This soup is another recipe which is very delicious and easy to make. When you boil this soup, the aroma is irresistible. : )
I filmed this video recipe with Mina when I visited Copenhagen, Denmark for my Gapshida project.

We made a huge portion for our meetup party that night, and everybody who came to the party enjoyed the soup and asked for the recipe.
Ingredients:
Beef (brisket or skirt steak), white radish (or Korean radish or daikon), hot pepper flakes, fish sauce, sesame oil, garlic, green onions, ground black pepper, salt
Directions (for 2 servings):
cooking time: 1 hour
1. Cut 250 grams of radish (about 2 cups) into pieces 1 inch x 1 inch and ⅛ inch thick (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm and 0.3 cm thick). Put into a pot.
2. Cut 250 grams of beef brisket into bite sized chunks and put it into the pot.
3. Add 1 tbs hot pepper flakes, 2 tbs fish sauce, 1 tbs sesame oil, 1 ts salt, 2 cloves of minced garlic. Mix it well with a spoon.
4. Add 5 cups of water. Bring to a boil over high or medium hight heat with the lid closed for about 20 minutes.
*tip: when the soup starts boiling (After 10-13 minutes), skim off any fat or foam that floats to the surface of the soup
5. Lower the heat over medium heat and cook for another 30 minutes.
6. Chop 3 stalks of green onions and add it to the soup.
7. 1 minute later, turn off the heat. The soup is done!
Serve with rice.
I am so making this... Thank you .. I am from Iraq.. and I am obsessed with Korean food. its the best tasting food I've ever tried in my life
It's such a nice community you created on UA-cam... They were all there because they liked your videos and your personality!
Even thought I like the fact you travel around and do cooking lessons. BUT I love it when you cook at home. The light and image is much better. Each of the steps are clearly shown and along with the ingredients and food being cooked. Please do more video with the same lighting and image as you did before.
oh, I understand! Thank you very much for your interest in my recipes! Cheers! : )
This is one of the reasons why I love Korean food. The soup and rice meal! Simple to make, super delicious comfort food! I love the spicy!
I love how simple the soup is. No need to even buy broth. The spicy Korean style soups is my favorite soup to make when I am a bit under the weather. It soothes me from the inside out while clearing out my sinuses.
its so heartwarming to see people of all races and nationalities coming together, talking and eating together, and all happy.. thanks maangchi for bringing korean cooking closer to us people from all over the world, and putting smiles on our faces! may u be blessed always :))
@srainy Yeah I followed Mina to go shopping for Korean ingredients. It's sold at an Asian grocery store in downtown Copenhagen near central train station.
@lunafish1000 All of them are my precious readers who love to cook Korean food at home. They are passionate cooks! : ) And also they brought their own food to share. It was potluck party. Thank you for asking me.
thanks so much for what you do.
I'm American and I live in korea with my korean husband so your videos are like a gift from God.
I like her watch too. Light green always my favorite color too.:)
I use hot pepper flakes in most of my dishes. Hot pepper powder is used to make hot pepper paste. Check out the photos in the ingredient section on my website.
You make how to make Korean food looks easier as I can apply your recipe with domestic ingredient (Thailand). Thank you so much. I really love your show!!!
I just made this, and it was delicious! Thank you Maangchi! 😊
Every day there is a new video is a holiday! YAY!!!!!!!!!
One of the great cities that I woul love to visit ---> Copenhagen. It is nice to see that there are Asians in Copenhagen living there and not visiting. Now I am inspired to go there!!

안녕하세요 Maangchi! I love your channel. We are exact opposites...you make Korean food in America and I make American (and other Western) food while living in Korea. I love so much of the food here, but I never know how to make it. You've made it much easier for me!
Just lovely~!!!
I am sooooo hungry right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maangchi, can you do any jumuluk recipes? i really want to make one. thanks
I live on the "mainland", which is around 3-4 hours from copenhagen, and it is so expensive to travel back and forth!! So sad I couldn't be there :(
@Maangchi Oh that's so sweet! I thought they were just randoms who were there for the free food. Now I wish I was there, to meet you, not for the free food, tho that's a plus too ;)
a new recipe!!
@niviob @LisaDeeCanada the recipe for vegan kimchi is the same as maangchi's but without the fish sauce. here is the recipe for a substitute that i use instead:
slice an onion in half, add it to a pot with a kelp leaf about the size of your palm and dried shiitakes in 2 cups water. bring to a boil. once it’s cooled, strain the mix into a container. throw away the onion and kelp, but save the mushrooms for another dish. add soy sauce to the mix until it tastes as salty as fish sauce.
Aww, you were in Denmark and I didn't know? I feel like I missed out!
Hii. I am engaged with korean man . Im trying to learn lots of korean food by your channel :) can i also put korean rice cake inside this soup ? Will it be tasty ? Just curious haha i like trying new things sometimes ^^ i love youuuuuuuuu
Hot pepper flakes.. Is it the same as red pepper powder?? Which one do you buy?? There was so many choices at the Korean supermarket. Some looked more finer than others.
thank you it helped a lot :-P
Hey Maangchi, can you make a tutorial on how to make korean spicy soup. I've watched Family Outing for such a long time and almost every dinner they would have a spicy soup to eat with rice. So can you teach us how to make the basic spicy soup with radish and other vegetables?
@Maangchi when are you going back to Korea? there is a recipe i really want to find out about. it is spicy beef knife-cut noodle stew in Samsung-dong. a very famous restaurant that only sells this dish. hope you can help me:)

Maangchi :) Hello there... Is there a true difference between daikon and korean radish? Taste, texture or just the name?
The same, diakon just has an all white look where as korean radish has a green top.
you're so stylish!
I wanna eat there too T^T Why do I live in California?!
ummm i know the name of this soup is radish and beef soup but if i couldn't find any radish can i use potatoes or jicama instead? would it taste nice ? XD
Thai's products are around the world :)
@snapparazzo Hun laget et show hvor hun møter fans i hjembyen deres og så lager de mat sammen. Det ble annonsert for en stund siden.
I'm using fish cakes instead of beef... I hope it turns out well! 0.o
