Barney and Chano didn't get along on the show. I've a suspicion Barney didn't like Mrs. Fish, too. Fish didn't like being on the show. But they all were such good actors that their dislike for each other or for the show never showed.
God, I love Dietrich. One of the quietly funny cast members of any show. I wish Steve Landesberg could have gotten parts afterward that were worth his talent.
I was a young teen when this aired, great sitcom, most cop shows were detective so this was different in it's day. Only thing that hurts is seeing the twin towers in the opening theme song. Thank you for memories.
Seen Goodbye Mr. Fish so many times... yet today... It left me with tears in my eyes once again. Immaculate acting. The last scene with the boys looking straight at the lens when they freeze the shot is one of the most poignant moments in BM history.
Never liked this show as a kid but now that I’m older can appreciate it and see why so many people liked it. What cracks me up is how they would send out detectives on the strangest of assignments, a pornographic bakery?
That freaks me out, hearing them talk like 1997 is so far off; not only that, I was 17 the last time I watched this, and Fish seemed ancient then. He mentions he’s 63 here, and I’m 62. Freaky.
One problem I always had with WGN (as in WGn America) was its cutting of episodes for more ad and promo time. If you want complete episodes, buy the series (or individual seaosns)
Christopher St and Houston are mentioned often but they’re downtown while Central Park starts in midtown and ends Uptown. The Park is in a different precinct as well.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
You're commenting on the wrong place, but I guess that's better than ruining the show you WERE commenting on by writing out all the dialogue (pointlessly).
@@FigaroHey WELL AREN'T YOU THE STUPID ONE ! THIS IS CLEARLY THE COMMENT SECTION ! AND THE POINT IS TO EXPOSE THE VILLAGE IDIOTS LIKE YOU WHO THINK YOU ARE THE COMMENT POLICE SO GO STAND IN THE CORNER YOU DUNCE !
I love the show I love the actors but as I binge watch these I don’t like how they reuse them. Especially the character actors who played the store owners and the criminals you see the same ones in different roles.
When Characters are well written and performed you forget they’re not real people.

Still, in December 2022, one of the best TV 📺 shows in American history.
💯 %
👍🙂& 2023‼️
Agree in 2024 👍🤗
Me too
One of my favs😍
I miss this show!
Back in the Day when there was mandatory retirement. NOW we gotta work FOREVER.
Or until we die, whichever comes first lol
God, I love Dietrich. One of the quietly funny cast members of any show. I wish Steve Landesberg could have gotten parts afterward that were worth his talent.
I agree. One of my favorite supporting characters in sitcom history.
Yea. Nick was my fav but Dietrich was the next best and even then...only by a hair margin.
@@ImYourHuckleberry_29 Yeah, Nick too.
He had staring role in The Godfather with a dramatic ending!!!
Dietrich, is my fave too...his subtle comments often make the scene lol

It gives me chill bumps
It reminds me of a time when things were so different than they are now in 2024. 🤔
Jack Soo is comic genius!😂
I love the show, but Jack Soo is my favorite too😊
Interesting to think Fish was the only one to get his own spin-off series simply called "Fish". You can find it here on youtube.
That was a very little kid I used to watch the show with my grandma I remember when Jack Soo died we cried and cried
He is my favorite cast member of all. So many years later it still saddens me that he is not with us.
I don’t know of any better Asian actors$
@@ImYourHuckleberry_29Same here 😥
Who doesn’t love the men of the ol’ 1 2 ?
Who?
I just cannot stop watching this talented cast most marvelous series in tv history …. I thank you for sharing. Great work.
Goodbye Mr. Fish Part 2 is my favorite. Still gives me a tear in my eye.
Ditto
Gotta stick with the werewolf and the brownies episodes. Too funny
@@RedtideFla Brownies, first. Werewolf, second. Both hilarious AF. 😂
I hope Abe won an Emmy for this.
❤Wonderful, wonderful, show! 🙂
Cool. WGN commercial interrupted by a you tube ad.

It has been said that Barney Miller is the most realistic cop show ever on television.
Yes!
Never liked this show as a kid but now that I’m older can appreciate it and see why so many people liked it. What cracks me up is how they would send out detectives on the strangest of assignments, a pornographic bakery?
Dang I missed that one!
American visiting Prague for Christmas. Cold weather outside.. so watching this classic tv.. great childhood memories.
Mr. Bender is a lovable character
You've got issues if you find him loveable
I love the New York Municipal Bond joke. At around that time, New York City was bankrupt.
‘End up like a twinkly’ I’m gonna use that one!
James Gregory was always a good solid actor, but on this show he’s a great comic actor.
He excelled as Insp. Luger.
I've his routine on FOOD!
These guys were the best!! I am nostalgic.
34:49 Abe Vigoda lived until 2016. Unfortunately, only 26 days into it but in 1993, he would be only 71.... still a age he could enjoy that $1,000
Well Said.... THANK YOU for your humble comment. 🕯🌝☄♥️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

"...in 1997..." Fun Fact: Fish (Abe Vigoda) passed away in 2016. So, let's take comfort in the fact, that he did cash that bond.
Lol here here
Good to know.😢
"He's 63 years old, but he looks a lot older". Abe Vigoda was actually 56 at the time.
Wow, I thought he was older too
So awesome.
look at those ties.

Rick Dees Disco Duck is nuts.
"Build? . . . He hasn't got one."

Abe vigoda died Jan 26 2016 he was 94 years old

Bad news so kill the messenger...
That line is sooooooooooooo
FUNNY!!!!
Have a quick laugh....
Okay, now whats next?
1:25:48 turns from concern for him into stuff for her
‘Did he say 290K immigrant a YEAR?’😂
6:15 is that robert prosky?
wow that was a tough episode of fish retiring
No, the INTO TO " BARNEY MILLER " HAS CHANGED, IN THE "ORIGINAL COMPOSITION"; FROM THE EARLY OPENING MUSIC.
If sum one tried to rob me and he became un-alive, i wouldn't bat an eye
Bullhooey!
‘That guys not normal’ no his isn’t!
Fish left because he had a spinoff show that lasted 2 seasons, i think. It was called Fish
Will someone promote levit already????
I think they spun off Fish a year to early and screwed up the whole character. Should’ve brought him back after Fish was canceled.
Liz and Bernice were a pain!
Bernice was fine. She was legitamally worried -- as was everybody.
Bernice was better than Liz

@1:46:38 babe?
Hello hello talk to me.up hear like this.
He stopped doing this show to do a run off. Search: "Fish TV Show". It isn't bad,....and the kids are funny in the show, but the writing is below par.
