckay Especially knowing in Korea how much students study and are forced to study by their parents. I mean I can understand from the point of view of how the country is why the parents would try their best to get their kids to study, but at the same time in my mind this is not the best approach especially when the child is just not good at studying. Doesn't mean their dumb, but they just are not good at textbook studies and because their worth in life is judged purely on academics at the time, I can see how this director's approach is actually kind of... you know logical. To me it is like the saying "If you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will live all it's life believing it is stupid" or something along those lines. Plus, if someone doesn't want to learn something, they will never be able to. To truly learn something and be successful at it you can't just be pushed at it, you really have to want it. Well, my opinion at least. In summary - you go director-nim!!
I totally agree with the director as well, although business wise, not too sure how the finances can manage. Teaching is education, not providing a service. I can relate that the director just want to accept those who want to learn and improve themselves. There are students with a "don't care about shit" attitude that can bring bad influence on the others. The learning atmosphere is important.
You should have finished at the end the wife said that she really loves Ted and she think he is a great guy and he really loves her sons, the only thing she needs is her husband to change.
I felt bad for him when he said 'I didn't come here to hurt anyone, I just came for the culture.' It felt so awkward watching the woman complain, but her kids & husband were really cool about it. They love him despite the language barrier.
+Noura J I could understand her though. For some ppl it would feel uncomfortable having an outsider in the house. You can't exactly freely be yourself when you have a guest.
That Jessi impression was amazing, Ted seems like such a sweetie and the wife in the second concern is fricking adorable. She looks so huggable. Also that "Tedu~" (28:12) from the first wife was so sweet.
I really like that Ted guy he seems like a nice person & so sincere I like the fact the kids like him. however I feel like Korea is not ready to be international just by looking at their reaction to that Ted guy. I personally don't think I could live in Korea.
demalih I know that's anyone would be freaked out having a random stranger staying at their house especially without getting told. However when the lady was describing the guy saying "black guy with dreadlocks" they all grasped & it seems like they have negative perceptions of black people. It's not only about the show itself but even many people know that Skorean people are racist, it has the largest rate of people being bullied for their race/colour of skin and racism. Also I know this because I know many people that left Korea because they couldn't cope, they said the country itself is not ready to be international. However not everyone is racist some people are nice. I am just saying they are not used to diversity yet like other countries.
Adelaide Ziki we would've probably received the same "freaked out" reaction if she mentioned caucasian with lots of tattoo... I think it's more because the dreadlocks/tattoo are not very common in Korean culture and perceived as rebellious
The wife from the first concern had a right to be upset. Her husband makes decisions without consulting her. She could have done without talking about his dreads negatively, but that's not such a big deal. I was really disappointed with the hosts. Not every black person speaks like a "gansta rapper," guys.
About Ted: I think you handled the situation nicely. I'm not really mad at the wife as it is the husband who made this mess. But I do think the husband has a great elation ship with the Ted, so that's a plus.... BUT I ant help but think, would all of the people ( wife and counsellors) in the crowd be acting this way if he was white/ non black? The way they told him to imitate "Nuna" was in a very stereotypical voice . Even the way the wife describes him was bias. Really " black man with reggae hair sticking up?" His hair doesn't look messy, it's well kept.
I don't see the racism in the first concern? The lady said that it wasn't that she didn't like Ted; it was that her husband was making decisions without discussing it with her. As for the excessive reactions by the audience and hosts, isn't it because reaction culture is huge in Korean entertainment? The husband in the second concern...just...just...*sigh*
The first concern was a bit iffy for me at first, but as the situation went on I looked at it from both sides to get a better understanding of it. Ted yes is a foreigner & African American man, however I didn't get the feeling it was race related from the wife's perspective. I think it more had to do with the fact she felt very betrayed by the husband because he was doing a lot of random things behind her back that didn't really start with Ted, but because he brought him to their home to live for 3 months I can sympathize with her that...yeah it was quite rude of him to do that without even discussing with his wife about moving him in for a while because they needed extra funds etc. Ted seemed really super nervous & awkward and I truly felt sorry for him mainly because he had got sucked into a problem that never really started with him, the problems were between the wife & husband because he was always doing things behind her back so she was constantly feeling betrayed. Now with Ted I think the only downfall to the situation was he could not properly speak to the wife himself in Korean because he did not know to speak it much, but I personally feel if Ted knew how to communicate with the wife in Korean about the reason he was there and how long, then she probably wouldn't felt so insecure and would've been a little more comfortable being in her home with him, but because Ted knew next to no Korean I think was the main issue for her, but as I said the overall concern she had was her husband not being honest about things he was doing and always surprising her all the time, that was the main issue she didn't like. So Ted was not the real issue, just a casualty of a much bigger problem. The fact that their sons clearly liked Ted however I think brought a more sense of comfort for the mother, where she doesn't need to see him as some sort of a threat to her kids. I wish that family the best, and I hope Ted starts learning Korean soon as that is very important being a resident of the country plus it will bring him closer to the family. He seems like too good of a guy to be caught up in things beyond his control.
