1:30 I've done it whenever you get to use the Drake Tank in Destiny 2, it has some incredible gun depression. It's whole design seems to be for taking advantage of hull down positions.
I don't know if you can communicate with the developers of GHPC, but they have lowered the resolution of the M60A3TTS in error, speaking as a tank commander (M60A3TTS, M1IP, M1A1, M1A1AIMS) and Bradley Commander (M2A2 & M2A2ODS). The M60A3TTS had a far better thermal sight than the original M1 or M1IP. It wasn't until the M1A1 that the thermal sight was on par or better than the M60A3TTS. This was due to the fact that the upgrades to the M60A3TTS occurred well after the initial fielding of the M1 & M1IP. The lines of resolution for the Thermal sight on the M60A3TTS was 360 and on the M1 & M1IP was only 180. Once the M1A1 was fielded the lines of resolution jumped to 480.
A lot of your missed shots were from not giving the M60A3 lead system enough time to average out your tracking rates. If you get your reticle centered on the target and following it smoothly for at least 1.5 seconds, the results should be better and also not require re-lasing a bunch of times.
Yep, I was aware of that after. My initial goal was to make do with my position and not be over exposed for too long, which kinda trades off the timing a little.
Another good tactic in GHPC if you are NATO is to try and find high ground where you can see out and therefor engage at very long range 2500+. Your optics and targeting systems are much better than Warsaw and you can reliably just snipe them down while they can't effectively hit back, this works extremally well with T55s and BMP1s.
I played Steel Beasts Legacy back in the early 2000's so I already knew about hull-down positioning. The Steel Beasts manual explained it in pretty good detail. I try and use what I learned in Steel Beasts. I even tried to use that in World of Tanks but it didn't work well in that game because it's garbage. At the end of the day though the game has to give you some positions to go hull-down in. If they aren't available that's just the way it is. You have no choice but to slug it out in the open.
I try to use proper tactics in my games. The problem in campaign instead of quick missions is that the terrain map is not detailed enough imho. I believe militaries have access to geomorphic maps which would be much better to plan the advance.
Since the East German T-72s have terrible armor (looking forward to Soviet T-72Bs or T-80Us) and the enemy typically has thermals I hide in little towns and villages and cover small fields of fire only exposing a small portion of the turret and hull. I got tracked and immobilized but Mission Killed 3 M1IPs. Fair trade.
I've watched several others play this game and thought it was such a turkey shoot for the enemy on some of the most advance tanks in the world (ie. A1Abrams). This "turkey shoot" aspect gave the impression it wasn't realistic. I realize now, in those videos, the player was running and gunning like a first-person shooter. This video revitalized my interest in this game so hats off to you demonstrating some form of tactics and how this demonstrates better outcomes.
I'm glad it brought interest! More is coming, and I'll be covering more tank tactics. GHPC is still in early access development, so not all things are finalized. The AI will need some work. In this video, I purposely halted my platoon because If I were to apply the berm drills, they would glitch and turn their backs on the enemy. Although, I do wish they would allow that option to hull down and berm as a platoon. Also, the M1s you see in the game is either the first-generation M1s or the M1IP with 105 guns. 🙂
Honestly this mission would be cool in MP. T-72 are def capable of dealing with the M60s (always have been), but because of their hull down position + no thermals is kinda hard to engage One thing you should have done here if either in MP or if the AI was better at this point (it was shooting not even at you at some points), is retreat, but not go fowards, but isntead go side ways so you pop in other place, if you don't do that an tank can just wait for you to appear again and engage you easly, remember that T-72s at least have laser range finder so that is not the problem, the problem is spotting.
Even without the AI being that advanced yet, the sheer amount of T-72s is already deadly. It's not a very easy mission but a good challenge. 😂 I have thought about menuvering around, but at the speed of where they're coming was too fast, otherwise, they would've flanked me / losing track of them, so I made the decision to hull and basic berm. But, I'll be covering a bit more tactics like jockeying and menuvering in a future video once GHPC gets an update soon!
@@PhanPhantasy oh its true that theres too many and you need to be smart, all I was saying is that if you do what I said, specially burn that into you mind, aka train, you will be better ready for improvments of the AI and potential PVP, good job tho I play PR and sometimes I forget to do that, honestly the last time I did a berm was more that the enemy fired a ATGM at me and I saw it comming. (my gunner wasn't the best that round)