The second concern was genuinely sad. The two of them have obviously lost all trust and respect for each other. You could just see the sad ruins of what was once a loving relationship. =-(
I think most of you are overthinking the issue regarding Ted. Bring it back to your current situation - if a family member brought a stranger home without informing anyone, regardless of race, would you be comfortable? Things are only made more uncomfortable for the 1st concern's lady because their cultures and native language are different. It really has nothing to do with race or racism, but more of how the husband needs to discuss things with the family before going through with it. She's already mentioned she likes Ted at the end. By making everything seem like color plays a part, isn't that even more racist?
(This is my personal feeling) I don't think it's a color problem like "He is black, he is the problem" It's a little more subtle, like I didn't like the part when they asked him to say Nuna weirdly when they already heard that he doesn't have this kind of voice. I didn't like that they have to emphasize his hair, it really makes me uncomfortable. I really felt bad when he said "I'm not going to hurt the children", it means that he thought himself that people around him saw him like a danger, which is really sad because I'm sure that Koreans didn't meant it (at least after he had spoken). Even YoungJa were worried about him thinking he is the problem (I love her more and more) when they said that the family was okay, why not her, she said "first he is a foreigner and a man so it's uncomfortable " I don't know... I feel bad. maybe that I'm overreacting for this one. but to me it means that because that I'm a foreigner you wouldn't put your confidence in me as fast as if I was Korean. Honestly, it hurts 😅 voilà, that was my review, I hope I've answered some of your questions ^.^
happiness yeah, they stereotyped his voice and the lady kept mentioning that he was black and had reggae hair like those were her main problems about him and that was why it was so serious. it just rubbed me the wrong way
titemartiniquaise this is exactly it. It’s not so black and white that it just comes down to race but that has a lot to do with it. Just based on the audience and mc behaviour and the wives words. The fact that he’s black makes them uncomfortable
Alright, unpopular opinion here but I can understand why the first wife would be uncomfortable with Ted living with them. The biggest issue is that her husband didn't discuss his plans with her. The perceptions Koreans have about black people are unfortunate but that's the way it is. You can't really expect much acceptance of them when their exposure is severely limited. Issues like this aren't native to South Korea, you're going to find them everywhere you go. Obviously I don't think that her fear of him as a foreigner is justified but unfortunately, she feels that way and had he talked with her about it prior to bringing Ted home, he would have known that. Your husband bringing a random man home to live with your family for an extended period of time would make most women feel uncomfortable. She doesn't know anything about him. Ted seems like a really nice guy and he was a good sport about all of this, hopefully this experience won't cause anyone to look at him in a negative way.
+Diamond It's really not about racism in this case. No wife would want her husband to bring anyone home to stay them without consultation. The fact that he is a foreigner makes things worse mainly bc communication is severely limited.
NoName NoFame I don't necessarily think it is either but it's pretty clear from reading some of the other comments that that's what people are feeling.
yeah..i agree. the issues is not about race. im also getting uncomfortable if my housmate sometime bring other people living is our house even though they are in same race as Im.
yep, someone stranger come into house immediately, not some foreigner :-) you know, every outsider who suddenly live in our house, sure it's kind of tough for adapt(how much it is, it's depends). For example, parent in-law maybe? :-D But if you communicate with them well before, it'll become much easier right? :-)
omfg whats wrong with u all ? on the first concern when they were gonna wrap up Chan Wu alr said to the wife to say some words to ted or he will think everything is his fault. the wife even showed him the heart sign. and here u all are calling them racist? wtf?
I think the director academy is charming🙈 "The great teachers prepare students for lives." Yes, he's not suitable for bussinesman but a person like him really needed in this world to make a youngster to be better in life.
Seems a lot of commenters have no idea why the wife brought the husband on the show. Some are talking about "her fear of" Ted and other oddball things which were not part of the show.
I found it upsetting too but honestly I think they're just awkward and shy because they're unfamiliar with foreign people. And in the end the wife and kids all said they actually love Ted and it was the husband who was the problem so that's good. Good luck to Ted and hope he continues to enjoy Korea!
Kanon Cardinal It *is* somewhat rude, but I think in Korea it is considered a friendly banter, an ice breaker. Of course it's also potentially dangerous as you can see there are many concerns in Hello Counselor where there are people who cares too much of what others think, they felt hurt by those kind of banter.
demalih the way they spoke about his hair wasn't friendly bantering. They were talking about it as if only criminals have reggae hair. It was something they thought he needed to be judged for.
"great teacher prepares student for their life". okay, but if the teacher only chooses the best and easy student, what's the function of education then?
for the concern with Ted, you do have to wonder if she would react the same if it was a white stranger that the husband had brought home, i don't know why but i felt that after 2/3 months she would get used to it (everyone at home is okay except her) but because he's black, she can't get over it, really the concern should have just stated her husband brought a random stranger home but it was the fact that it was worded to paint a stereotype in the minds of listeners, "black, stranger, dreadlocks etc)...i felt so bad for ted having to explain that he wouldn't hurt the kids, so unnecessary
I thought the same too! If he were white she'd probably be on her hands and knees to keep him comfortable. But at least her boys were cool about it, hope for the next generation of more open minded Koreans.
Guys..you really shouldn't just assume the worst ~_~ The Koreans on this show don't usually like foreigners of any race. Stop making this about his race ffs. Anyone would dislike a stranger coming into their home uninvited. Besides she said that she loves having him at the end .-.
+Ohnoyoucannotcolourmybook(Ծ^Ծ) They just have never experiencing the case when they'll thank God that the stranger vanished with money instead of their kids. I actually surprised that she still not leaving home with her kids. Occupation actually plays more important role than race. In this case, he's a teacher so she don't go as far as bringing their kids and stay at her parent's house. Black-Teacher vs White-Unemployed. I personally think that the mother would leave home if the stranger is white-unemployed more than black-teacher.
For the 2nd concern, i really understood how that husband felt. He did things right, yet people kept suspecting him for things that he didn't. If you were to put yourself in his shoes you would also find that you would end up doing the things that he did. The wife's tone is so damn annoying and she does it all the time, no wonder he kept leaving. But to be honest, if you were to lay everything wrong they both did, it was equal.
I can't understand why everyone keep calling the wife a racist in the first concern of course I know racism is common in korea but living with an stranger in your house is annoying, regardless of their race, religion, etc... my cousin lived in our house for 3 years without cooking, cleaning or paying anything and although she wasn't an stranger, it was irritating as hell!
I can understand the wife on the first concern my dad always brought his brothers or his family to live with us and it was annoying , i'm glad kept respectful .
idk if anyone noticed Jeong Seongho accidentally hit Kyungri's hand at the 1:04:02 mark. And then she spent the rest of the show slowly moving away from him and keeping her hand close to herself. I mean it was an accident but it wasn't acknowledged at all. I feel bad for her cuz it looked like it really hurt. :(
OMG so many people in the comments are bringing in racism and saying how evil and mean the wife is in the first concern..... I watched the whole thing and I didn't feel that at all?? She's such a nice and good person?? I wouldn't have let Ted stay for this long TBH.. A few weeks maybe but did you hear the husband? He's staying for a year.... Why would I want a complete stranger living in my house and he's a foreigner they can't communicate. Ted is a good person ofc, but It doesn't seem like Ted understands how uncomfortable the wife would feel. Like If I were Ted I would feel so bad and uncomfortable living with a family ?? I could completely understand the wife's feelings and plus her husband made things 100x worse... She's a really good wife for letting him stay TBH it has nothing to do with race.....
I agree that this isn't necessarily racist behaviour. And that the concern was mainly about how the husband chose to handle situations. But I totally understand why people are bringing "racism" up. And it's because they way the reacted to him was not so friendly and polite. The hosts were being a bit mean especially about his differences. You're just as bad as actual racists for denying being able to see where these people are coming from, who are complaining about racism, even if it isn't racism.
Well I can see the academy director is thoughtful about his student but for some of those kids who had been misinterpreted and suddenly being kicked out, they must be upset too.
Seongho was hilarious this episode!! I hope he comes on the show often!! 😂😂😂😄😄😄 Hyeonmin is such a cutie!!! 😍😍😍😍 Ted too! ^.^ 😀😀 In the second concern, I felt both were in the wrong. There needs to be TRUST in a relationship!!
How is Ted's hair 'reggae'? I don't see dreadlocks (which even some white people have e.g. Newton Faulkner) but just long cornrows. He seems like a genuinely good man, but like I do when I see anyone considered dark and/or a foreigner on these shows, I can't help but feel pity for them. At least it isn't permanent stay over there unlike Sum and his family on My Neighbour Charles ...
Poor ted those ppl brought him to the show without telling him the reason! Im sure if he new he was the reason he would have moved out of their apartment!! Shame on "hello counselor" disappointed!!!