Took three tries at this mission, last try I basically won. I ended the match with two m60a3s, one immobilized. But there must have been one or more enemy vehicles left. I ended up driving up and down the field checking for any leftover enemies and couldn't find them. Finally just ended the mission.
You are probably the first UA-camr/computer gamer I have heard actually use the correct therm "berm drills". Most guys just say 'pop up tactics' or whatever.
Burm drills in games like squad or war thunder seem to blow peoples minds cause everyone uses the tanks like you just sit there and trade shots instead of maneuvering with your vehicle. You end up either never being seen or at least having a really low chance of being hit.
Start stop and shoot is sadly not really usable currently since theres a bug that makes the stabilization barely usable. Everytime you stop your gun alignment will get messed up. That means if you shoot shortly after stopping, your shot will miss by a mile. To circumvent this you need to wait till your suspension comes to a stop. Since this takes some time, stop and shoot is currently not really practiable. If you want to confirm this, take the T72, drive forward, stop and lase a couple of times in a quick succession. You will notice that the range finder will give back completely different ranges, until you come to a complete halt.
Not a bug old stabilizers on the M60A3 TTS, T-72 causes FCS to have mild stroke unless you give it time to reset upon coming to stop just stop wait 1.5 seconds lase and fire
It's frustrating trying to do this with PACT tanks when they only have -5° of gun depression and most of them have a 5kph reverse speed. Any suggestions?
Insert the "That's the neat part, you don't." gif They're not designed like NATO tanks where they can move quickly to the next position. Your best bet is to find a hull down position and use the low profile of the T-tanks.
Hello, i downloaded latest updates of GHPc on my laptop but it is still lagging, can you tell me please if this game still has high hardware demand or is it already upgraded for weaker hardware computers? Thanks I can play war thunder with good graphics but GHpc not
Optimization is something that they will always work on since it's still in early access and in development. I wouldn't worry about it at this point. Also, it's more CPU heavy than GPU.
Smoke, where is the smoke. Before 1982, you have a ROAD tank company or mechanized infantry company where the platoons are cross-attached. W/o thermal, you need to be careful and use hull down positions extensively. After 1978, you have M60A3 TTS coming on line in ROAD organizations. At this point you have four M125A1 self-propelled 81mm mortars at company and four M106A1 4.2" mortars at battalion. That means you pre-plan smoke on likely enemy positions followed by VT and impact fused 155mm. The moment you get shot at, you use SMOKE. Pop smoke from your M256 grenade dischargers and call for smoke. You can see through the smoke, they can't. If they follow Soviet doctrine, they'll help you by smoking your position and turning on their engine smoke generators. Stay in the smoke, keep your distance and you can turn the mission into a turkey shoot. After 1982, you have the Division '86 or Army of Excellence tank (w/M1, PI M1, M1A1 and M1A1(HA)or mech inf companies, with cross-attached platoons. Tanks do not fight by themselves. But the same tactics apply. Keep smoking the Soviet positions and use the smoke for concealment and you can advance across open ground with overwatch, firing on the move with your stabilized gun and sights and digital fire controls. On the defense, it can lead to Soviet platoons and companies losing their bearings and ending up in ditches and other obstacles.

You can communicate with the devs quite easily on the official GHPC discord. They have a "feedback" section perfect for this kind of info.
True story. I watched a driver get out of his vehicle and take a piss. I could see his urine stream a 2 kilometers.

Your tank commander gives you target locations if your in the gunner seat
It’s tough to do the reverse movement in the Warsaw tanks since their speed is so bad in reverse. However, their Hull Down is very effective
Burm drills in games like squad or war thunder seem to blow peoples minds cause everyone uses the tanks like you just sit there and trade shots instead of maneuvering with your vehicle. You end up either never being seen or at least having a really low chance of being hit.
Most people are stupid

Not a bug that's reality. The T72M and T72M1 have notoriously bad stabilization systems.
Epic
I think you should prioritize hitting the side of the tanks, their side armour is typically weak against modern shells at virtually *any* angle
That information which pops up in the top right looks useful!! Is it possible to enable?
The most recent update has removed it. All info will be on the after action review.

imagine this mission but with T80s or T64s as enemys i bet ones the all spot you you will see Alot of ATGMs flying towards you xD
There are proper tank tactics or nothing.