KyungRi and Erine are finally on here 👏 but I hate how in the first concern the lady said since he's darker skinned and that he's a foreigner it was uncomfortable for her and he's annoying to her. I get it's weird to have a new person in your house but she doesn't have to be rude by telling him he's like that. He doesn't seem that bad and I irritates me that she thinks that of a foreigner.
She didn't say she was uncomfortable cuz he was black or annoying .. She said its cuz he's a foreigner & a man . Imagine living with a random foreigner that you can't even communicate with for 3 months out of the blue one day . That would be really uncomfortable and annoying .
+CLOWNS0 Mae *sigh* argument where? the person just before you answered politely and corrected the first comment smoothly. I hope that from now on you will do the same
Ted like bro you in hot water!!😂😂 I understand the wife even though she doesn't dislike Ted it's was still disrespectful of the husband to bring in a stranger. I bet Ted thought his wife knew he was coming....that's pretty awkward.
As a teacher I really don't like the owner of the institute. He thinks himself a good teacher but he is a worst teacher ever. He just wants to teach students who obey his order. A real good teacher never select students and never gives up students.
I totally watched this for Oh Hyumin tbh. And as for the last concern I think the director is totally right. I understand his thoughts and even it can appear harsh this really help the students sometimes.
I haven't watched the first concern yet but after reading a few comment I..idk some people don't really seem shocked that the husband brought a stranger to live with his family. Maybe it's just me since I grew up with overly protective parents but seriously if it was me I would definetely feel umconfortable even if he is a good guy because he's a stranger
Edit (youtube pls lol) : Ted seems a really nice guy, he's bright and cool but I would still feel the same. I mean...living with a stranger...is a bit too much?
For the student who dont bring pencil in their hand at class, maybe they just dont have it anymore. Like me. My friends always borrowed mine and never gave it back. At first I really love to had a pencil case but then I just bought a piece of pencil/pen and safe it on my bag. One day, me and my teamworks had to face a teacher for consultation of our task. And I didnt find my pencil at my bag. So I just sat there and listening and asking a question but never wrote it down. And finally my teacher notice what happen with me and got angry. "Why dont you write?" So I couldnt lie, "I dont have a pen" (actually I was too hectic with the task and didnt prepare or check in my bag). And then she said, "so you will remember all of this? How smart" I was so embarrassed and then ask my friend if they have another pen/pencil and borrow it (i know they were like me.. Idk why I am telling this after I heard the prolog of the 3rd case.
It's really surprising how people r still so narrow minded in the world we live in now. The crowd gasped at the fact that it wasn't just a foreigner but a BLACK foreigner and that was basically bad news to them. I understand that it must have been surprising when he came with someone saying he is living with them but it would have been a whole different story if it was a white man or any other race than black. There was really no need for her to describe Ted as a man with reggae hair sticking up as if she was implying that he didn't look well kept. No one in the family had a problem with him except for her so they could try and fix the husbands problem but they could maybe and try and fix her problem if that's possible.
I REALLY REALLY FELT FOR TED!!! :-( .... he doesnt know the language and is in a foreign country...gosh :-( and to have the host family, the wife not like him at all.... really is...wow. such a difficult situation
I feel bad for Ted, he seems like a nice guy. The wife to me seems closed minded about foreigners that she can't even get to know Ted as a person. She should give him a chance before ostracizing him. Even though I can understand why at first she felt that way, but it's been 3 months. She is making it difficult for her own self, but putting the blame on Ted.
But besides the Ted part in the concern, I understand the wife's frustration with the husband. Relationships involve more than one person, so it cannot be just one person's job to make the decisions.
WAIT IS THIS THE OH HYUNMIN I KNOW IS THIS THE GENIUS OH HYUNMIN THE KAIST STUDENT HOLY SHIT OMG I'M SCREAMING PPL THINK I'M CRAZY BUT I DONT CARE BECAUSE I LOVE HIM SO MUCH UHGPURIENJVL EOINRWHG2BLIQERJFC;NQRVGBWI WKEIJBG HP9V
about the last concern...I like the director's philosophy. However, I think interrupting a class is too much, it's disrespectful for the teacher who's trying to do his/her job and it distract the students
I feel like the wife and Ted were put in uncomfortable situations. Of course you should tell your spouse the details before bringing someone into your house and for Ted, he never asked for this, he does not want to make anybody feel bad. He seems like a nice guy and I wish the husband would have communicated with his wife better.
When I read the comments about Ted and racism, I feel like nobody is trying to understand the other. Kind of sad. First, I want to say something, you can be a very nice person and having some racist issues. My friend do it sometimes and I tell them right away so they can change. Myself sometimes, I think wrong. Maybe you would say "oh she didn't mean it" or "she didn't know". It's nice of you, but trying to ignore that I just said something racist won't help me to change. And to others, who don't know me Ok, so now let's face it and say it comfortably, so we can change it from now on. THERE WERE RACISM HERE! Asking him to say "Nuna" this way was rude. Pointing the fact that his hair are different to make the problem of the husband bigger is...very awkward. And it's not a big deal, nobody is sent to prison here, since it's a trait that we can all CORRECT.
For the 3rd concern, I agree with the director. I'm currently doing teaching practicum in high school. It is tough disciplining the students. Teenagers should not be treated as baby.
and educators shouldent be tyrants as well idiot watch his body language you see he is a disgrace as educator no one would want such a moron as a teacher besides who the fuck is he to judge a students dream? he has absolutely NO right to do so that is not only humiliation but judgmental critisism
The last concern was very interesting to me because I grew in a strict education environment. But I got my teaching degree in a western country. I've seen both side of teaching approaches. We always can't determine which is the 'right' way. But I can say that Asians can be too harsh but western kids are often too coddled.
I don't think this concern has anything to do with his skin color tbh. Everyone's overreacting a bit, just because a black person is involved. It's the fact that the husband didn't tell his wife ahead of time, and having someone stay with you for 3 months, EVEN if it were a friend, can be very burdensome. They have 2 children, and I highly doubt their place is really big enough.
uh, qué bueno el programa Oo super interesantes los casos, me llegó harto el de los profesores y su director. ojalá sigan llevando a las 9muses a más programas como estos ^^
Personally, I don't agree with the academy's director's way of dealing with things and I don't exactly see the "affection" of his. IMO, he's too quick to judge the students and wouldn't it be more meaningful if he & the teachers could change the "supposedly delinquents students" around in a positive way? That's changing their lives and inspiring/ preparing them to be better people, one of the most important goal in education. Being selective is fine to a certain extent, but I think he's overdoing it :/
That's being over-optimistic. U must understand that a person's character is build up over the years and does not change suddenly because of one person. I think the director is right to accept those that he thought can be improved than to accept all. Students do influence each other, and bad influence spread quickly.
To be honest, I'm glad that husband in the first concern invited Ted to live with them! I mean sure, it was an abrupt decision and he really should have discussed that with his wife, but that was the most open-minded thing an individual could do< ^-^ )>
Gosh the first concern .... i have nothing to say than feel sorry for ted ... i am happy my country is mixed white & black & red & yellow no one cares because we were all made of the same soil / same way / .... koreans or asians parents must teach their children to love everyone and not judge a person by appearence .. that my opinion and i hope i didnt offende anyone .
now after watching the genius i keep coming back to the previous epsidoes of hello concelor oh how didn't i know im yo hwan how didn't know oh hyi=un min before kkkk
Based on the comments about Ted, I can see you guys are more concerned in policing those who are uncomfortable watching that part and feeling it was discriminating/racist rather than actually trying to understand why they feel uncomfortable. Everyone knows and acknowledges anyone could be cautious of a stranger but they are literally saying keywords that have been used to describe Ted along with tone and body language made them feel he was targeted unfairly when he meant no harm at all. Just because she says she cares for him or likes him at the end does not mean she is not racist or have very discriminating/racist views. That's called silent racism since being a bold racist is not socially "acceptable" in most modern instances. No one would bring up race if it wasn't actually a known fucking problem in the world where we are judged unfairly because of our race. Just because it doesn't happen to you or you don't feel uncomfortable with the issues, or you don't like talking about factual racial issues doesn't give you the right to dismiss neither devalue those who do feel this is about race. That is very rude of y'all.
visarut mu yes it is I watch it every week no matter who the guest are and yes kyungri is beautiful she is my ultimate bias in 9muses she is the one who got me into the group
I felt bad for Ted because of the way they said "hi nuna" /: I get the stranger part with the woman but I don't understand why they said the hi nuna with such a weird voice because he didn't sound like that at all and I guess they're trying to be funny but it's still weird for me
the third guy has the right mentality, he's not money hungry. that's the problem academies that focus on profit and don't care about the students. he's a bit harsh but he's coming from the right place. not saying he's a good director, but he definitely can become a good, maybe even the best director. he should try to embrace the bad students and try to teach them like it was mentioned by dongyeop. he should give them 3 chance to get their shit together before kicking them out
the hosts didn't even know hyunmin and his name is listed last in the title, but I actually watched this because of him and didn't know any of the other guests
The second case that guy doesn’t love her he was such an asshole when he said that his wife’s thighs were fat and that how he wouldn’t mind being hit by the muses like wtf I would’ve file for a divorce
And more concerns about unbelievably immature husbands. It's becoming a trend really, all those wives say the same thing: he wasn't like that when we dated. Being half Asian it doesn't come as any shock to me. When some Asians date, they never really take the time to really get to know each other (from what I've seen from cousins and friends) they just do cutesy couple stuff that really has no substance and when they end up getting married (sometimes due to pressure from family) everything changes. And the girls end up mothering their imnature husbands and wonder where they went wrong.
Everyone commenting about the mom being mean to Ted and feeling bad for Ted, please make sure you understand that Korea is not diverse. Foreigners are about 3% of the population, of course they will stand out. You can't move to such a country and not expect to stand out. They weren't trying to be mean or discriminate. They dont see black people all the often, let alone with dreads. Its just a different culture and you also need to understand their point of view
Actually the director is quite right...for the student's career they should be strict....academy is not a place to hangout with friends or having chilling attitude.........the instructor just wants to run the academy with more students i.e. With more money.....But director genuinely wants to help the students for their future career....Thats y he is so strict...
an other amazing episode . 1 concern: i wish i had a foreigner like that in ou house , he seems like he has an amazing personality. 2 concern: i doubt his personality would change . 3 concern: when they said the student came out crying , i thought they were very young , OMG!!! i would be ashamed if i came out crying like that in their age lol ( i'm 25 years old but i look younger than them), well but in the end i have an ego fits for an elephant ...Bwahahahahaaaaa!!!!!
Aw 9muses! I felt like the blonde girl randomly did the Jessi part to kind of cover her friend for answering when its not her time yet 😅 That's nice of her. Hnstly i wouldn't mind if someone wants to stayover at my house but for the husband to not discuss it first is like he's not respecting his wife at all. I pity Ted more like he probably thinks that the wife is perfectly fine with it but shes not. And communication wise is hard for him too. "im not going to do anything to hurt them" aw Ted, i doubt that's what she meant.
Poor Ted. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it was for him specially when the interpreter said she is here because of YOU and there’s a clear language barrier and they are discussing him. I had a flash back of kids taunting me in middle school when I spoke zero English.
It's great to see Ted and the kids bond even though they can't speak each others language!
Omg I'm not a 9muses fan but seriously the girl with the blond hair her imitation of jessie was on point!
her name is erine she is the rapper in the group
True I died from laughter. This is competition!! Lol
Sean Vera I think I'm going to check her out soon😊
Miss. K lol erine is a really dorky and cute girl
I like Ted, he's really nice😁
The learning atmosphere is important.
felt really bad for ted. I couldnt watch it any longer. just skipped their part.
You should have finished at the end the wife said that she really loves Ted and she think he is a great guy and he really loves her sons, the only thing she needs is her husband to change.
+Lil Storm oh okay. gotta watch it. Thank you
+CLOWNS0 Mae Yeah, the husband is so annoying.
I felt bad for him when he said 'I didn't come here to hurt anyone, I just came for the culture.'
It felt so awkward watching the woman complain, but her kids & husband were really cool about it.
+Adelaide Ziki same here
+Adelaide Ziki they're reacting normally as anyone would react to a strange foreigner suddenly staying at your house
demalih I know that's anyone would be freaked out having a random stranger staying at their house especially without getting told.
Koreans are racist.out of them. they judge ppl based on our preferences and our outer. it's irritated me so much!
The wife from the first concern had a right to be upset. Her husband makes decisions without consulting her. She could have done without talking about his dreads negatively, but that's not such a big deal.
I was really disappointed with the hosts. Not every black person speaks like a "gansta rapper," guys.
the 2nd concern is really interesting😂😂😂👏👏 the tables kept on turning lmao
Right? hahahah 😂
yess 😂😂
About Ted:
I think you handled the situation nicely.
+Nami namii Yeah the reactions to the description of him was kind of hurtful. I'm sure it made him uncomfortable when they reacted that way
CallmeKat! agree...the way they told him to say nona made me uncomfortable.
IKR. The husband is quite rude to bring the stranger into their home without even discuss with them.
(This is my personal feeling)
I don't think it's a color problem like "He is black, he is the problem"
It's a little more subtle, like I didn't like the part when they asked him to say Nuna weirdly when they already heard that he doesn't have this kind of voice.
Even YoungJa were worried about him thinking he is the problem (I love her more and more)
when they said that the family was okay, why not her, she said "first he is a foreigner and a man so it's uncomfortable " I don't know... I feel bad. maybe that I'm overreacting for this one. but to me it means that because that I'm a foreigner you wouldn't put your confidence in me as fast as if I was Korean. Honestly, it hurts 😅
voilà, that was my review, I hope I've answered some of your questions ^.^
+titemartiniquaise Preach
zamganghang *bows politely* Thank you ^.^
happiness yeah, they stereotyped his voice and the lady kept mentioning that he was black and had reggae hair like those were her main problems about him and that was why it was so serious. it just rubbed me the wrong way
titemartiniquaise this is exactly it.
same
omfg whats wrong with u all ? on the first concern when they were gonna wrap up Chan Wu alr said to the wife to say some words to ted or he will think everything is his fault. the wife even showed him the heart sign. and here u all are calling them racist? wtf?
You got me watching hello counselor again with hyunmin ❤️
I think the director academy is charming🙈
"The great teachers prepare students for lives."
Yes, he's not suitable for bussinesman but a person like him really needed in this world to make a youngster to be better in life.
yea and they dont destroy them like his sorry ass of educators brain does
omg so happy to see 9muses on a show!
same here I love these girls
I really liked the Director. He's on the right track :)
Seems a lot of commenters have no idea why the wife brought the husband on the show. Some are talking about "her fear of" Ted and other oddball things which were not part of the show.
Why do they treat foreigners like that🙂it was a bit upsetting honestly
+Sara Mahboob how is it upsetting?
I found it upsetting too but honestly I think they're just awkward and shy because they're unfamiliar with foreign people. And in the end the wife and kids all said they actually love Ted and it was the husband who was the problem so that's good. Good luck to Ted and hope he continues to enjoy Korea!
It's kind of an awkward situation, though. The only part I found rude was when they made fun of his accent and hair...
Ted has a really nice speaking voice
I felt so bad for Ted he really looks like a good guy she should treat him better.
This is the earliest i've watched this
i don't know anyone on the show but i like that cuz it helps me find out about new ppl
I feel so bad for Ted. Man I really wish I could give him a big hug...
"great teacher prepares student for their life". okay, but if the teacher only chooses the best and easy student, what's the function of education then?
I watched this because of Oh Hyunmin!! ♥ Thank you for having him here! :)
for the concern with Ted, you do have to wonder if she would react the same if it was a white stranger that the husband had brought home, i don't know why but i felt that after 2/3 months she would get used to it (everyone at home is okay except her) but because he's black, she can't get over it, really the concern should have just stated her husband brought a random stranger home but it was the fact that it was worded to paint a stereotype in the minds of listeners, "black, stranger, dreadlocks etc)...i felt so bad for ted having to explain that he wouldn't hurt the kids, so unnecessary
+Ohnoyoucannotcolourmybook(Ծ^Ծ) You have a long way to go about learning about silent racism.
SnakeSagacity Why would a white unemployed person living in korea?
2nd concern: all that's going through my head right now is: "THIS GUY IS SO ANNOYING"... T_T I really don't know what else to say.
my lord....the immaturity *facepalm*
The way he behave really like a child, no, worse than that.
konnichiwa exactly
For the 2nd concern, i really understood how that husband felt. He did things right, yet people kept suspecting him for things that he didn't. If you were to put yourself in his shoes you would also find that you would end up doing the things that he did. The wife's tone is so damn annoying and she does it all the time, no wonder he kept leaving. But to be honest, if you were to lay everything wrong they both did, it was equal.
I can't understand why everyone keep calling the wife a racist in the first concern
of course I know racism is common in korea but living with an stranger in your house is annoying, regardless of their race, religion, etc...
my cousin lived in our house for 3 years without cooking, cleaning or paying anything and although she wasn't an stranger, it was irritating as hell!
the emulation of Jessi was on point!
+Amilia Chow IKR? I was like: 'eh?!'
Choked on my sandwich when Erine did her Jessie impression out of nowhere. I'm so happy to see both of my biases from 9muses in one show!!
+Ashley Kwon Finally someone with common sense! People throw the race-card for everything nowadays.
Well I can see the academy director is thoughtful about his student but for some of those kids who had been misinterpreted and suddenly being kicked out, they must be upset too.
thought full huh by being a critic on students dream? who the fuck gave him such godlike authority
Seongho was hilarious this episode!! I hope he comes on the show often!! 😂😂😂😄😄😄
Hyeonmin is such a cutie!!! 😍😍😍😍 Ted too! ^.^ 😀😀
In the second concern, I felt both were in the wrong. There needs to be TRUST in a relationship!!
Team ted here! Its so touching when the kid talk that they're love Ted.
Erinniiieeieiei & Gangiiieieieie
The way the hosts imitated Ted was very offending. Poor guy just sat there without understanding anything.
I understand his thoughts and even it can appear harsh this really help the students sometimes.
yes..totally agree with you
I haven't watched the first concern yet but after reading a few comment I..idk some people don't really seem shocked that the husband brought a stranger to live with his family.
I am glad to see kyungri and erine at hello counselor
i came here for oh hyunmin
For the student who dont bring pencil in their hand at class, maybe they just dont have it anymore. Like me. My friends always borrowed mine and never gave it back. At first I really love to had a pencil case but then I just bought a piece of pencil/pen and safe it on my bag. One day, me and my teamworks had to face a teacher for consultation of our task. And I didnt find my pencil at my bag. So I just sat there and listening and asking a question but never wrote it down. And finally my teacher notice what happen with me and got angry. "Why dont you write?"
So I couldnt lie, "I dont have a pen" (actually I was too hectic with the task and didnt prepare or check in my bag). And then she said, "so you will remember all of this? How smart"
I was so embarrassed and then ask my friend if they have another pen/pencil and borrow it (i know they were like me..
+hairmon hailu nope, I would be wary of any strangers, but especially strange foreigners of any race that's coming to my house
Relationships involve more than one person, so it cannot be just one person's job to make the decisions.
i know it’s 2 years late but did watch the segment? till the end?
I love Ted, he's cute and nice
WAIT IS THIS THE OH HYUNMIN I KNOW IS THIS THE GENIUS OH HYUNMIN THE KAIST STUDENT HOLY SHIT OMG I'M SCREAMING PPL THINK I'M CRAZY BUT I DONT CARE BECAUSE I LOVE HIM SO MUCH UHGPURIENJVL EOINRWHG2BLIQERJFC;NQRVGBWI WKEIJBG HP9V
Me too! I love him since The Genius! He's just so adorable and cute! ^^
I WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS EP OMG
I'm glad i wasn't the only one XD
HYEONMIN AGSVDVSG>
+Natasha Prameswari do you know which season it was?
about the last concern...I like the director's philosophy. However, I think interrupting a class is too much, it's disrespectful for the teacher who's trying to do his/her job and it distract the students
hes a good teacher
I lol at the Jessie imitation😆
And to others, who don't know me
Ok, so now let's face it and say it comfortably, so we can change it from now on.
I feel bad for Ted :(
For the 3rd concern, I agree with the director.
They have 2 children, and I highly doubt their place is really big enough.
erine always doing the Jessie impersonation lmao I'm gonna miss her :(((
uh, qué bueno el programa Oo super interesantes los casos, me llegó harto el de los profesores y su director. ojalá sigan llevando a las 9muses a más programas como estos ^^
Ted seems so chill
That is very rude of y'all.
i'm here for gyeongri sshiiii
I am here for the show but also cause 9muses is there as guest
+Sean Vera this show is good and gyeongri is so beautifulllll.
visarut mu yes it is I watch it every week no matter who the guest are and yes kyungri is beautiful she is my ultimate bias in 9muses she is the one who got me into the group
I felt bad for Ted because of the way they said "hi nuna" /: I get the stranger part with the woman but I don't understand why they said the hi nuna with such a weird voice because he didn't sound like that at all and I guess they're trying to be funny but it's still weird for me
the third guy has the right mentality, he's not money hungry. that's the problem academies that focus on profit and don't care about the students. he's a bit harsh but he's coming from the right place. not saying he's a good director, but he definitely can become a good, maybe even the best director. he should try to embrace the bad students and try to teach them like it was mentioned by dongyeop. he should give them 3 chance to get their shit together before kicking them out
KYUNGRI & ERINE 💓💓
If I were Ted, I'd move out. I know he's not at fault, but I wouldn't be comfortable knowing I was invited to stay without the wife's consent.
ERINE HI THERE YOUR SMILE IS LIFE
It’s not reggae hair it’s just really curly and reggae is a genre of music
the hosts didn't even know hyunmin and his name is listed last in the title, but I actually watched this because of him and didn't know any of the other guests
I CLICKED BECAUSe I THOUGHT OH HYUNMIN WAS LEE HYUNWOO LMAO BUT THE RESEMBLANCE
Who does this guy in the last concern think he is that he gets to judge whether someone is hopeless or not... how fucked up...
The second case that guy doesn’t love her he was such an asshole when he said that his wife’s thighs were fat and that how he wouldn’t mind being hit by the muses like wtf I would’ve file for a divorce
i'd be mad as hell if my husband suddenly bright a stranger home - like how creepy is that
kyungri is so beautiful!
I know right!!!!!
erin is too
but kyungri is like gorgeous!!!!!!!
The director is charming
I'm really impressed about these people, some of them were just too much... And Hyunmin, cute little buttercup
How on earth did that lady get together with such an utterly childish guy!
I literally jumped up when i saw the score ahaha!¬!
Finally i waited *_*
an other amazing episode .
TED IS ADORABLE!!!! xD
HYEONMIN>< just proud of him^^
